Chapter 3: The next Emperor of Atelah

The shuffling and chatter fill the room as the counsels and the administrators go back into their assigned areas but only the assigned people are not alive in this world's face anymore, their ashes rose into the dark sky. And being their daughter Celeste can't even do anything to give them the justice they deserve.

It is said that tomorrow, Delian will legally take over the kingdom and embellish the undeserving head of his with the crown Celeste's dad had worn with promise and pride. Does she have a say in it? As pathetic as it may sound, it's a no.

Everyone's out now leaving her and Delian in the vast room. Celeste can't seem to collect herself up from the chair, because this feels too real. The fact that she can't go to her parents when she gets out of there is killing her and she wants to die. Why is he not killing her?

The white wall she was facing doesn't justify her so she swirl her head to find Delian's eyes watching her every movement.

Why's he here with me in the first place? Celeste thinks.

"Why don't you kill me already?" she asks him. His eyebrows crumble as if he wasn't expecting these words from her, lips pursing as he looks at her with that look in his eyes that screams 'What do you mean?'.

Celeste wants to laugh at his cluelessness and scream at his audacity to feel that way all at the same time. He confuses her, and she hates that.

"Why would I kill you, my love?" Dalian asks with all his innocence. Innocence? Celeste would rather kill herself than think of him as innocent.

"Cut the crap, Delian." She looks at him with a long face that gives out no trace of the inner turmoil she's going through at this moment. "What do you and that ruthless father of yours want from me? Don't bother lying because I clearly know I wouldn't be alive if it was for nothing." No venom dripped down her words like she thought it would. They're just void and pale as she is.

"Dont say that,  my Cele. . . I would never, I love yo—"

"It's no use, I've seen you yesterday. And that's all I needed to know that you never loved me like I thought you did."

His hands glide to her cheeks, eyes desperately searching into hers. Celeste never realized she loved a maniac until now as he leans in and tries to connect their lips together like he had not assisted his father to kill Celeste's parents who oblige as his lover's parents.

Celeste travels her fingers through the silkiness of his raven hair before grabbing a handful with a twisty grip and pulling him away from her face. "Don't make me spit on your face again." She watched as Delian's jaw clenched shut. Brown eyes flashing red, fags peaking through his open lips in a hiss.

A knock on the door snatches her away from the burning of Delian's gaze as his eyes cut to the door. Jui stands at the entry, a troubled expression on her pale face. "What is it?" He barks at her.

"Your Majesty is asking for your presence in the court hall." She provides with a low bow.

"I will be there in a minute, Jui. Let my father know." Celeste's hand falls from his hair as he lets out a long sigh. A hand of his came up to stroke his forehead.

"I will see you." He rises to his feet, tall and almighty as he looks down on her.

         Down on her.

"I appreciate it if you don't. Spare me seeing this ugly face of yours." She says with a smile that dare not reach her eyes.

"Oh no, you found pleasure in seeing this ugly face of mine for years, my sweet Cele." The smile Delian gives her does reach his eyes in a wicked way that makes his eyes crinkle.

"And I was naive enough to find pleasure in something so horrendous." Celeste rises to her feet, walking off to her chamber without a word or a second glance flinging to his way.

What does she do now? Will she have to live here with these demons if they don't do her the favor of demising her? Or does she have to give herself the courtesy of doing that blatant thing of taking her own life away?

Is this how her parents raised her or does she know better than this?
