Chapter 21: Chapter 21 - The owl, the letter and the wand

Thomas sat in his room, pouring over the books for his first year at his new magical school for what felt like the millionth time. He had been eagerly anticipating the start of his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and had spent every free moment of the summer re-reading everything once again just in case he might have forgotten something, to Bahamut and Mars's dismay since both of them were forced to listen to his rambling.

He was so engrossed in his studies that he almost didn't hear the sound of an owl tapping on his window. Startled, he looked up to see Dr. Whoo, the owl he had brought on his first visit to the Diagon Alley perched on the sill, a letter clutched in its talons.

Thomas leaped up from his chair and ran to the window, opening it to let his flying friend in. It flew gracefully into the room and perched on his desk, dropping the letter in front of him before hooting softly and preening its feathers.

Thomas pats him a few times before giving it some treats and with shaking hands, Thomas tore open the envelope and pulled out the letter inside. His heart racing, he read the words over and over again, scarcely believing what he was seeing.

"Dear Mr. Greyson,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all the necessary books and equipment.

The term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall Deputy Headmistress"

Thomas could hardly contain his excitement. He had been dreaming of getting this letter ever since he found out that he was a wizard, and now it was finally happening. He immediately began making plans to visit Diagon Alley to purchase his school supplies since they get changed every year for some reason.

But before he could do that, there was one important matter to attend to: practicing the only charm he could do yet.

{You are one stubborn kid, Thomas.}

"I know, but I still need to be able to use it, besides it's not like I'm in a hurry."

Bahamut didn't say anything else as Thomas returned to his book and began reciting the incantations he had learned, moving his dagger in precise motions as he attempted to conjure a small flame.

At first, nothing happened. But then, with a sudden burst of energy, courtesy of a titanic dragon, a spark flickered at the end of his wand. Thomas grinned in triumph, feeling a rush of pride and accomplishment as he continued to practice.

Once he was sure that he got the charm ready, Thomas picked up his letter and run down the stairs, finding both of his parents in the living room watching their favorite TV show. As soon as they saw him, Jonathan was about to ask him what was with all of the excitement when he saw the letter in his son's hand.

"Congrats, champ."

[Congratulations sweety!]

"Thanks, Mom, and Dad," Thomas replied, beaming with excitement. "I can't wait to start my first year there."

"We're very proud of you, son," Jonathan added. "But we also wanted to talk to you about some things."

"Sure, what is it?" Thomas asked, curious as to what his parents wanted to discuss.

[Well, first of all, we want to make sure you're prepared for everything that comes with attending a magical school. You'll be learning a lot of new things and meeting new people, so it's important to stay focused and be aware of your surroundings.]

Thomas nodded, listening intently, knowing very well that his mom was worried that something like that night might happen to him again. "I understand, Mom. I've been training a lot and I'm ready for anything."

"That's good to hear, but there's also something else we wanted to talk to you about. We know that you've been spending a lot of time with Irina, and after she left with Latia, but it's important to remember that you'll be making new friends at Hogwarts too. You don't want to miss out on any opportunities just because you're too focused on your studies or your two girlfriends."

Thomas looked down, feeling a bit embarrassed about this topic, but he still answered. "I know, Dad. I'll try to be more open to making new friends."

[We're not trying to discourage you from spending time with Irina and Latia, Thomas,] Kate said, giving her son a reassuring smile. [We just want you to have a well-rounded experience at Hogwarts. It's not just about the academics, it's also about the friendships and memories you'll make.]

Thomas nodded again, feeling grateful for his parents' advice. "Thanks, Mom and Dad. I'll keep that in mind."

"Good," Jon said, patting his son on the back. "Now, why don't we all go out for some ice cream to celebrate your acceptance to Hogwarts?"

"What about my wand and supplies?" [You have a deadline right? Then we can pick them another day.]

Thomas grinned, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation for what was to come. With his parents' guidance and support, he knew that he was ready for anything that Hogwarts had in store for him. Besides once he gets there, he might be able to learn how to heal his mother, maybe even help Latia with that family problem of hers.

A few days later, Thomas and his parents arrived at Diagon Alley, ready to purchase his school supplies. They made their way to Ollivanders, the famous wand shop, where they were greeted by Mr. Ollivander himself.

"Ah, Mr. Thomas, I've been expecting you." Mr. Ollivander said, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. "Let's get started, shall we?"

Thomas felt a shiver of excitement run down his spine as Mr. Ollivander led him to a shelf filled with boxes of wands. He picked up one of the boxes and handed it to Thomas. "Try this one.

Thomas took the wand and swished it through the air, but nothing happened. Mr. Ollivander shook his head. "No, no, that's not the right one for you. Let's try another."

They continued this process for what felt like hours, with Thomas trying out various wands but none of them seemed to work quite right. Finally, Mr. Ollivander handed him a sleek, black wand with a dragon heartstring core.

"Give this one a try," he said, his voice hushed with anticipation.

Thomas took the wand and gave it a flick, and to his amazement, a shower of sparks shot out of the tip. He looked up at Mr. Ollivander, who was smiling at him.

"That's the one. Eleven inches, blackthorn with a dragon heartstring core. A powerful combination, if I do say so myself."

Thomas felt a sense of relief wash over him. He had found his wand, and he was ready to start his journey at Hogwarts.

"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander," Thomas said, feeling grateful to the wandmaker.

"It was my pleasure, Mr. Thomas," Mr. Ollivander replied, giving him a bow. "I have a feeling that you and that wand are going to do great things together."

With his wand in hand, Thomas and his parents continued their shopping trip, picking up robes, textbooks, and other necessary supplies. As they made their way back to their home for a celebration, Thomas couldn't help but feel excited about the adventures that awaited him at Hogwarts.
