Chapter 79: The King's verdict!

Before Elena could respond to zareth's questions several war vehicles surrounded them from all sides.
With hundreds of soldiers coming out from these vehicles. Apparently the soldiers that were positioned in several parts of the city as well as others from the soldier training facility were sent to the Royal castle due to the several explosions that went off few minutes ago.
"Surrender and face the royal trial in the city of kings or you'll die right where you stand for commiting treason." An angry lieutenant said as he began preparing for an attack.
Seeing how fast the situation has escalated,and not wanting to engage in another unnecessary battle, zareth grabbed Elena's hands as he used void travel to teleport them both to a safe distance.
Afterwhich they proceeded to use a teleportation devices to travel to the first city.
Lord Antoine and his ward Arwin both received zareth and Elena with open arms. While Lord Antoine treated Elena as a guest Arwin was genuinely happy to reunite with her friends especially zareth since she hadn't seen him in a year.
When the three of them were Alone Elena and zareth both briefed Arwin on the situation of things.
They talked about how Lord Raden had killed Lydia and Emiera. This made Arwin's blood boil.
She hurled several curses at raden after which she broke down in tears. Though she was more close to Elena than with the others and in a way Elena was the glue that held them all together, it was a known fact that Lydia and Emiera had both risked their lives to save hers.
And for this she was grateful to them. " I wish I was there to make that piece of s**t pay for his actions.
The three of them were still discussing about the loss of their friends when several armed guards knocked on the door and then inform all three of them that their presence was needed in Lord Antoine's Hall.
Seeing how armed the guards were, they all knew something was amiss. The three of them all made their way to the hall along with the guards.
When they got there they saw Lord Antoine with an expressionless face, in his hands was a letter with the king seal and several soldiers present.
I'm afraid Elena, your presence and that of your friend is needed in the king's court immediately.
Do they really have to go, can't you do something about the situation? They did nothing wrong you know. " Arwin pleaded with Lord Antoine whose sharp gaze quickly told her to shut up.
Without wasting much time, he began walking towards his private teleportation room and Elena and zareth both followed behind along with Arwin, the soldiers and Lord Antoine personal guards.
When they arrived in King Alacad's Royal Court in the city of kings, they saw the other lords present in the hall, a lie detecting crystal was also present in the middle of the room as well as several armed guards and soldiers.
Elena and zareth were both directed to take their stand in the middle of the court. Lord Antoine took his seat among the other lords with an empty seat remaining which was supposed to be that of Lord Raven.
Few minutes after everyone has seated, a guard stood in front of everyone to announce the arrival of the king.
With that Everyone went on their knees as they payed their respect to the King.
All hail king Alacad! First of his name.

After they've all payed their respect and king Alacad had taken his seat as the one who will be preciding over the court, he waited for some few seconds before addressing his subject. "Rise!"
At this they all took their seat once more, with the only two people standing being zareth and Elena.
With that the interrogation began... you're both summoned here before this court as a result of the role you both played in the massive demolition of Royal castle in the 3rd city as well as the murder of the third Lord [lord Raden]earlier today. Do you or do you not plead guilty? Alacad question.
With that both Elena and zareth both answered " not guilty your highness!"
Seeing that they both decided to plead not guilty, king alacad directed their attention to the lie detecting crystal in the middle of the court room and also told them that they would both answer the following questions individually and if they were to lie the crystal will glow red. If the answer truthfully the crystal will glow white.
With that he asked.
Is your name Elena?
Answer : Yes
The crystal obviously glowed a brilliant white light to show that it was working perfectly.
Did you visit the third city today?
Answer : yes.
Did you at any point visit the Royal castle?
Answer: yes.
Is it safe to conclude that your motive for visiting the third castle was to murder Lord Raven as a way of revenge for winning the competition against you thereby becoming the Lord of the 3rd city 1 year ago?
Answer: incorrect.
My only motive for visiting the 3rd city and castle was to demand the release of my friends Lydia and Emiera whom Lord Raven had wrongfully imprisoned.
The crystal also glowed white indicating that she wasn't lying.
Did you or did you not kill Lord raden?
Answer : No I didn't.
Did you or did you not destroy the entire castle ?
Answer:no I didn't.
So are you telling us the Lord killed himself and also destroyed his entire castle?
Answer : if your highness would permit me to show this court what really happened during my visit to the 3rd castle.
king Alacad signalled for her to continue. With that she took out God eyes. She quickly explained that the crystal was giving to her as a gift while she was still in the academy that she could use the crystal as a recording device while leaving out the other abilities of the Crystal.
With that, God eyes began replaying the entire event for everyone to see. They saw first hand how Lord Raden had controlled the both of them to fight each other.
they also saw the video he had showed elena and zareth which contained the gruesome way he killed Lydia and Emeira simply because he felt they had humiliated him.
After watching the replay of the entire battle, king Alacad remained silent for a long time before giving his verdict.
I have found you both not guilty, and you're both free from the charges of treason!
But as you know the 3rd Kingdom cannot remain without a Lord to govern her affairs. Not only that, Lord raden had a very important role as a strategist in this war between the vampires and the humans.
He was an asset to the vampire race in general as he had made great reforms along with Lord Antoine in developing our military.
