Chapter 130: Lil Princess

"In that case, I'll get headquarters on the line and make sure they're prepped ASAP, alright? The major platforms we've partnered with have their download payment channels primed and ready. The single's official release is in just three days. We've got a tight schedule and a hefty task ahead. So, you better be ready to go all in."

True to Yun Jie's words, not just iTunes and Light Cloud Music, even the international giant YouTube was on board for this release. Miaoyi had quite the lineup of platforms. Not too long ago, these platforms had already activated their pre-set download channels, just waiting for the moment the single would hit the airwaves.

Sure, those download channels might be as empty as a hermit's address book right now, but even if someone had the itch to buy, there was simply no way to scratch it.

Yet, in the music industry, there was an unbreakable rule: if the channels were set up, you had five days before an official single materialized. So, timing-wise, Miaoyi and the team needed to be swift on their feet. Fans couldn't be left hanging.

With Miaoyi's affairs seemingly on track, Yun Jie bore a victorious grin.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly. The plan was coming together...

"Mhm, go ahead," Miaoyi released a slightly exasperated sigh. Flopping down on the couch, she felt like a deflated balloon.

"Okay, then. I'm outta here. You guys best move quickly with that press release. We'll likely be reaching out to the venue and media soon. Odds are it'll be in the capital, and a chauffeured car should be swinging by to pick you both up today."

A faint twitch touched Miaoyi's lips. "So, you've got everything sorted out already?"

"Well, I did ask for your thoughts, didn't I?" Yun Jie's head dipped, revealing a sheepish grin.

Miaoyi suddenly felt like she'd been expertly maneuvered into this position, and the exhaustion hit her like a truck. "Fine, fine, fine. Just go."

"Hehe."

Yun Jie left in quite the rush. He hadn't even managed to finish his bag of chips – now that's dedication.

Often in this line of work, once managers get busy, they end up busier than the artists themselves. It's a demanding gig, to say the least.

As for Qiuying, since it was the weekend, she was taking the rare chance to kick back. Cooking was off the menu; she was all about that takeout life.

Miaoyi remained horizontal a bit longer. With a reluctant sigh, she finally heaved herself up, freshened up, and waited for the takeout to arrive. After devouring her breakfast, she and Qiuying hashed out the conference details.

Miaoyi would take charge of the press release from beginning to end. Qiuying had little to worry about. The most crucial reminder Miaoyi needed to give Qiuying was to pack up swiftly and not forget anything essential. Yun Jie had casually mentioned that a car would be dispatched soon to scoop them up.

It was possible that they'd be whisked away on a jet plane bound for East Records' capital headquarters.

The whole sequence of events felt like a whirlwind.

However, before leaving, she could check the reactions to her videos and perhaps do some self-promotion to complement the conference.

In no time, Miaoyi found herself fervently seated in front of her bedroom computer, firing up Weibo and Bilibili to gauge the reactions to her new videos. A satisfied smile curved her lips as she took it all in.

No doubt about it, the buzz surrounding the dance videos had officially ignited. With the impending single release just around the corner, this was definitely a promising sign. Who knew, it might even give the sales figures a decent little nudge.

It wasn't just Bilibili; even Weibo's comment sections were on the brink of exploding. Beneath the latest posts, discussions about the dances crowded together like overzealous shoppers on Black Friday.

"Princess, our Little Fairy, how about a wager? If the sales go boom this time, can we fans expect some treats?"

"<3333, Princess really went all out. That cat girl outfit is legit fire."

"..." Miaoyi observed these comments silently.

All the credit for this hullabaloo went to Qiuying. Miaoyi wasn't even in the same ZIP code as these shenanigans.

"I'm loving TMY's style, true to her word. She says it, she does it. She'd grit her teeth and drink vinegar if she had to. Unlike certain folks who just talk, talk, talk for the spotlight!"

"Princess, no hiding! Spill the tea – how'd it feel wearing that cat girl getup?"

"I hopped onto the hype train because of your rep, gosh darn it! This is unreal, right? You've got two trending topics on Weibo in your honour. First one to make trending with a dance, legends only."

As Miaoyi scrolled through these comments, she thought, 'Well, that's par for the course, no biggie.' But every time she read how her fans addressed her, her face would involuntarily crinkle. No matter how many times they were said, It seemed she could never get used to it.

For some inexplicable reason, two new nicknames had sprung up among her fans lately: 'Electric Princess' and 'Little Fairy'. Frankly, these names made her skin crawl a bit. They had a certain eerie ring to them.

Now Miaoyi was not only Miaoyi, she had countless other monikers, just like any other famous person. And, the online users showcased the astonishing ability of the people of the 'Land of the Dragon' to come up with nicknames.

As for trolls, they called her 'Epilator' (a hair removal device), fans addressed her as 'Princess', and some enigmatic internet users nicknamed her 'Cunning Miaoyi'. Basically, every possible name was there, all visible in the comments under her Weibo posts.

Amidst all this, she caught sight of her follower count, especially that first digit. Not too long ago, it had made the grand leap from '1' to '2'.

What did that mean?

Keep in mind that compared to other celebrities in showbiz, Miaoyi's Weibo had always been refreshingly unadorned. Considering this version of China was packing a population several times Earth's, twenty million followers was nothing to sneeze at. And these weren't just for show; these were genuine twenty million. Miaoyi was now securely seated in the entertainment realm.

This was living up to her 'Top 100 DJ' moniker she sported.

Even though mindless trolls often scoffed at this 'Top 100' as 'Diluted Top 100', was it truly diluted?

Fans were quick to counter these trolls in inventive ways.

And amidst all this, Miaoyi also spotted something peculiar: sprinkled among the comments were pure foreign language remarks left by international Weibo users. Their numbers might not have been astronomical, but they were noticeable. This got Miaoyi thinking.

Maybe she should consider opening up to international social networks?

After all, electronic music had a passport that transcended national borders. Initially, Miaoyi didn't plan on being confined to her homeland for long. Now, she wondered if she could test the waters beyond her home country and see how many fans she might have internationally.

Seeing that follower count finally brought a genuinely pleased expression to her face. She didn't need to add any more words; she just typed away at her keyboard and posted on Weibo.
