Chapter 7: Worst Guides Ever.

Nicki quietly followed the two girls that came for her, she has no idea where they were taking her and that's why she was behind them. So she can take to her heels the moment she figures out she's being led to some kind of death trap.

Don't blame her for having those kind of thoughts all the time. The Alpha might have been kind to her but he's not with her anymore and the people she was following also had weapons like everyone else in here.

What exactly do you expect her not to think about this place being a death trap?

"Uhm, can I know where you guys are taking me?" Nicki asked with the hope her question would be answered by one of the girls she was following, however, she was disappointed when none came.

"Okay, I think I will just keep that to myself" She decided to keep her mouth shut and not ask any more questions. It was obvious she was never going to get any answers if she kept on asking.

They kept on walking and halted when the three of them reached a certain room and stopped right in front of the door. One of the girls then brought out a key and opened the room. They first got inside before Nicki, whose jaws immediately dropped at the sight of what she was seeing.

"Oh, my….." She couldn't even complete her sentence due to the beauty she was seeing. Her senses even seemed to have left her too and the girls did the favor of making it return to her.

"You will be staying here starting today," One of the girls told her

"I'll be staying here? All by myself?" Nicki stared around the whole place. It was big, large should be the perfect word to use as the room was more spacious than the one she used to live in her house. In one word, this place was just gorgeous.

"And make sure you never get to stay out late or you would get punished. My name is Hannah, she's Astrid and we are your guide" The other girl said to Nicki, also introducing herself and her colleague to her.

"My guide? What do I need a guide for?" Nicki curiously turned to the girls and asked. Yeah, this place was big and looked quite a little bit confusing but she's not a kid that could get lost around here.

She would just ask around anytime it seems like she has lost her way.

"Every newbie gets a guide, especially one that used to be human. And you are very lucky you got two and us to be specific. We are the nicest guide anyone can wish to have around here" Hanna made known to Nicki, who wanted to know more about why she needs a guide.

The girls haven't really cleared her on that.

"I get that I'm a newbie but I'm better off without a guide. I don't see a reason why I need you guys" Nicki folded her arms between her chest and strongly shook her head to show the girls she meant every single word of hers.

The girls stared at her for a second before they suddenly burst into short laughter and stopped, organizing and keeping straight faces as professional guides once again.

"You are Nicki Landon, right?" Astrid chose to be the one to speak to Nicki this time, moving closer to her.

"Yes, I am," Nicki responded, not staggering or moving backward. She can't let these so-called guides of hers intimidate her, it will only make them think she's not a woman of her word.

She meant it when she said she was better off without them.

"Do you have any idea what everyone here is already saying about you? The girl who defied the Alpha and went unpunished?" Astrid stopped moving close to Nicki, their faces inches away from touching.

Nicki being a person who doesn't like it when one was too close in her space had to distance herself. She could feel Astrid's hot breath on her face which she didn't like.

"What are they saying about me?" Nicki wasn't scared to know what everyone was saying about her.

"First of all, I like how bold-faced you are" Astrid didn't move straight to the point, admiring the way her new student was. She kind of liked it, Nicki wasn't cocky but she has an attitude.

Which is just what she needed to survive here.

"That isn't what I want to know" Nicki wanted Astrid to go straight to the point and let her know what everyone was saying about her.

"The Alpha is impartial and he treats everyone equally but with you, things seem to be different. You are just a newbie and even if we get newbies here which hasn't been done in quite a long time now. Everyone still gets the same treatment so what I'm trying to say here is that I think the Alpha has a thing for you"

Astrid said and Hanna had to nudge her to stop her with what she was saying. She wasn't heading in the right direction.

"You don't know that, Astrid. Better don't start up rumors" Hanna told her.

"Excuse me?..." Nicki was slightly confused, she needed Astrid to say that one more time for her to get it.

"I said…." Astrid wanted to go on despite Hanna giving her signs not to. However, Hanna quickly cut her short letting her know.

"You know what would happen to if you if she goes out there and let everyone know what you just said. We are guides, we shouldn't act unprofessional in front of a student" Hanna made known to Astrid, who then shifted her attention to her.

"She wouldn't do that" Astrid confidently said.

