Chapter 69: Potential

Bellas and Lee were talking softly with one another as Luc and I came down the stairs, and we immediately slowed our steps. It wasn't like either of us to try and sneak, but we both shared in a desire to catch some of their conversation.

"Somehow, it doesn't surprise me to learn Evan was a snake for Adam. Kid never sat right with me." Bellas revealed, and I could almost hear the frown on his face. "Ain't nothing he did, but it was just something about him. He seemed to have a way of making people like him that I didn't trust."

"Obviously it wasn't that good." Lee joked and the fallen scoffed.

"Hey, I don't hire on newbies and I don't assign partners." Bellas spat, and I could hear him shifting on the couch. "But I could see there was something not right about Evan, and that he was using power he didn't deserve to have."
