Chapter 13: Chapter Thirteen

"So, let me get this straight..."

I started, rubbing the bridge of my nose and looking at the holographic map that was displayed in front of me.

"So the aracnid made the nest a few months ago, but one dumbass decided that since it was small, they could look it over and then forgot to report it?"

Winter Schnee nodded seriously as if this was normal. Woman, you need better soldiers, no you need smarter soldiers.

"Okay, can I disintegrate him after the mission?"

I asked, a little hope seeping into my voice, but unfortunately, she was quick to murder it with a jaggic, rusty knife...

"No. He has been sufficiently punished."

I took a deep breath and sighed, placing a finger on the hologram that turned red at my touch and circled a few areas.

"We will have to search these areas, too, and quite the large portion of the surrounding area... Are you sure I can't disintegrate this guy?"

Unfortunately, the answer was still no.

Sighing, I took out a cigarette and lit it with my lighter, getting Winter to wrinkle her nose and look at me as if to tell me something, which might or might not be something about telling me to stop what I was doing.

I might or might not have ignored it, letting out the smoke gathered in my lungs.

"Alright, do I get any backup or do I have to do everything on my own?"

She scowled at me and shook her head.

"No, you will have my assistance, along with Ace-Ops. We will be performing a frontal attack on the first confirmed nest, then split up around the area to get rid of the others surrounding the biggest one where we will meet and take it out together."

Ah, that was a sound plan... for a fucking amateur. If the plan was made by the ace ops they must be a new team, inexperienced, and this must be the first time they faced a giant arachnid nest.

"Yeah no, first of all, that's dumb, second of all that's dumb, third of all, we will not be doing that."

I pointed out helpfully, getting a raised eyebrow in response.

"Ozpin sent me to help because I have experience with this Grimm, fortunately for me, Dantte was with me there, so instead of days, it only took us two hours to clear out approximately nine nests. Unfortunately for you, Dantte isn't here, so this will take me a day at the minimum, but considering the fact that I have to take into account your team's aura recovery time, We will be here for a week."

Now, she looked offended. What, did she think this was a job that would take an hour and we could go home and enjoy hot cocoa? Well, tough shit.

"The best thing we can do, in order to not be overrun, is to attack the biggest nest and take it down as soon as possible. If we went with your plan, we would be overrun."

I pointed at the main nest while leaning back against the wall of the ship.

"And would you be so kind as to tell me why would that be?"

Ah, she sounded irked. If Dantte was here, he would press the advantage to piss her off so much that she would attack.

Unfortunately for her, I wasn't Dantte, I was brutal with the truth.

"This kind of grim is like a Hive mind. If one of the nests is attacked, it will send the newly spawned ones to request reinforcements, While we are dealing with one nest, the main nest will overwhelm us with sheer numbers. They develop intelligence fast, incredibly so, the queen of the main nest is smarter than an alpha Beowulf. Aura would be drained when faced with waves of unending spiders and we would have to retreat, giving them the time to replenish their forces. Case in point, we would be stuck in a loop."

I shrugged specialist? More like special needs.

Oh, I would be making that joke in the future.

-Back in Vale-

In a dark room, where the only source of light was the sun rays that were peeking through the window blinds, a man sat in front of a table,

The black suit he was wearing fit snugly on in body, Showing off his frame but concealing the muscles, beneath it.

His fingers were intertwined, palms covered in black, leather gloves, and hair concealed by a black Trilby hat while his elbows rested on the armrests of his swiveling chair.

The door opened, bathing the room in light, and casting a square shadow on the wall in front of the figure.

"Boss, the heist was successful, no casualties."

The figure in the chair turned around, leaning forward and grinning.

"Good, take sixty percent and divide it among the crew, inform ground Gamma that there will be a debriefing of another robbery in two hours so they should get ready."

The figure leaned back as the man who came in to deliver the information nodded and turned around to leave, but he looked back at his superior for a moment.

"Would you like me to turn on the lights, Boss?"

There was silence for a few seconds before the said boss sighed.

"Please do, thank you."

The lights were turned on, and everything in the room was finally visible, revealing Dantte sitting in the Swiveling chair, now left alone with his thoughts.

"Man, this isn't exciting at all, I don't get to do shit!"
