Chapter 15: Ch-15: Mother and Father

"ADAM, MY BABY BOY!" The woman exclaimed with unbridled joy, her voice filled with overwhelming affection. As she leaped towards him, Adam's face contorted in panic, realizing that he had momentarily forgotten just how excessively doting his mother could be.

The sheer force behind her leap astonished Adam, causing him to doubt how a woman of her size could possess such strength. Memories flooded back to him, recalling the times when he would find himself sprawled on the ground after his mother's enthusiastic tackles. He couldn't help but be grateful for the physical strength he had gained, knowing that without it, he might have seriously injured himself during such moments of exuberant affection.

With a grip that seemed unyielding, the woman enveloped Adam in her arms, oblivious to the sheer strength she possessed. Her hands clung to his back like vice grips, and she pulled his head towards her ample bosom, unintentionally suffocating him and making it difficult for him to catch his breath

"L-Lady Amber, you are suffocating the young master," Alex stuttered, his voice filled with concern as he tried to remind Amber Bright, Adam's mother, of the dire situation unfolding before them. His eyes widened with alarm as he observed Adam's face turning blue, a clear sign of oxygen deprivation.

"Shut your mouth, Alex! My baby boy finally turned 18 and this might be the last time I will get to show such affection because in the future his wives will take care of him" Amber snapped back, her tone laced with frustration. She locked eyes with him, her glare intense, silencing him immediately. Aware of Amber's fierce protectiveness, Alex knew better than to provoke the lioness.

In his mind, Alex couldn't help but think, 'He needs to be alive to get married. The way you are suffocating him, he might not even make it to that day.' However, he wisely chose to keep his thoughts to himself, avoiding any further confrontation.

"M-mother," Adam stuttered, his voice strained as he tapped his mother's back, desperately signaling that he was out of breath. As he felt his face turning a shade of purple from the lack of air, his mother reluctantly released him from her embrace, realizing the urgency of the situation.

Huff... Huff...

Adam began panting heavily, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he struggled to draw in much-needed air, compensating for the previous deprivation.

After catching his breath he looked at his mother who was smiling at him in horror and remained himself not provoke the woman even if he became powerful

"Amber, have you gone mad?" Alvin Bright, Adam's father, began to say, his voice tinged with concern, but the moment he caught his wife's gaze, he immediately halted his words. He recognized the dangerous glint in her eyes, that was when he would sometimes slip off and refer to her as mad

"What was that, dear?" Amber replied, a sinister smile playing on her lips. The unsettling expression sent shivers down Alvin's spine, causing his tone to become meek as he replied.

"Dear wife, why are you hugging this stranger? And how could you, Alex, say this is Adam? I mean, I know our son is not as handsome or strong as this young man. You must have misrecognized him," Alvin explained to both Amber and Alex, trying to deflect attention away from his son. Unbeknownst to Alvin, Adam felt invisible arrows piercing his heart

"I know you're not as young as before judging from your performance in bed, but is your vision also degrading with age that you don't recognize our own son?" Amber's dissatisfaction seeped into her words, leaving a bitter undertone. Alvin's failure to recognize Adam struck a nerve in her and invisible arrows pierced his heart.

'Damn woman, why are you airing our private matters in public? Just because I'm not as young as I used to be doesn't mean my eyesight is failing,' Alvin complained inwardly, frustration simmering within him. Meanwhile, Adam couldn't help but be amused, watching his father's predicament unfold before his eyes.

Count Alvin, regaining his composure, narrowed his eyes as he scrutinized Adam, observing him intently. With each passing moment, shock washed over him as he began to notice the striking similarities between the Adam of the past and the present. His mouth hung open, a mix of disbelief and realization flooding his expression, as he finally recognized his own son.

"Adam, is that really you?" Alvin's voice trembled slightly, his eyes still fixed on Adam, unable to tear his gaze away.

"Took you a long time to recognize me, old man," Adam responded, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.

"Who are you calling old, you brat?" Alvin playfully berated Adam, a smile breaking through the astonishment as he finally recognized his son, a wave of familiarity washing over him upon hearing the familiar voice.

"But how? How did you change so much?" Alvin asked, genuine curiosity coloring his tone as he sought an explanation for the transformation he witnessed in his son.

"Puberty," Adam replied simply, a hint of amusement lacing his voice.

"It must be indeed puberty," Amber chimed in simultaneously, she thought this might be the only reason for such a change

'Wait, but that's not what Lord Adam said before, he said it was due to training' Alex thought to himself, his mind brimming with conflicting thoughts. He contemplated speaking up when his gaze inadvertently met Adam's.

At that moment, something unspoken passed between them, a silent understanding that halted Alex's words in his throat. He realized that Adam, in his own way, had his reasons for the response he had given. It was not his place to question or intervene. With a subtle nod, Alex chose to respect the unspoken agreement and remained silent, allowing the conversation to continue without his interference.

"Whatever. Now you look handsome, just like I did in my younger days when I was always accompanied by a group of beautiful women," Alvin remarked, a smug look playing across his face.

"Hmph, as if! You may have been handsome, but not nearly as much as our son," Amber retorted dismissively. She continued with a snort, "Furthermore, if it wasn't for me showing an interest in you and being the one to propose, you'd probably still be using your hands, and Adam might never have been born."

The room fell into a stunned silence as everyone processed Amber's bold statement. Alvin, caught off guard, felt as if he had almost coughed out blood upon hearing his wife's words.
