Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Chapter 2

The next morning rumors began flying around. A new student had been admitted? Just before the midterms?

Homeroom was shorter than usual. Mrs. Linda the homeroom teacher was then signaled from the door by the principal.

She stepped out for a bit. "I'll be back soon" she announced.

True to her word. She returned in five minutes. But she didn't come back alone. Beside her stood a new face. A good-looking boy, tall and with an innocent face. His pair of glasses enhanced the roundness and cuteness of his face.

"Class, a new transfer student has been assigned to the class". Mrs. Linda said.

She then turned to him "Please introduce yourself".

The boy nodded shyly. "My name is David Leon. I transferred from Western High, Sweden" he said.

The girls in the classroom started whispering and giggling amongst themselves "Decorum," Mrs. Linda said with an air of authority.

This made the class quiet again.

"Please continue," she told the new student.

David cleared his throat. "My name is David Leon. I transferred from Western High, Sweden. I came to Canada with my Father because he got a job here" he said "I hope to make a bunch of friends" he added.

The class applauded him. "Take your seat beside Miss Blau" Mrs. Linda instructed him.

Sierra's surname is Blau. She comes from a Jewish background while Jason's Nile.

Sierra put up her hand signifying she was the Blau. He took his seat beside her and placed his head on his desk.

"My name's Sierra," she said as she looked at him.

Jason was quietly observing them. David raised his head "I'm David. Nice to meet you".

After homeroom, they had geography lessons. It was as boring as ever.

Sierra just wanted to leave.

"With that said, research on Astrological Cosmology. It will be due next Thursday." Sir Vane, the geography teacher concluded.

He was a short man with broad shoulders. His shoulders were always drooping.

He was a scary man.

"We have Maths lessons next" Sierra complained with a grunt. "And we also have to change classes. What a pain".

David put his geography textbook in his bag as he took out his math "You don't like maths?" he asked.

She nodded vigorously "Ever since I was a child, that subject, maths has been after my life," she said dramatically swinging her left hand. "If not for Jason I'd probably have repeated a year". Her eyes tearing up.

He chuckled and then immediately stopped himself "I'm sorry" he apologized "I didn't mean to mock you".

She smirked "Don't worry. I never take things to heart. I'm a bird" she assured him.

Off she went to Jason's seat "Are you ready for Maths class?" she asked.

He nodded.

"Remember I'll seat next to you" she reminded him.

"Sure," he said.

Sierra napped throughout the math lessons. Jason let her be. This was because after school she'd come to his house for their study session.

Midterms were coming up soon. And this was their first year in high school. He didn't want her to have any failing grades so early in the term.

"Will you go home to freshen up?" Jason asked after the classes had ended.

Sierra shook her head. "Big sister Mandalay is home, right?" she asked "I'll borrow a sweatshirt from her"

Jason was the only child of his mother but his father had had twin children earlier in life. Mandalay and Mael.

Mandalay was in her third year of college studying Microbiology. She was very nice and soft-spoken while Mael was a medical student in Japan.

Sierra was fond of Mandalay because she was very nice and quiet. And Mandalay loved Sierra. She was the little sister she never had.

"She's home," Jason said.

David walked towards the both of them. "Umm, you must be Jason,?" he said staring at Jason.

Jason nodded. "Yes, I am".

"Nice to meet you," David said with a smile.

Sierra watched them in excitement. She was happy they were getting along.

"See you later," she said to David. Then grabbed Jason's elbow "Let's go home".

Mikko stared at David. She smelled something fishy. Fishy.
