Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Something big is happening

The bullet was about to hit the head of the wolf before he could reach the man, but it missed just by a little, flying past the ears of the wolf. Sensing danger, the wolf changed his directions. The man was protected as the wolf ran in a different direction.

The wolf didn't stay there for long as it started running again, dodging another bullet.

The cop ran towards the wolf as he fired another shot towards the wolf, but it missed again. He knew that he couldn't put people's life in danger. He needed to stop the wolf or kill him before he could take a life!

A man appeared to be sleeping in the empty grass fields inside a forest. There was not even a shred of clothing on the man's body.

It seemed to be the early morning. The sun had just started rising but the sky was covered in some clouds, one of which happened to be just above him, protecting the man from the sunlight.

The man wasn't entirely alone as he slept in the soft grass. There was another body lying barely three meters away from him. The body belonged to a massive bear who had a hole in his chest and some scratch marks all around his body.

He appeared to be killed brutally by a fierce beast as even marks of sharp teeth were visible all over his body which was covered in blood. However, the bear's body wasn't the only thing covered in blood as the peacefully sleeping man also had blood on his body.

Both of the man's hands were covered in blood that still looked mostly fresh. The blood had started to darken in color but it still wasn't completely dry for some reason.

Moreover there was blood on the lips of the man as well as if he had tasted some delicacy which was covered in blood and he couldn't use his hands to eat it.

Artemis slept peacefully but it didn't last long as his eyelids flickered. He started walking up, soon opening his eyes which fell on the clouds that were gracing the sky.

"Argh, this headache..."

He rubbed his forehead which had started aching a bit and sat up, confused. He didn't remember where he was as there seemed to be a fog surrounding his memories.

Roarrr~

As he was trying to figure out where he was, he heard a powerful roar. He straight looked to the sky where the roar came from.

Within a few seconds, he noticed a massive creature fly past him through the sky. The massive creature had Giant body, a thick tail and a long head. His claws were so sharp that they could even slice metals. There were two wings on the red creature's back.

Each of the wing flaps created a massive gust of winds that even made Artemis's figure become unstable. He had to hold his ground to make sure he didn't fly away.

It only lasted for a second as the red creature disappeared from his view.

"What... was that thing?" Artemis frowned. It was the first time he had seen a creature like that which looked frighteningly strong. Just the sheer size of the creature alone was enough for him to destroy mountains!

He rubbed his eyes. "Just what is happening with us? We are still dreaming?"

He pinched his cheeks. Feeling the pain, he shook his head. "This isn't a dream. Hallucination? Mirage? This place is really getting confusing. Where are we?"

His attention was soon attracted by something else. He looked down, feeling the gentle winds brush against his chest. He had a strange feeling as if he wasn't wearing anything. His notion turned out to be true as well.

He could see that he was completely naked. But what attracted his attention the most was the blood in his hands.

"Blood?"

He couldn't understand why his hands were covered in blood. Whose blood was it? Had he just murdered someone? Why was he in this strange forest without any clothes, covered in dirt? Many questions floated in his head. The question about that strange creature was drowned in other questions.

"What is happening here?" With a frown, he stood up. His memories were still behind that veil, evading his recalling efforts.

Just as he wondered whose blood it was, a terrifying pain engulfed his head, making him feel like his head was going to blow up.

"Urgh!" A pained grunt escaped his lips. He tightly grabbed his head, before falling to the ground.

He could feel some memories appearing in his head, belonging to last night but they were accompanied by this incredible headache which made him scream in agony.

The veil which was surrounding his memories slowly went away, letting him access his memories. The memories brought forth extreme pain with them, but Artemis didn't scream. He simply kept holding his head tightly, waiting for the pain to go away.

Fortunately, the pain didn't last too long and soon disappeared like a fleeting dream.

Artemis remained on the ground, breathing heavily. After a long time, he slowly removed his hand from his head. There was a grave disappointment on his face as he remembered everything. He also remembered what had happened to him.

"We can't believe it. So that wasn't a lie? We really turned into a pathetic wolf? And this blood? Is it that human's blood that was chasing us?"

Within his memories, he remembered what had happened after he turned. That also helped him guess the origin of the blood. He couldn't help but wonder if this was the blood of the cop since he couldn't remember anything from the moment the cop shot at him.

"This seems to be the side effects of our first Transformation. It's said that werewolves struggle to recall their memories after their first Transformation. This seems to be something similar to that."

Sigh~

He wanted this whole thing to be a bad dream, but it wasn't. Moreover it was confirmed that he was stuck inside a Werewolf's body who just went through his first Transformation.

It was no less than a nightmare for a Noble Vampire like him. He was the definition of dignity and manners and now he was stuck in the body of a wild beast? This was worse for him than being stuck in the body of an ordinary human.

"We can't give up. We need to get to our Palace so we can find a cure for it! We need to know why this is happening and who is behind this! We need our real body back! And that strange creature... Something big is happening in our world. We need to find the truth!"
