Chapter 38: The Birthday-Scavengers

I woke up to the sound of Trisha's voice in my ear. She was humming a tune and stroking my hair. I opened my eyes and saw her smiling face. She kissed me softly and said, "Good morning, birthday guy."

I groaned and pulled her closer. "It's too early to celebrate. Let's stay in bed for a while."

She giggled and shook her head. "No, no, no. You have to get up and get ready. I have a surprise for you."

I raised an eyebrow. "A surprise? What kind of surprise?"

She winked at me and said, "You'll see. Trust me, you'll love it. Now come on, get dressed. I'll meet you downstairs in ten minutes."

She kissed me again and jumped out of bed. She grabbed a towel and headed to the bathroom. I watched her go, admiring her curves and her grace. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and I still couldn't believe she was mine.
