Looking through the revamped system screen, Abel was quite impressed but, at the same time, depressed at his skill percentage increase.

Impressed because he had gained quite a lot from killing all those mice before, but depressed because he was so close to 100% with his Corrupt skill.

Looking to the top of his system screen and deciding to use corrupt as soon as possible to max it out, he clicked on the Inventory button to see how much space he had left.

Looking at the neatly organized rows before him just pleased Abel's former OCD tendencies, but also looking at how little they had scrounged up was worrying, as they would run out of supplies for Kylie and Khepri soon enough.

Last but not least, Abel decided to look at the last button that appeared to be new, and he could easily guess what it would bring up.

-----------------------------------------

Looking at Khepri's stats made Abel want to collapse from shame, as her Agility and Spirit were the same as his, but her starting Intelligence was something entirely different compared to what he had started with.

Quickly burying the shame at having worse stats than a cockroach deep inside his heart, Abel decided to take a look at Khepri's Skills and Trait.

-----------------------------------------

[Adapt]

[A skill that every cockroach has that allows them to become used to certain changes to their bodies or their environment. Yet this one has been changed because of the use of a skill that enhances the target. From being used as a way to adapt to losing a leg without anything changing to having it become able to regrow the leg and enhance the body as a means to fight off the same thing happening in the same way to that part. This skill uses Consumed Points to grow the limb back and to change the body so as to avoid the same thing from happening.]

-----------------------------------------

Honestly, Abel was quite shocked at what this could entail for the little partner that was still dozing off within his front pocket.

Sure, it was a bit of a cruel skill, as you would have to get harmed to become stronger, but if you had enough points, you could veritably become invincible.

The only downside was that it didn't specify the number of points needed, which meant that it would vary with different situations.

Abel chose to hold off from looking at the other skills for now, as he had to focus on his surroundings and couldn't get dragged into danger because of his curiosity.

They soon arrived at the Infirmary, getting some medicine that still seemed useful, some bandages, and other essential items.

Choosing to spend the night there, Abel chose to stay on guard duty with Omi, who didn't seem to sleep either as Kylie went to sleep.

Sitting on the floor in front of the door, Abel thought about what he needed to have explained, as too many things were happening and Abel didn't understand anything that was happening.

"Omi, what were those energies you said that the stick absorbed?" He asked as he looked at Omi with a curious expression.

"The energies I was speaking about are too advanced for you to know about as of this moment, and plus, I'm not even allowed to tell you about them; my hands are tied." Omi said as she shrugged.

Abel ruffled his hair with both hands because he was frustrated.

He knew Omi couldn't talk because of certain reasons or rules set by the system, but it still annoyed him when he knew that she knew the answers to a lot of things that he didn't understand.

"By the way, why wasn't it your voice when the system was speaking earlier?" With his brow raised, Abel questioned.

"Oooh, that! I set up an answering function because if I spoke, I might alert something towards your location, so I thought that would make things easier." Omi replied with her eyes closed while nodding like a sage.

Abel just waved her reply off as her being the weird little fairy that she was until he felt a chill run down his spine, reminding him that she had access to all of his thoughts.

Deciding to just be quiet, Abel decided to wait for Kylie to wake up before they left again to explore the rest of the floor tomorrow.

[Day 7… A new day finally…]

As soon as Kylie woke up and had something to eat and drink, they got ready to go into the corridor to search the other offices, ready for anything to go wrong.

Luckily, yet at the same time, sadly for Abel, they only came across three normal zombies, of which Abel let Khepri take care of one and Kylie take care of the other two as he didn't get experience from Level 0 enemies anymore.

When they arrived at the lounge again, it was already about 3 p.m. in the afternoon, so Abel decided to take a risk by himself and go down to the third floor, although Khepri and Kylie disagreed, causing him to take them both with him just in case he needed the extra firepower.

That was how he found him standing before the dark staircase before him that echoed with the clicking of a few zrendza's nails as well as moans too deep to be from ordinary zombies.

Looking to his left, he nodded at Kylie, signaling to get ready for the venture into the unknown beyond this floor…
