Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Stealing your Boss and Your Skills!

안녕하세요

Three players, a typical party consisting of a damage-dealer (DPS), a healer, and a tank, were hiding behind a rock, staring at a creature not that far away.

"Can we take this thing down? It's level 7, two levels higher than us, and it's a boss!" said the priest.

They were not feeling confident about trying to fight the boss, especially with only the three of them. But their friend, the archer who knew about this place, kept saying everything would be fine.

"Do you know why I have faith we can kill it?" the archer asked.

The other two shook their heads, waiting for the response.

"My friend who beta tested the game showed me a video of him killing it, and all we have to do is stay on top of this rock and kill the boss with long-range attacks!"

"What? So we're going to exploit this?"

That piece of information calmed everybody down. If it was an exploit, and their friend was so confident about it, then it should work!

They climbed the rock with little difficulty, and instead of the tank player aggroing the boss like always, the archer shot an arrow.

5 DMG

The damage was low, but if the boss couldn't hit them back, it should be fairly easy.

"Now the boss will turn around to face us, but it will stay there," the archer said.

He had seen the video of his friend cheesing the boss in the beta test. But things didn't go according to plan.

- Rock Lizard (Bronze Field Boss)

- Level 7

The rock lizard dashed toward them at fast speed, using its body to break the rock they were using as a platform to cheese it.

"Watch out!"

The party's tank took the lead, going in front of the archer and using a shield skill.

- Block

It could block all damage, but the cooldown was long, which meant their life-saving ability had been used at the start of the battle!

The priest and the warrior were pissed with their friend who tried to exploit the boss. Of course it wouldn't work! It had happened during the game's beta test!

Would the game company let things like that pass? Not at all. The archer was naive to think otherwise.

"Focus! We can win against the boss!"

The archer still could not give up! He firmly believed they had a chance in winning against that boss!

Sebastian and the two girls he had just met were hiding, watching and hearing everything.

"So they wanted to cheese the boss? Shameless," Fairy whispered.

"What should we do? Go there to help them?" Berserker asked.

If all of them worked together to kill the boss, all six players, then surely they would succeed, but the rewards and the XP would be split, making it a not-so-good thing.

What Sebastian had in mind, and Fairy wanted to try too, was to "KS" the boss (kill steal).

"Let us watch to learn the boss's skills, and if these guys are decent and managed to get the boss to low HP, we wait and steal it!" Sebastian said.

If they managed to kill-steal the boss, then those three players would surely get pissed off and look to get revenge on Sebastian, Fairy, and Berserker.

But so what? The game was massive, and it was not like they would stop their early grind—an important aspect if they wanted to keep up with the other players—just to keep trying to kill them.

The first person to kill the boss would get a hefty bonus reward, and that was what Sebastian, Fairy, and Berserker were all looking for. However, something came up as they were watching the fight.

"Fairy," Berserker said, "we have to log out. Mother wants us to go pick her up from the hospital."

Sebastian was right beside them, so he heard it. It was a serious matter, and despite feeling a little sad about the two girls leaving—it would become harder for him to kill-steal the boss—he said nothing.

Fairy looked sad too, and she acted first, clicking on the party members tab and sending Sebastian a friend request.

"We can play together some time, or help each other out. You look like a solo-type player, and me and my sister are a duo! But that doesn't mean we can't do something together sometimes!"

She was not the only one who sent a friend request. Berserker did too, but she said nothing.

"Bye-bye! And don't try something stupid to lose your XP. Let them have this boss," Fairy warned Sebastian before logging out.

Sebastian was the only one who remained there, watching the other party fight the boss. He obviously accepted their friend request.

'They look cute and are nice people. It will be good to have them to do other content, those I cannot do solo!'

After what his "friends" did to him at the start of the game, Sebastian was not feeling like going into random parties or trusting people like a naive person.

But those two girls looked gentle, and doing something together inside the game from time to time would not hurt. It was not like they would become a stable party or something.

Anyway, Sebastian watched up close as the party tried everything to kill the boss. They were slowly chipping away at its HP, reaching 30%!

Before that, the boss was only doing normal attacks, but once reaching that HP threshold, it started using its skills!

Rock Toss

The lizard slammed its front paw on the ground, creating a rock before it, and tossed it at the players! Up to that point, the block ability from the warrior had refreshed its cooldown, so he was able to block it!

"Good job!" The priest said.

They were hoping that it was like a one-time attack or had some cooldown, but no. The lizard did the same move, tossing another rock toward them, and this time, it hit the tank with all its might!

The warrior's HP dropped to 15%.

"Healing you!" The priest yelled.

Sebastian could see that the fight was looking to end soon, so he stealthily cast his Spell Thief spell! He cast it on all of them!

The players noticed a strange blue light around their bodies, but thought it was an attack from the boss or something. But then the same light shone on the boss too!

They noticed Sebastian's presence, saw his smirk, and a shiver ran down their spines.

'This player is up to no good!'
