Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Enemy of Fate
Through the passes of the towering mountains of Kara Veria, a young and brave soldier dashed through.
With a sword on his back and a mission in his heart, he made heavy steps ahead, his eyes set solely on the swirling layer of black in the air. The location, of the labyrinth that would lead him to immense power and ability.
This man was none other than fate's prime enemy and sushi chefs' prime muse. Fish head, name fish, surname head. Fish head was a man with a fish for his head. Fate had played strange games with fish head, and fish head had cursed fate.
A labyrinth? That was just another stepping stone in his grand path.
After trailing through the long and arduous mountain gaps and passes, crossing by many trees and stones, and avoiding the hundreds of monsters that had been attracted by the large swirl of energy the labyrinth emitted, Fish head had finally reached the head of the labyrinth.
"Flounder it," said Fish head. Holding his two blades behind his back, the young fish… man? He dived down the ridge and sprinted through the grounds. The raggedy mountain valley had been overtaken by the leaking energy of the labyrinth. "This betta be worth my time."
Fish head dashed past the black flowers and the ashen grounds, the stones in the way crumbling under his feet.
And at last, he found himself facing the entrance of the labyrinth.
The grand stone structure stretched meters high in the dark skies intimidated all who looked down on them. The marking and intricate patterns carved over the ancient walls glowed and scared all that came close, signaling the danger within.
Fish Head held his breath.
And took a step ahead.
"Wha—"
The ground trembled and shook, dirt rose up into the skies while Fish head's balance broke apart. Entering a labyrinth without any knowledge or investigation was the same as placing your head inside a crocodile's mouth and praying to god that it won't bite.
Spoiler.
It would.
A crack ran through the ground below, widening with each passing moment. The black flowers fell into the spreading cracks as the ashen dirt tumbled around.
"My Cod!" Fish head screamed. His twin blades were unsheathed and grasped in his hands, his gills filled with air.
Careful, very careful, Fish Head peeked around.
"IN…. TRU… DER…"
A voice resounded from within the ground.
As it trembled again, Fish head jumped back in a swift hop.
A crashing sound boomed in the air as a giant black axe fell on the spot were Fish head stood mere moments ago.
Hands clad in stone emerged from the cracks in the ground.
The being below tore the ground on its own and slowly stepped out. It's every move sent the earth quaking and its every breath the air trembling.
Slowly, the being's body came out of the ground. Two horns protruded from the stone armor on its head while bluish-black lines riddled its frame.
"IN..TRU…DER!"
The guardian golem of the labyrinth had stepped out of it's sleep.
After ages, it had been awoken.
By a fish nonetheless.
The guardian golem raised its enormous axe in the air once again and searched for the slimy intruder that had dodged the first attack. It's eyes swept over the ashen valley…
But Fish head was no where to be seen.
The guardian golem turned back toward the entrance of the labyrinth.
"HAHA! Maybe don't waste so much time coming out!"
Fish head had already invaded the labyrinth.
"INTRUDER!!!"
The guardian golem was left alone.
A tear streaked down its face.
