Chapter 49: Combining Skills 2/4

As everyone got back into a reasonable walking pace, I was back to combining my magic spells with my [Bloodline Aura].

After learning about how my aura affects my magic, I wanted to see if I could make it work the way I want it to.

I start by clearing my mind if what happened just a few moments ago, then I resummoned my aura, which had fallen apart earlier for obvious reasons.

Once my aura had returned, I then cast [Fireball] once more, this time making sure that I infused it with the intent to… to… uh… hmm.

'What should I make it do? Maybe I should just make it more powerful, keep thing simple. Actually, will it even work that way? Only one way to find out I guess.'

I cast the [Fireball] with the intent to be more powerful.

It flew through the air and finished its trajectory, which resulted in it causing a small sonic boom, meaning it impacted the sound barrier.

The fire then slowly fizzled out until there was nothing left, no sign of anything. I didn't know how to feel about this, as the result was about what I had expected, but it just didn't feel satisfying.

'Maybe I should try it out on some other spells.'

Since I was done with [Fireball], I moved onto the next spell, which was [Fire Beam].

I charged up the spell, infused it with my aura, and pointed my left index finger up at the sky, then released it.

It shot out, flinging from side to side as it snaked its way into the sky. I could have sworn I heard it hissing as it went up. And not like it was burning the air itself, but as if it was an actual serpent.

I wasn't sure why that was the case so I decided to ask Cythistia if she knew.

She answered with, "Sounded like a serpent? Well, it may be because of the fact that it's a Bloodline Aura. They have been recorded to do that in the past, one such example would be the son of Lilith, mother of all demons."

I tilted my head, confused as to why she was telling me this.

"Let me explain. Lilith's son Diavlo, not DiaBlo, DiaVlo, was born into this world and awakened his [Bloodline Aura], same as you. And, like you, he uses magic. In the books back in the Grand Library, they state that he managed to combine his Aura and his magic together like you are now. And when he did so, his spells were all imbued with a demonic will of sorts, not enough to become its own sentient being, but still, enough to empower his magic more. Although, only certain spells would be imbued with this particular will, as not all of them are fit to receive it."

'What do you mean by not fit?' I asked.

"I mean they aren't compatible with his natural existence enough to take on his will and form. Take what you just did for example, you used a long and winding spell, which fits into your nature as a serpent yes? That's what it means to be compatible." She explained to me, letting me understand how and why my [Fire Beam] became more snake like.

'Is this man still alive?' I asked out of curiosity.

"I don't know, those books were written almost thousands of years ago, and he was said to be past his prime by then, which is why he let them be made, and he even helped write them too." She explained.

I sighed, knowing that I would likely never meet such a character in the future.

'Anyways, back to skills, I keep getting sidetracked.'

I was done with [Fire Beam] and next was onto [Fire Wall]. My Aura didn't seem to do much except for make it a bit stronger and more durable. I wasn't going to test out [Fire Burst] here for obvious reasons, nor was I going to test [Fire Dome] because I didn't want to inconvenience Cythistia by making her stop again.

Next was [Poison Bullet]. I wasn't entirely sure how this would work out. Would it lose the poison like it would with [Poison Bite], or would the effects be different. 'But it should have poison because it's poison specific magic, while [Poison Bite] just has the poison element included, which is the replaced with Aura power. So in theory, [Poison Bullet] should still be poisonous even with my Aura.'

I decided to try it out and created a [Poison Bullet] and infused my Aura within it, then fire it at the ground.

It shot towards the floor with a whistle and splashed onto the floor with a squelch before letting off a sizzling sound. Thankfully it didn't seem to have lost its poisonous properties.

When I cast the spell, it seemed a little bit sharper and felt like it would sting like a poisonous fang, and if I go along with what Cythistia said earlier, it became clear that it was like that because of my serpentine lineage.

I observed the wet patch slowly sink into the ground and probably preventing anything from growing there anymore. It was soon far behind me and I let it be and moved onto the next spell, [Earth Manipulation]...

I don't want to use this spell...

I'll just move onto... [Earth Wall]...

...

Just... Just going to skip those...

[Fire Absorption] Is next then, although, I don't exactly think this is going to go well with my aura, it just doesn't seem like it'll need it, nor do I think I would be able to see it do anything and there's no fire to absorb. Onto [Hell Fire] then.

I raise my left hand and summon a Hell Flame and just let it sit there floating above my hand.

Looking at this reminds me of my father and when he tried to teach me this flame while he was still in this realm. I smile lightly as my eyes dim slightly at the reminder that I don't have anyone left for me...

'Though, that might change' I though as I look up at the backside of the stag futa that I was riding on the back of.

My smile gets a little bigger and my eyes brighten up at the prospect of having my own family.

I shake my head and look back towards the flame in my hands, remembering that I need to stay focused on my Aura experiments. I begin infusing the flame with my Aura and immediately felt a noticeable change in the surroundings, it felt heavier with a slight sense of dread. I look up to see a few glances turn to me before looking away.

'Seems like I'll have to use this combination sparingly.' I thought as I saw that the rangers weren't too fond of the ambience that it gave off
