Chapter 19: Rumblings in the Woods

After a long day everyone had come back home with their hauls of supplies, coming back with dead animals, materials, ore, fruits, fish as well as mushrooms and hops that Toxi can use to make a very important staple in a goblins diet, copious amounts of alcohol.

Just like Dwarves, Goblins and the rest of Goblin kind absolutely love to drink alcohol and to get drunk when we're home so getting hops and especially mushrooms that Mila can start to mass produce after getting her hands on some from out in the plains.

Shrooma is the most basic of alcohol for goblins to make so long as some one in the village is a brewer so with both Toxi and Mila working together we can all expect a few barrels of alcohol in a few days making everyone happy.

After that I counted what we had and looked it all over and decided to use all the wood we had gained to make four pull carts that would help us gather more than what the baskets on each girls backs could carry so they can ultimately bring back more food and materials to bring home and when we get enough along with horses we will have from the plains will begin to get even more materials and soon we will get more villagers to slowly expand my tribe into a real village.

For the most part we are either sticking to the territory under Terra's protection that covers over 1^2 mile for where we gather our supplies for the most part as it keeps out all the dangerous monsters from attacking us for the most part and deters the wild tribes from going into our territory as it would put them in a state of unease from entering but if their strong willed enough they can force their way in but suffer a debuff as a result.

Only groups that would be in real danger would be the ones that head towards the mountain to get iron ore along with those that go into the plains to gather wild grains, hops and mushrooms, but I'll probably have Mila head with the forestry team instead as theirs a better chance to find a wider variety in the woods than in the plains.

"We're gonna need a farmer and a blacksmith soon enough, hopefully the next batch of daughters of mine are interested in being blacksmiths or farmers, though if we could get some pig orcs to join us they would be the best farmers as their known for growing crops when meat is in short supply." I mumble to myself as I'm reorganizing the supply shack.

"We will also need a someone who's good at numbers to keep track of this stuff and another to help with keeping track of our treasure, though Rachel and Kat can fit that bill as they love gold and gems more than anything." I say before clapping my hands and wiping the sweat from my brow after organizing everything in here.

"It's sad my inventory isn't infinite in size so I can hold oh so much, I'm just glad we have this instead, it's like an external inventory in a sense." I say as I look everything over before I activate the build system for vehicles.

(N) Imagine the auto-build skill from Tears of the Kingdom and that's kinda what it looks like.

It grabbed all the necessary materials from the shack and brought them outside before taking the basic materials and changing them into parts that all came together to make four new basic pull carts.

"Good these will be good for tomorrow when we go out to gather more things." I say to myself and look at my work, luckily you can multiple vehicles at the same time and are considered within the same part of the same cue if there all the same type of vehicle at least, it's different for houses and such as they still have to go through the cue even if they are all the same type of building.

"Hmmm, I wonder if my system will get upgraded in the future to let me build multiple buildings at the same time." That could be very helpful when we begin to rapidly expand instead of having people making it themselves as that would slow things down as a result.

(N) I mean you guys know how long it takes to build houses if you or any family have had houses built for them, maybe didn't take as long back then as they weren't building houses that are as complex as ours but it still took a long time to have them built regardless.

But with those out of the way I turned my attention back to my family as they we're currently draining, skinning, cutting up and deboning our hauls of animals and fish.

Meanwhile another group was grinding down some of the rock salt they had gotten from the mountains and began to turn it into usable salt for meals and preserving the meats, hopefully when Fera and Vala get better at their magics will have some frozen storage made to keep our food from spoiling but giving the meats a salt rubs and hanging them out to dry will turn the excess meat into Jerky overtime which has a long lasting life, even if it's not to good it's good enough for emergency rations or food for long distance travel when foraging isn't optimal.

But as I was watching everyone I noticed both Vala and Fera looking towards the north for some reason, and I was getting a bad feeling in my gut, and not the kind I get when I eat bad food.

I walked up to them and looked at them and I could see them gripping their staff's tightly, "What's coming?" I say as I pull up my bear hood before gripping at my swords hilt at my side.

"Nothing good Dad." (Vala)

"The spirits of the woods are restless" (Fera)

Hearing that from them both our primary magic casters it really means something bad is coming our way.

"They haven't reached our territory yet, but their coming closer, it's not many but their strength makes up for their small numbers." Fera said as she listened to the spirits.

"Are they our kind or not?" I asked as I motioned the four Bokoblin leaders to grab their weapons and put on their pelt armors as they followed us along with Regina who also could tell something was wrong.

"No, their not…."

"Their not Bokoblins either, they wouldn't come from the north in the deep woods as they need to reach here through the mountains like us." Shazza said as she hefted her battle axe over her shoulder as she gave her input.

"Not goblins or those of goblinkind and not Bokoblins either, looks like whoever or whatever they are isn't coming here with good intentions…." I said as we got up onto the ramparts.

"…. They stopped?" Fera said a bit surprised that they stopped their approach of our home.

"Tch, they stopped at the boarder." I said as I got a ping from the system that strong unknown hostile were near the boarder with most of them having the symbol of a red skull icon on them, meaning they way outclassed me in strength.

"Four extremely strong ones, somewhere in the 30's to 40's in levels and two much weaker ones, looks more like they are escorting the weaker ones" I say as all I could see through the territory sensor.

"Could be that or it could be two monster families trying to move their children through our territory, but if they come into our lands they might begin to hunt our food for themselves." Xahka gives her input on this as well.

"Whatever they are, they ain't coming until morning as the sun is already setting for the night, so let's rest for the night and eat our fill as we prepare for dawn." I say before we leave the ramparts to go join the others to feast.

But one things for sure, will be sleeping with one eye open tonight.

(N) And the winner is….
