Chapter 2: Last Days of Highschool
"How are you feeling after that last Math exam, Luke?", asked Brandon, "I think I messed up the last question."
Brandon Hall was a giant of an 18 year old, standing at 6'7 with a solid amount of muscle. I think it has to do with his ability, Strength Amplification, because I've met his parents and they're normal height of around 5' 10. He has bright blonde hair, blue eyes and also a 'bright' smile according to his crushes, whatever that means.
"The last question is the hardest on the paper but I think I got it right. Overall, I think I did pretty well.", replied Luke.
Luke Anderson had brown hair and green eyes. He stood at 6' and was pretty laid back, always lazing around in his chair. He's probably just tired all the time due to telekinesis taking a lot of energy to use.
These two were my closest friends, and we met each other when we all got put on the accelerated hero programme of our highschool. To be put in this learning programme, which is dedicated for students who have a chance of entering a hero university, you must first awaken a 'strong' ability, that hero universities are looking for. These could either be abilities that could be useful in the research of science, or abilities which allow you to beat up any villain and restrain them.
I awakened my ability when I just hit 12 years old. Pretty much everyone awakens their abilities as soon as they hit puberty, with girls awakening theirs first at around 10 years old. Other may awaken theirs slightly later. When you awaken an ability, you normally just wake up with the feeling that something in your body has changed, physically or mentally. You would immediately know how to manifest that ability, just like you would know how to move your finger. People rarely lose control of their ability. Afterwards, you just have to register the ability at the hospital and they do a little testing. All this data is recorded on your profile by the government.
My heaven-defying, earth-shattering, peerless ability that had to have been specially tailored for me, is the ability to create illusions within an area, or create hallucinations for a target who has made eye contact with me. Hallucinations last for a specific amount of time, whilst the illusions in an area last as long as I have the energy and mental focus to maintain them. I'll explain another time.
"Ah you guys shouldn't worry too much about the tests, because I'm sure we will all get the required grades for our hero course.", I told them, "We are the best in the class anyways."
The 2 friends smiled at me and slapped me on the back, with Brandon's slap actually hurting a lot.
"Ugh, f*ck you Brandon I shouldn't have said anything you muscle head.", I whimpered. "I'll be heading home now, see you guys later."
"He's going to go look for another victim again.", grimaced Luke. "I still remember the first time I met you when you scared the sh*t out of me."
I laughed as he brought up good times. These guys do know me best.
