Chapter 155: Wandering Spirit

Nikolai no longer dwelled on the matter, but an unsettling feeling lingered inside him. Something seemed off, as he was not someone who would easily pass out, even when drunk.

"I am sorry Lai. Maybe it's because I'm taking more of your energy than I should," Mineah suddenly said after a terse silence.

'Could that be the reason?' he wondered. Nikolai was not familiar with the side effects on his body, as it was the first time he had his energy drained like that. However, he didn't feel weaker at all. He brushed off the negative thoughts and believed that Mineah might be right. After all, he told her she could get the energy she needed directly from him anytime.

"Lai, I think last night I absorbed too much energy from you," Mineah weakly murmured.

Nikolai's mind wandered to his wife's passionate actions last night and he couldn't help but tease, "It's alright, Mine. You worked hard last night, so I don't mind if you really sucked me dry."
