Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Theological connotations on time/space travel

He's never been a religious person. Not even particularly when he used to accompany his parents to church in his childhood.

In his mind, it was simply uncomfortable to take statements and information at face value with no degree of reproducibility.

There was in fact a layer of curiosity on the etymology of various religions and mythological settings created by man and naturally on the psychological repercussions they had on populations, but as anything other than learning resources he did not have any major interest.

Which is why waking upon after his death brought his entire mind to a standstill.

The memories and feelings he had just recently experienced as he prepared for and finally accepted his own death kept repeating and processing in his brain as he tried to find a plausible explanation to this extraordinary phenomenon.

Despite his confusion, he forced himself to refocus his vision and found sturdy and dense lumber of some kind where there previously was concrete.

He turned his head with difficulty as he tried to inspect the room, his efforts wasted when only darkness and some kind of wooden fence met his eyes.

At this moment, he took a deep breath while closing his eyes, knowing that whatever situation he found himself in he needed to keep a calm and rational mind.

He had died, and now he was alive again.

He did not suspect for even a moment to find himself on a christian version of heaven nor hell. Much less did he think he was dreaming or hallucinating.

For one, even if he was, there would be no point in worrying or making conjectures on theological scenarios he did not believe in. If he was in fact in heaven or hell, he'd have no control over his current and future actions.

Therefore, he decided to operate under the simple and yet undeniably complex assumption that, he had died, and now he was alive again.

Aside from awakening uncomfortable feelings related to the state of existence of higher intelligent beings, the transposition of his consciousness across time and space certainly ignited his curiosity on the composition of his working mind and naturally on the existence and nature of the soul.

Which, as previously stated, he had distanced himself from all his life.

A muffled sound that resembled a groan distracted him out of his introversion as he turned his gaze past the thin fence around him to find other structures that had uncanny resemblance with his very own prison.

The movement of a small form within the wooden cage, and the successive groans and whimpers echoing within the room displayed a picture he frankly was beginning to wish against.

His gaze returned to the high lumber ceiling when his left hand rose closer to his face, staring and confirming with definite acuity that, he was in the body of an infant.
