Chapter 21: Hunting Competition (3)

Chi Chen stood on a small hill, gazing down at the forest below. He had been tasked with leading his group of subordinates on a hunt for a single boar. As a Gu Master from the Gu Yue Clan Academy, Chi Chen knew that this was an important evaluation of his leadership skills.

He turned to his subordinates and began to give orders, his voice firm and commanding. "Spread out and search the forest. We're looking for a single boar, so be careful not to startle it."

His subordinates nodded, and quickly dispersed into the forest, each armed with their own Moonlight Gu. Chi Chen drew his own Moonlight Gu. As they searched, Chi Chen found himself struggling with his Moonlight Gu. He was inexperienced and lacked proficiency, causing him to shoot the blades awkwardly and miss his target. One of his subordinates tried to help, but ended up being injured by Chi Chen's himself.

Thankfully, one of Chi Chen's subordinates possessed a healing Gu.

"Quick! I have the [Rock Toad Saliva] Gu!", a woman said

The [Rock Toad Saliva Gu] worm was a pretty rare healing gu worm. With this, they would be able to resumed hunting. They quickly tended to the injured member, allowing Chi Chen to take a moment to reflect on his mistakes.

Realizing his lack of proficiency with his Moonlight Gu, Chi Chen began to focus on his breathing, and centered himself. He took his time with his swings, and slowly improved, landing his moonlight blades with accuracy.

After a couple of intense hunting, Chi Chen finally managed to finish off the injured boar with the help of other subordinates. With his newfound focus, Chi Chen was able to lead his subordinates on a successful hunt for the boar. They emerged from the forest, the boar's body slung over the shoulder of one of his subordinates.

The evaluation would last for three days and nights, so taking a boar with them was a good thing since it would allow them to have a proper meal at the end of the day.

Despite the initial mishap, Chi Chen's leadership skills had proven effective. His subordinates respected him, and he had shown the ability to learn from his mistakes. It was a valuable lesson, and one that would stay with him as he continued his journey as a Gu Master.
