Chapter 37: 37: Start of the guild war [pt2]

[Hey, is this the right area? I can see Adversary's team members but I can also see a lvl 40 guy up ahead. Surely that is not, right? Why would the opposite guild send an under-leveled player?]

[I do not know. Why don't you go and ask the player?]

Two intruders who had snuck past the Adversary guild's line of defense discussed this. They both had a decent amount of experience, being above lvl 100.

They both watched as the lvl 40 player walked around, undisturbed by their presence.

[Hey, check out the name. The guy thinks of himself as a hotshot. He even has the name 'controller.' How full of himself this guy is.]

One of the two players taunted. They watched as the controller stopped walking. It was the right time to attack him and eliminate the only guard between them and the keystone.

Or, that was what those two thoughts were before the controller turned around and shot them.

The sudden action from the enemy line-up freaked both players out and they exposed their hiding spot. They did not notice when a heavy-hitting attack reduced their HP to 0%.

The last thing they saw was the black screen saying 'You are eliminated.'

......…

"Olivier. Nicely done. That makes out the tenth pair in the past hour. At this rate, we might break a record."

Elder Aruha sounded cheerful and her avatar skilled sillily as she let out her joy known to the world.

Callum, who had been hiding this whole while, had his summons ready. But as soon as he noticed that the paladin had taken care of the opponents, he canceled his skills.

"Elder Aruha, do not hog all the fun. Please leave some for me as well. You must doubt the number of kills compared to both of us. Look at Controller. He is bored and agitated as well while playing bait."

Callum pointed toward Oliver's avatar which was minding its own business. And by that. Olivier meant that he was trying to fight the boredom.

Usually, people thought that clan wars were filled with action and excitement. But that was not the case.

There were times for fighting and then there was downtime as well. And currently, Olivier was being subjected to 'downtime' because of his low level.

"Get ready. More people are heading our way. My skill is picking up two assassins who managed to slip by. Olivier, behaving like a good decoy, decided to be the one to face these two first.

[Look, a lvl 40 shooter. Let us take care of him quickly.]

These two assassins were not any different than the other people Olivier had met before. They were shallow as well and they decided to take Olivier out quickly as well.

However, luck was not on their side.

Just like any other player before them, these two fell victim to Elder Aruha's skill as well.

"Woohoo, another big score for me. I am on a roll today."

Olivier shook his head as he watched his team member celebrate another kill. So far, the record was heavily in her favor.

One of the players whom Elder Aruha had smashed had not died yet. Olivier noticed this and quickly shot the player, making his HP turn to zero.

"Well done, Controller. Hey Callum, learn something from our new player. He is pulling his weight, unlike you."

"Hey, I am doing an amazing job. It is not my fault you end up killing everyone before I even have a chance to do anything."

Callum complained with a pouty voice. Somehow, this gaming session was far from awkward and it came as a shock to Olivier.

"Oh yeah? Well then, you should take care of the next batch. Here they come"

Elder Aruha looked down at her watch before looking up sharply. Three people were heading their way this time. But their movement was weird.

When Elder Aruha did not say anything her tense humming still made its way through the call receiver, Olivier knew something was wrong. He was about to ask what happened but he did not get a chance to.

Smoke filled the area. Olivier checked his screen but his map had turned black because of the 'special item' being used.

"Everyone, do not panic. This is a surprise attack but we can get through this easily. Our opponent is only level 150. Olivier, will you be able to hold on until we come to help you out?"

Elder Aruha asked with heavy breathing. Her concentration seemed to be on her game rather than on what was happening with her party members.

"I will do what I can."

Olivier assured his teammates but he had no intention of just 'surviving' this match-up. He was going to find a way to win a 1-vs-1 in the open world.

[This sucks. My opponent is a lvl 40 player? Sorry kid, but you should back down now. There is no way you are going to win this fight.]

Olivier's opponent was a paladin. It was a heavily defensive class. And if this man had any kind of buff stacked up, then it was going to be even more difficult for Olivier to win in a 1-vs-1 fight.

And that was why, Olivier was going to use the traps their guild had laid out beforehand. He had gotten a short overview of these traps from Elder Aruha beforehand.

[Hey kid. Stop running away and come back. Are you afraid of the little old me? Do not worry because I will be gentle with you]

The Paladin followed Olivier with his slow speed stat. It was a good thing that Olivier had invested just enough in his speed to be able to escape the Paladin.

It was a short chase where Olivier lead the pair. He was thankful for his quick thinking and reflexes that saved him from more than one fatal blow.

He was also able to shoot at the paladin and taunt the other player.

[Shit. You are so annoying. How are you taking 0 damage from my attacks? Are you hacking by any chance? I will report you if you did not tell me.]

The paladin ran after Olivier but the constant shooting was getting annoying for him.

Even if he did not take much damage from the attack, his pride still felt chipped. Here he was, a more experienced player, taking damage from someone who was not even lvl 40.

[You talk too much]

Those were the first words Olivier typed in the chat and they enraged the paladin even more. This, combined with the fact that half of his skills were turned off due to the taunt, made the paladin ache for revenge.

The chase soon came to an end as the pair reached an empty hallway. There was no exit on the other side of the corridor and this seemed to be the last stop for the cheeky shooter.

[You have nowhere to run now, little shit. You tried your best but it was not good enough.]

The paladin walked with intimidating footsteps. He did not even realize that the real one in danger was him, not the shooter.

[Any last words?]

The paladin asked and got a simple reply for his efforts.
