Chapter 6: A rose for the beauty
[Go to the company cafeteria, eat lunch there.] Li Jie rolled his eyes and walked to the cafeteria where he saw other people from the same department. Long Zongying waved at him while others seemed to be keeping a little distance from him.
"Senior Long, let me help you bring that tray over." Li Jie knew he had to yield in this situation if he didn't want to be outcasted by everyone in his department. Long Zongying smiled at him with a shy expression but refused. She offered him a seat beside her.
"And don't call me senior Long just call me sister ying."
"Sure, sister ying." Li Jie was swift in accepting her proposal. Soon Long Zongying started telling him how much he looked like her favourite actress ex-movie queen Jian Tang. Li Jie smiled and accepted the compliment. He really underestimated his mothers popularity.
At the same time he understood why Li Feng wanted to introduce him as secretary Tang's nephew. To show him how people would treat him if he took the back door. But if he was introduced as Ceo's son he would never be treated coldly for using the backdoor. But now look at these people. Li Jie laughed at his situation.
In the afternoon he was assigned some small work from Long Zongying who was shocked at seeing his speed and accuracy.
"Don't overwork yourself. You are actually doing quite good." Long Zongying smiled passing him coffee, she finally understood why secretary Tang opened the back door for his nephew this openly.
"No, I am not overworking myself. Sister ying, you can also give me anything else you need help with." Li Jie smiled at Long Zongying as she understood what he meant. Her gamble was right, this nephew of secretary Tang could really be her opportunity to rise up in ranks.

"Why are you grinning at? Did you make a deal of millions of dollars today?" It was Li Feng's voice who observed his fool of a son walking as slow as a snail.
"No." Li Jie answered him in one word and hopped on.
"Oh, right! I was the one who made million dollar deals." Li Feng spoke arrogantly since he didn't see Li Jie in the office once. Secretary Tang clearly informed him of Li Jie being in the care of Qin Zian, the secretary of some project director but he only saw Qin Zian working alone. Li Feng turned to his son who he assumed was skipping work. "And where were you the whole day?"
Secretary Tang saw the heated atmosphere and jumped in it in the fear that the young master would show his temper. The struggle to keep his job was real. "Young master Li, the Ceo is just worried about you since it was your first day as an intern."
"Oh! Is this how it is uncle Tang?" Contrary to his expectations Li Jie didn't mind the mockery of Li Feng. Since they were rivals, yes Li Jie saw Li Feng as a rival from start but he was too weak to fight back. "I was in the secretary department the whole day, working alongside my sister ying. Since senior Qin Zian disappeared suddenly."
Li Feng listened to his son not minding what explanation he was giving at all. "Oh, so now the company employees are starting to disappear out of thin air. Next thing you will tell me there is more than one universe and you have superpowers."
Li Jie froze at Li Feng mentioning more than one world and having superpowers. He never had superpowers but he had fought with people in his previous universe with people who have superpowers.
On the other hand, secretary Tang was in trance. He clearly appointed Qin Zian to take care of an intern but not only did he not follow his command he ever left the intern without any direction. Even fast food joints these days treated their newbies better. And Qin Zian was working in Li cooperation. Secretary Tang always thought if Qin Zian had potential but it looked like he didn't listen to his command at all. Secretary Tang made a note of Qin Zian in his mind. Someother time he was going to return this favour.
Li Jie, who didn't know he just planted a trap for his senior, sat in the backseat grinning. He planned on telling his mother everything about his day. Though yesterday's coming out matter was nothing to the past him but for the current self it was a big deal. He felt he could trust his mother and tell her everything. But at the same time it was the truth he wasn't her son. He stole some else's place. Li Jie shook his head. 'No the mission the system asked him about was the payment for this life.'

Li Jie ran inside the manor as soon as the car stopped. In his one hand was Jian Tang's favourite pastry while the other carried a single blue rose.
"How was your day?"
"It was great, mother. Everyone in the office is nice, you get to learn a lot. Better than me reading books everyday. And I also bought your favourite pastry." Li Jie showed her the pastry in his hand and the next moment bowed in front of her presenting her the flower. "And a rose for the beautiful lady."
Jian Tang laughed, she didn't believe Li Jie's first day in the office was good. She knew her husband too well to believe that. But she liked the fact Li Jie lied to her about it, if he wanted to succeed he needed to face some challenges. And if the pressure on him got too heavy he was going to be there for him. "Thank you, this gentleman." Jian Tang took the flower and pastry from his gand and gave it to Ryan to keep safe. As both the mother and son were having their loving moment. When the forgotten Li Feng walked in.
