Chapter 185: A rat in hand(2)
The two walked towards the strange looking building that looked like someone had sew on additional parts of other buildings at random to it. Moody used disillusionment on himself and Nick knocked on the thick wooden door. A middle aged looking man with red hair and freckles opened the door wide letting Moody pass by silently while he greeted Nick. "You must be Ron and the others father , pleased to meet you officially. Nicholas Ravenclaw!" Nick greeted the man with a smile that looked completely natural. "Arthur Weasley , my sons have spoken nothing but praise for you since they came home." the man tried to act normal but clearly still was a bit stiff.-
"Not to worry I'll make sure they are well taken care of while I am here." Nick said with a double meaning that the man picked up on and seemed to relax a little. "Enough gabbing about at the door please come in , we were just eating breakfast so when we are done the boys are all yours." Arthur said with his own double meaninged sentence. Basically Nick and Moody were to wait until after breakfast to move on Pettigrew so it doesn't effect his family as much.-
"As it just so happened I myself haven't had breakfast yet I do hope I might join in if it's no trouble?" Nick said with his same smile. The woman of the house Molly Weasley spoke up from the table nearby where the family was eating "It's no bother at all dear please pull up a seat!" she said and with a wave of her wand had a chair and a plate ready and waiting. Nick thanked her for her kindness with a genuine smile this time and sat down before adding some bacon and eggs to the plate and began to eat.-
"Do you add peppercorn to the bacon?" he soon asked tasting the flavor from the crispy thick cut bacon. Molly smiled widely "Oh my yes , though no one ever seems to notice!" she said happy to brag about her cooking skills. Nick nodded "The trick to really bring out the flavor is to roast the things before you grind them." he said helpfully causing a look of surprise to cross Harry's and the entire Weasley families faces. "You cook?" Ron asked incredulously and Nick genuinely chuckled "I dabble a bit , nothing to brag about I assure you." he said humbly despite it being untrue.-
In his memory right now there were countless recipe's from the books at Hogwarts that he had learned though most were outdated by a lot. "Nonsense , simply being able to cook is more than I can say for any of my boys despite my insistence." Molly said as if she was trying to hint for her children to be more like him. Arthur was much more relaxed seeing how calmly Nick was handling the situation while Moody was trying to figure out how he was so good at inserting himself into a situation so seamlessly as it was a great skill to have.-
Breakfast passed by with none of the the unaware seeing through Nick as he even snuck some food to Peter to get the man to lower his guard even further , after all who acts kind before attacking you normally? After the meal was over Nick , Ron and Harry were left in the living room with Ron's parents as the rest all left to do something or other. Ah! Right before I forget I have a gift for your pet rat." Nick said like he had suddenly remembered.-
"Really? What for?" Ron asked confused and surprised. "I hadn't really thought of it before but there is a lot of cats at Hogwarts and it's honestly lucky none of them have gotten him yet so I made a ring to protect it from attacks. The best part is that it also works as a collar so no one might think it's not owned if he gets out." Nick said while taking the prepared ring out of Greed with a smile. Ron smiled widely "Thanks mate , you're the best!" he said and held the rat up eagerly.-
Peter was also very interested in a personal protective object since much like Nick had said he had only evaded getting eaten by a cat by being smart enough to escape. Nick held the ring in front of the rat's face and it eagerly pressed it's whole head through the hole before freezing as the magic took hold. Rapidly the rat grew heavier and heavier as it's size increased causing Ron to drop it in horror as soon a fat mouse faced man was laying on the floor with a shocked expression. Moody dropped his charm and appeared seemingly out of thin air. "Peter Pettigrew you are under arrest for being an illegal Animagus as well as helping the dark lord murder Lily and James potter." he spoke harshly with his wand pointed at Peter.
