Chapter 2: Spot the target

There was a waiter right in front of Jennifer and they had long since secretly settled the bill, ready to get up.

The target exited the entrance of the bar and walked a little further before turning into a side alley and heading deeper into the back of the bar.

The back of the bar was a huge contrast to the front, the front was brightly lit and the back of the bar was dark.

Jennifer and Don kept a distance and followed, seeing from a distance that Jeff suddenly joined a man who emerged from the darkness at the next intersection.

The two didn't stop and continued on side by side.

The road ahead became more and more deserted, almost reaching a deserted industrial area, and at a fork in the road the two men suddenly separated.

Jennifer saw that there was no time to make a decision and asked Don to follow the other man, while she continued to follow her target.

Don was very worried and said, "You can't do it alone, it's dangerous."

Jennifer said, "It's too late, let's keep in touch and ask for reinforcements quickly if there is any situation."

By now we had reached an abandoned industrial area, there was no light and there was not a single passerby in sight.

Jeff walked up to a factory gate in front of him, which was locked, and pushed his way in through a small door next to it, looking as if he was familiar with the place.

Jennifer looked around the factory gate and saw no one or anything out of the ordinary. She quickly posted up and stood by the small door and listened for movement inside.

She pushed the door gently and it was unlocked.

Jennifer probed it and looked inside, it was still an aisle and there was no view of the factory.

At the end of the corridor she turned to her left, the factory was dimly lit and the various miscellaneous items were piled up in such a mess that she could not see the whole picture.

Two steps ahead, a man suddenly flashed out from next to a pile of boxes and stood directly in front of Jennifer, face to face.

This man was not Jeff, he was about 188 years tall, with a sturdy body and a square face, 38 or 39 years old, he looked like a mixed race.

Jennifer hesitated for a moment and then suddenly realised that this man was Bob! There had been no photo of him at the station, just a portrait, and the light was tantalisingly low, so she did not recognise him immediately.

She pulled out the handcuffs she was carrying and drank, "Don't move!" It was at this point that Marco felt a chill run down his back.

It was too late to dodge before seeing what happened, and there was a gust of wind, a direct hit to the head, and instant unconsciousness.

I don't know how long it took, but Jennifer felt the sharp pain in her head and gradually came to her senses.

She woke up with a shock.
