Chapter 102: Return

We entered the gates with much fanfare as the citizens gathered in droves to celebrate our return. The cheers of the people congratulating us was explosive and deafening.

As I slithered down the street with everyone else, I felt the pressure of everyone's gaze on me, and I then did my best to shrink my presence to a minimum so as to not be noticed.

I was of course still noticed, just not as much, especially since I was next to Cythistia, she drew a lot of attention away from me and onto her.

I follow along the road that Denosin was leading us down and I saw a large stage, big enough to fit just about everyone in our group on it.

My social anxiety kicked in as my ears drooped and my eyes shrunk. I didn't want to be awarded anything for my contributions to this raid, not in public at least.

But eventually we all climbed up onto the stage and filtered out behind our platoon leader.

Denosin then walked up to a podium and raised his hand to silence the crowd. Once they had quietened, he began another speech, this one more grandiose than the one he gave us back in the dungeon.

He explained everything that happened in an exaggerated manner, from the first floor, to meeting Kane, who parted ways after we started our journey home, to the final battle against the wyvern.

"And we owe our victory to Traytora!" He finished his speech by announcing my name and turning back to our line, which was right behind him.

I knew what he wanted so I slowly made my way over to the podium and next to Denosin. He nodded and started the next part of his speech, going on about how I had greatly benefited this expedition with my power.

"Without her, we would have most certainly failed to subjugate the dungeon, nor would we have had a chance to even clear it and collects its core!" He shouted as eh pulled the glowing green core out of a bag that was at his side.

The crowd gasped in shock and awe upon seeing the rather large crystal ball.

"This core would normally go towards the council, however, considering that we wouldn't have even made it this far and might have even died if not for her, I have decided to reward her with the core. For saving all of us in the final battle, otherwise we most likely wouldn't have made it back alive."

He then practically shoved the orb into my hands and didn't let me refuse him. I just stood there, looking at the green orb he had given me, not knowing what to do.

He then went back to his speech, ignoring me, so I just went back to my spot in the line with the core in my hands. It was actually larger than I expected it. It was around the size of a sports ball, maybe a bit bigger, it's been a while since I saw one let alone played with one.

Either way, I ignored the speech being given as I knew that I wouldn't be called back up again, I focused on the crystal core.

It felt fragile like glass yet I instinctively knew that it wasn't. It was immaculately smooth to the touch and gave off a faint aura of peace and serenity, which I felt was very familiar.

Deciding to inspect it a little more, I used my new-ish [Mana Detection] and delved deeper into the core of the… well, the core.

And as soon as I did, I was surprised, as I felt it filled with Nature attributed mana. Sure there was a little bit of other things in there but ultimately it was like ninety-five percent Nature attributed.

I was originally going to find a way to give it back or maybe offer it to the council, but now I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.

After the speech was over, everyone was escorted home by the city guards and we were given some time to rest and relax, which we did.

I went back with Cythistia to the Velphine manor and her family pestered us about everything even though some of them were there in the crowd congratulating us.

"So, you killed two bosses mostly by yourself." Adam, Cythistia's father, queried.

I nodded.

"Wow, they must've been really strong for you to be awarded the dungeon core. What are you gonna do with it by the way?" He asked.

I smiled and brought a finger up to my lips.

"Ah, a surprise, I look forward to seeing what you do with it." He said with anticipation.

I just continued to smile and we carried on with our conversation until someone butted in. We kept on talking for a good couple of hours until it was time for dinner where more of Cythistia's family came and asked questions we had already answered. Thankfully her parents helped us by explaining some parts for us.

I enjoyed the happy atmosphere as I ate and conversed with the other members of Cythistia's family. Dinner lasted about an hour before people started to head off, either to bed, to work as some of them worked at night, or to have some fun.

As for Cythistia and I, we were off to have some fun and release all of our pent up sexual energy that we didn't really have a chance to deal with on the expedition.

As soon as we left, I wrapped my tail around her body as she hoisted her hands around my ass as my own arms wrapped around her neck, our faces smooshed together in a fiery passion.

As she carried me to our bedroom, our tongues playfully danced around one another for dominance.

We resumed kissing and soon we entered the bedroom, and waiting in lingerie. A fire was then ignited in the both of us as our lust was released and we went wild.
