Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - Meditation

Night gradually fell.

With his eyes closed, Carl currently sat cross-legged on the floor entering a state of meditation in order to check his body.

As soon as he did that, he opened his eyes and saw a world of no end, filled with almost empty rivers filled up with white light heading onto three perfect circles which only glowed faintly.

The light was his mana.

The rivers were his mana veins that enables him to use cultivation powers. While the three circles were his centers of power. One on the head (mental sphere), one on the stomach (mana pool), and one on his heart (body).

The almost empty rivers were not good already since it meant his mana was extremely low. But Carl looked at the circles and was even more disappointed.

'Mental Sphere: regular, bottom tier. Physique: regular, bottom tier. Mana pool: regular, bottom tier...Its pathetic.'

After a quick look, which didn't even take a second, he opened his eyes and put a faint smile.

'The fuck was that?'

As long as one has his Centers of Power, one can grow stronger, transcending the limitations of a regular man. As long as a cultivator was training, they should grow stronger, but this Carl had not done anything.

'I am only slightly, just slightly stronger than a normal human?'

'I don't even have a cultivation method, no martial arts, no spells. This Carl Craze is really pathetic and I am now him.'

'What the hell did this guy even do in all these years? In a world where basically everything could be grabbed by hand, why the hell doesn't he have a cultivation method? Wasn't this guy an acolyte? Tsk.'

'He might be an orphan, but this is too much. Even my physical body is fragile and unhealthy which means lack of physical exercise.'

It was obvious from the get-go.

Images of a fat boy - himself - buying video games, crappy figurines, and spending hours of hours on bed lazing around played in his mind.

Then he saw him debating whether to meditate or not.

Cultivation techniques. This was cultivation methods that were like ability books that when practiced, allows cultivators to become superhumans.

Acquiring one and meditating with one was the fastest way for cultivators to get stronger.

But this was not the only way.

They could train in martial arts, and enter a state of meditation. While these methods were inferior to acquiring one, it was at least step one.

'Well, it doesn't matter. I am a cultivator. I'm no normal human at least.'

For some reason, there was this delusional idea in the original Carl's mind that a glorious path was waiting for him. That, his story had not begun yet!

"Fuck you," Carl rolled his eyes in disdain and shook his head, as he could tell that the original Carl got the idea from the pile of video games, animes, and web-novels he was consuming for a long time.

Before he knew, he became a laughing stock in school, his friends started to leave him and grow up. If not, they became the target of bullies which started to pop up soon as the students got a good grasp of their powers.

Carl on the other hand has not made any promising breakthroughs. When he tried to cultivate, one could say it was too late.

At one point, he even hypnotized himself that he was just getting bullied now but soon he will become a completely new person and become respected. That did not go well for him, and reality slowly hit him day after day, week after week until a whole year passed.

He began to live the life of a dog that was scared of the humans around him, fearing they might attack him out of nowhere.

Another memory popped onto his mind.

Carl tried joining into martial arts seriously but he gave up immediately. This was because everyone already can use some of their powers, and was more powerful than him, boys and girls.

He was already constantly looked down and bullied, so he ended up not doing.

In the end, it's like he became a master of none.

Because of the maltreatment and the gratification he obtained from his bad habits, he neglected daily training too, and that stacked up until all his earns regressed day by day.

This was his life. He went onto sleepless nights excessively watching fictional weak to strong genres all night, reading stupid web-novels, and masturbating.

He grew up with a very unhealthy diet and sleeping schedule.

'No wonder the orphanage gave him up as soon as it was possible.'

Calming himself down, Carl saw the root of the problem.

Carl Craze might have gotten bullied, but in society's eyes, he was granted with a special privelege.

Not everyone has Centers of Powers that allows them to cultivate. Not everyone can use magic. Not every child was admitted to the academy just to cultivate with allowance, food, shelter.

Carl Craze was wasting his opportunity. Overtime, he became overweight, lazier, and soon a subject of misfortune.

He used to have friends, but if they did not become like him, they moved forward, while he continued to become who he was now.

Now at age 15, his appearance and personality plainly screamed the losers of Earth's society.

'Hahahaha, it is a blessing he wasn't expelled yet.'

Carl could not believe this life, and then with a grim look on his face, he touched his big belly and boobs. These big slugs of fat had seemed to hang onto his bones tight, and they were getting to his nerves.

Revisiting the memories in his head, Carl decided that what his approach should be.

'It is better I approach this problem like it's just the start of my journey to magic. I may be little and weak for now, but I would exponentially grow in no time. Hmph, fuck this world, with my knowledge as an otherworlder, this would be a cakewalk!'

Carl laughed at himself.

Looking onto his childhood, he could see that he indeed not only had the same name as him, but also the same looks. Just that he was now fat, weighing over a hundred kilograms, had bright red pimples all over his face, and had lumps of fat hanging from every part of his body.

'There is only one more thing I have to see. What is my element?'

Normally, elemental affinity cannot be discovered when one was still a level 1 acolyte. But when Carl had arrived in this world, he was definitely a mage already. Albeit only for a few seconds.

Carl peeked onto his mana pool, trying to see what his magic element was.

Not all cultivators was blessed by a magic element, but Carl knew he was. It was the biggest reason along with his earth physique why the academy probably still has hope for him. Although the only thing they knew was he was most likely gonna have a rare element.

'Now my element is...'

After checking, an ominous laughter slowly started to echo in the room.

Like his world, there were six primary elemental types in this world which were light, darkness, fire, water, earth, and wind, and all of these were decided at birth.

And apparently, the original Carl had the same aptitude with his element in the other world too. This was good news.

Carl was called a genius in his former world and in turn had been a receiver of support and resources from his parents in his path to magic, but his enormous success was not caused by that simply.

Not because he was born into an affluent family or a long line of mages, but because he had a strong aptitude for a very rare element!

Seeing that the original Carl had the same element, a smile appeared on his face, as a transparent mass of dark matter reflected on his retinas and then it slowly cracked a smile and roared ominously.

_ROAAAR_

After a split second, it instantly disappeared right after, and his eyes were back to normal.