"And how do you know that?" Hanna doubted her.

"Because she won't"

"Excuse me, but what the hell is going on here?" Nicki had to chip in since she had no idea what was going on again. One minute, her guides were talking to her and the next they were arguing with each other.

Astrid swiftly shifted her attention to her and didn't stop with what she made up about the Alpha having a thing for Nicki and she let her know it. "As I was saying, the Alpha likes you which is why you were left unpunished after defying him and even sent two guides. Such a thing do not happen here"

"Astrid!" Hanna yelled, her hand at the top of her forehead as if having a fever and in shame of Astrid acting unprofessional.

"The Alpha likes me? That's absurd" Nicki laughed off the claims of the Alpha possibly liking or even having a thing for her.

"I don't find anything funny with that" Astrid wasn't happy with Nicki Laughing and taking what she said for granted.

"The Alpha hasn't turned someone for years now and you are the first person he has turned in such a long while. Also, the first person being given this special kind of treatment. This room used to belong to his Luna before she moved out and not even I or Hanna, his oldest guides around here, has ever stepped foot inside this place, which is why I'm thinking about why it was given to you?"

Nicki swallowed at the sight of Astrid's finger pointing to her face. Didn't they say they were the nicest guides one could wish to have around here? The way she's acting towards her isn't the right definition of nice.

Hanna seems to be the nice guide here, not Astrid.

"Astrid, you better stop or I'm out of here. That's not what we were sent to do or let her know" Hanna couldn't stay any longer with Astrid acting so unprofessional without thinking of the consequences it could bring upon her.

If a single word of what she said here leaks or even worse, Nicki becomes the one who goes out telling everyone what she said to her. Astrid won't only be in big trouble or get punished but could get banished too.

Everyone knows the Alpha too damn well to use his name for any bad talks or even start-up rumors that aren't true.

"You….." Astrid kept her finger pointing at Nicki down as she decided to listen to Hanna this time although she wasn't done with Nicki yet. She will save this talk for another day.

"You are right, Hanna. This isn't what we were sent here to do" Astrid tried playing cool. "I apologize for what I said or any inconvenience it must have caused you" She apologized with a bow to Nicki, whose face had a deadpan look.

She forgot how to express how she was feeling at the moment.

"I hope everything that was said here stays. You won't mind doing that for me, would you?" Astrid let out a smile, the smile that Nicki has been looking for since she got here.

So the people in here could actually smile? They aren't bots?

Nicki could only nod positively since words refused to leave her lips.

"Okay then, I think we are good here. We will just let you know what you should have known in the first place and leave you to have a good rest. You have a lot to do and learn when tomorrow comes" Astrid started advancing towards the door while Hanna stayed to let Nicki know what she had known considering the fact Astrid seemed not to care to do it.

"You can walk around if you want but you must know once it's ten pm in the night, you ought to return here. And I advise you to try to get along with anyone and make friends, I mean a lot of friends. It's among the easiest ways to survive in this place but you should also know trying to make friends is as impossible as trying to count sand…."

Hanna let Nicki know the things she should and Astrid decided to help out.

"In one word, she's trying to tell you not to try to make friends with anyone here at all. In this place, that stuff doesn't work and no one trusts each other, and also making enemies is as easy as ABC. So the best advice I can give you is to not find trouble but to make yourself tough, popular, and powerful instead. It's the only way you can survive. You got an attitude already, I believe you can make it in here"

Hanna met up with Astrid by the door, and they finally summarized by saying to Nicki.

"Training starts by seven sharp, don't be late and make sure to change into the right outfit. Every single thing you need is neatly arranged and the instructions are pasted on the wall for you to understand. we'll come back to check up on you later, till then, adios"

Hanna and Astrid departed from the room, leaving Nicki to sort herself out.

"Worst guides ever.." She murmured under her breath, going to sit on the bed.

'Making friends is as impossible as counting sand' The words Hanna said before leaving started to play an effect in her head. So, they are trying to tell her she shouldn't have befriended Ariana.

The same Ariana who has been sweet and nice to her? Her guides must be trying to mess with her, Nicki thought and waved it aside. She will continue to be friends with Ariana till Ariana gives her the reason why she shouldn't trust her.
