Chapter 13: Arnie has returned

Art's POV

It has been five long damned years since they last saw their mate. They have been tirelessly trying to locate her, but all to no avail. The more they seek her, the farther the trail.

Most times, it seems like someone was shielding her.

"Any news from your side?" Ard asked Art the moment they stepped into the office.

Dressed in an identical black shirt like that of his brother, with the only difference being the black slacks he was putting on, Ard looked like someone who hadn't slept for a long time.

Well, that's the same with his brothers. With their black hair seeming like something they countlessly ran a hand through — in frustration, probably.

"Funny enough, one of the Betas sent a reply last night." Ark ran a hand through his hair.

"About her?" The others asked, with their eyes wide.

"Yeah. But I'm still in doubt of his words." Ark stood up from his chair and walked over to the couch.

"What did he say?" Ard asked, looking like he was moments from shaking Ark, should he not say a word.

"She's back in the pack."

"What?!"

His brothers' screams were almost deafening.

"I doubt his words, but …." Art trailed off as he sat down on the couch.

"Do you think he spoke the truth?" Ark asked, pinching the bridge of his nose to hide how nervous he was.

"Why will she return?" Ard sat down next to Art. "I doubt that will be the case." He sighed, "she won't willingly return."

"But why did he claim she had returned? There must be an atom of truth in that." Art sighed, "though—"

A knock on the door interrupted their conversation.

The Alphas exchanged looks.

"Come in," Ark called out when the other didn't say a word.

Their secretary, a young woman in her twenties, entered the office. The black gown, she wore, perfectly accentuated her curves. Her blonde hair cascaded down her back in curly waves, further complementing her looks.

"Good afternoon, my Alphas." She beamed, showing off those white teeth of hers.

"What do you want?" Ard growled at her.

Almost instinctively, she lowered her head and bared her neck.

"My Alpha."

She shivered, swallowing like someone with a lump in her throat.

"What is it?" Ark narrowed his eyes at her.

"Someone is here to see you." She gulped.

"Who?"

"He claimed his name is Noah, and he has something important to tell you." She fidgeted a bit with the belt of her gown.

"Noah?"

The Alphas exchanged looks.

"Did he tell you the reason for his presence?" Ark asked, not ready to entertain one of their classmates back in high school.

"He said something about a person named Arnie. He—"

"Let him in!"

They growled at once, startling their secretary, who looked like she was just moments from jumping out of her skin.

"As you wish, my Alphas." She hurried out of the office, while the Alphas stood up from the couch they were sitting on.

"Do you think it's the same Arnie?" Ard asked Ark.

"I believe so. She's the only one we all know. He must be talking about her." Ard furrowed his brows, "wait until he confirms our suspicion."

It wasn't up to a minute before a knock came on the door.

"Come in." Art resisted the urge to rip the door open and demanded Noah tell him all about the woman, Arnie.

The secretary walked into the office, with Noah close on her heels.

Aside from the blood on his clothes, you won't know he barely survived a beating from an Omega, who trained for years, to become good in her work.

"My Alphas!"

Noah knelt on the ground the moment he stepped in and prostrated.

"You can leave." Art dismissed their secretary.

She bowed before she left the office, gently closing the door behind her.

The moment the door closed, the Alphas turned to Noah.

"Which Arnie were you talking about?" Ark asked, unable to hold himself off, any longer.

"Arnie! The Omega you ordered us not to bully. She's back in the pack!" Noah looked like one who had seen a ghost, with the way his eyes widened with fear.

"Arnie? Back in this pack?"

The Alphas' hearts were beating so loud that it seemed as if their heart were about to leap out of their chest with the way they kept hammering hard.

"Yes! But she's not the same Arnie that left the pack. She has changed." Noah shivered. "Though an Omega, she was able to..... hit me," he bit his bottom lip.

"Arnie?" Art smirked, "interesting."

He looked amused.

"Are you certain she was the one you met?" Ard asked, not ready to believe any of the words Noah spoke.

For years, he had been tirelessly looking for Arnie, with his brothers.

Most times, they travel out of the city whenever they get a lead on her. But all the time, they met dead ends.

It was as if Arnie were no more. However, the bond they felt was still there.

Had she died, they would have felt the bond getting severed. However, it was still there. Though it wasn't as strong as it was during Arnie's eighteenth birthday.

"She's the one I saw, my Alphas. She called me by my name." He shivered, "she spoke something about revenge. I don't know what it means, but I don't think it's anything good."

"Revenge?" Ard smirked. "Sounds so much like her."

"Where is she now?" Art raised a brow at Noah.

"I don't know. She met me before the pack forest. And after the um… Fight…." He nervously scratched his hair. "After that, she left. I didn't wait to see where she went. I hurried over to tell you."

"Fuck! Why didn't you follow her!" Ark growled, looking like he was minutes from murdering Noah, who was currently questioning his decision.

He regretted coming over to tell the Alphas of their mate when he saw her.

"You can leave." Ard pinched the bridge of his nose. "Alert the others that the hunt is about to start. Whosoever sees her first, gets a reward, worth millions."

"I saw her—"

Ard shot a glare at him. "You will only receive a reward when you give her location."
