Chapter 225: Testing Others

The Left and Right President both looked at each other, their mouths slightly agape, clearly wanting to say something.

But it seemed both of them realized that Minos's plan was actually the best, so despite being slightly frustrated, they could only keep their silence.

Seeing that no one was challenging Minos's ideas, the Guild Master stroked his short goatee in pleasure, before speaking his own mind.

"Since no one disagrees, then we'll go with Minos's plan. We'll split the test into five, each category receiving twenty spots. Does anyone have any final remarks?"

With no one saying anything, the Guild Master ended the meeting, keeping behind a few figures in order to further refine the upcoming test.

It just so happened that Minos was among those kept, so he remained in his seat as he waited for the room to empty by half.

"Well, let's get straight to splitting the roles. Antios, you'll be in charge of setting up the talisman test like how Minos explained."

"Yes Guild Master." The Left President replied.

"Yeffo, you'll be in charge of the combat/strength test."

"As commanded." The Right President said.

"For the wilderness experience test, I'll leave it to you, Jebron, since I'm aware you have some knowledge in this regard."

"I won't let you down, Guild Master." Jebron said happily.

"Miryum, you'll be in charge of the medical exam."

"No problem." Miryum said, one of few women within the meeting room.

"As for the test of will power and courage, this one is a little bit interesting so I'm not quite sure who should be in charge…" The Guild Master said as he took a pause and looked around.

With his words, everyone couldn't help but sit up in their seats a little straighter, not wanting to miss an opportunity to show off their abilities and build some more prestige within the guild.

But after looking for a while, the Guild Master's eyes once again froze on Minos, his mind clearly made up.

"Minos, even though you're new here, you are the one who proposed such a testing method, so it's only fair that you also get a chance to perform. With that in mind, I'll leave the final test to you."

"Thank you Guild Master." Minos said, his mood unaffected by the opportunity.

"Well then, I'll leave the rest to you five." The Guild Master said, as he got up off his chair and left the room.

With the Guild Master gone, everyone else also began getting up, ready to head off and get back to work.

"Minos, you never fail to surprise me." Jebron said, as he quickly walked up beside Minos.

"To be honest, I wasn't expecting such a thing to happen either." Minos replied with a slight shrug of his shoulders.

"That's what makes it impressive! You don't even try yet you've already made a leap that most people would take decades to replicate." Jebron said, his eyes a little melancholy, as if thinking of his own struggles to reach such a point.

"Good luck." Minos smiled.

"Very good luck, but I want to remind you that this opportunity is both a blessing and a curse. The Guild Master may look quite gentle on the surface, but he's extremely strict when it comes to our performances."

"If you fail to accomplish the task to his satisfaction, he'll stop relying on you, which will make any hopes of getting ahead impossible, but the opposite is also true, so everyone's always looking for a chance to impress."

"I'll do my best." Minos replied.

"You're going to need to do more than your best! Anyways, I won't waste anymore of your time, besides I also have work to do. Good luck." Jebron said before running off.

Shaking his head slightly, Minos headed out of the meeting room, but before he could get far he was stopped by another figure.

"Left President? Do you need something?" Minos asked, looking at the skinny pale man with a ghoulish face.

"Nothing, I just wanted to congratulate you on a job well done. To think a boy your age could outperform us old-timers on his first try." Antios said, his smile a little scary looking.

"Thank you for the compliment." Minos said, trying to end the conversation and get away from this creepy man.

"I can tell you're in a hurry to get started, so I won't keep you any longer." Antios said, his face still occupied by his strange smile.

Thanking Antios again, Minos quickly got away from him, feeling an uncomfortable presence within him.

Through his Omniscient Eyes and Heart Path, Minos could tell Antios was the jealous type, one who didn't like those who outperformed him.

But he wasn't so foolish to attack right away, so he was trying to get Minos on his team first, and if that didn't work, it went without saying what he would do.

These types of people were quite common, and even the Right President had similar thoughts to Antios, he just wasn't as aggressive in his pursuit.

Minos couldn't help but feel that the Guild Master must be in a pretty awkward situation with these two as his right and left.

It was no wonder he tried not to reuse them, it was clear he was also distasteful of their personalities, knowing such people weren't capable of true leadership.

But with their strengths and talents, he couldn't avoid them even if he wanted, so he could only stay on the fence, making it clear that he favored neither of them.

Letting out a sigh, Minos realized he seemed to unknowingly been pulled into a whirlpool of intrigue and influence, which was quite annoying.

But this was ultimately inevitable, so he could only do his best to keep rowing, trying to avoid the rocks from sinking him completely.

After talking to a few more people and getting a feel for their personalities, Minos headed to the library, finally taking a deep breath as he entered his 'domain.'

Everyone else was focused on this upcoming test, but he wasn't concerned, after all, he already had something in mind.

Flipping open his first book of the day, Minos's thoughts immediately cleared, the intrigue and schemes surrounding him vanishing as he was absorbed by the wisdom within the book.

The week passed in a flash in this way, and Minos pretty much spent every waking hour within the library, only going home occasionally to work on his test for the examinee.

With his complete dedication, he burnt through the guild's massive library at an incredible speed, having already made it through a dozen or so shelves.

By now, in terms of sheer knowledge, Minos could actually even outperform the Guild Master himself, but knowledge wasn't reflective of ability.

While his knowledge reserves were tremendous, his ability still needed to be trained, but with his Omniscient Eyes, knowledge essentially equaled ability, so it wouldn't take long for him to turn all this information into actual skill.

But before that, Minos wanted to first absorb everything the library had to offer, unfortunately his free time had come to an end with the beginning of the test.

Entering the guild, Minos saw the halls filled to the brim with excited faces, everyone filled with energy, ready to perform.

Squeezing through the crowd, Minos made his way upstairs and into the meeting room, finding the Guild Master's and the others already discussing.

"You came just in time Minos, have you got everything prepared?" The Guild Master asked as he noticed Minos entering the room.

"Of course." Minos said, tapping his spatial ring a few times.

"Good, then let's get the day started."

With that said, the Guild Master exited the room, leading everyone down stairs as he walked up onto the stage in the lobby of the guild.

Clearing his voice, the Guild Master quickly explained the different categories of the exam, making it clear that one could enter as many categories as they liked.

Despite the exam being a little strange compared to the usual ones, everyone was happy to hear it.

After all, with the way this exam was set up, everyone essentially had five chances to perform, meaning they only needed to succeed once.

Besides, with the different exams, people with unique strengths could also perform, giving them a chance to earn the opportunity like everyone else.

With everything explained, the test officially began, Minos heading to the guild's large backyard to set up his test.

His test was actually the least popular, and only a dozen or so people followed him out, the rest choosing the other four tests instead.

Finding an empty spot on the large field, Minos tapped his spatial ring, releasing a strange metallic device that looked like a set of stairs.

However, rather than normal stairs, these stairs were much smaller, only five steps or so, but the way it was designed was such that the steps would constantly cycle, allowing one to theoretically walk on them forever.

"My test is simple, you'll walk on these stairs for as long as possible while held down by a Gravity Talisman, the further you walk, the better the score." Minos explained, before letting the first person up onto the stairs.
