Chapter 33: Chapter 33: The Half-Blood Prince

Professor Snape's office was also in the basement, not far from the Potions classroom.

The office was slightly dark and countless glass specimen jars were lined up on shelves against the wall. There was also a small door on the left side, which was closed.

Arthur guessed that it was where Professor Snape kept some of his special materials.

In the center of the room, there was an experimental table with different ingredients on it. When Arthur glanced at the ingredients, he recognized the ingredients for the Memory Potion.

It was a potion used to recall memories deeply buried in one's mind.

If you forgot something, drinking a bottle of it would guarantee that you could recall every single detail clearly.

This is definitely something that reincarnated or transmigrated person dreams of.

This type of potion is highly valued in the magical world, and even seventh-year students may not be able to touch it.

Many wizards love this stuff, combining the Intelligence Potion with Veritaserum. It can make people reveal secrets, including those awkward ones like wetting the bed when they were young.

However, Arthur didn't care much about this. Maybe Professor Snape hadn't had time to clean it up yet.

What he was more concerned about was why the old bat had called him over.

Professor Snape put the remaining materials from the class into a large box and then looked at Arthur.

"Mr. Gaunt, what are you waiting for? Use the ingredients on the table to brew me a Memory Potion. I don't have a lot of stock for some of the ingredients, so you only have one chance."

Professor Snape's voice was still so cold and emotionless.

Arthur was stunned. 'What did he mean? Was the old bat looking for child labor? Wasn't he afraid that I might make a mistake and waste the ingredients?'

Some of the ingredients for the Memory potion were extremely expensive like the feather of a Jobberknoll, which cost 20 Galleons each. There were also other ingredients, and all of them added up to a cost of 94 Galleons.

"Professor, aren't you afraid I'll mess up the potion?" Arthur tried to reason with Professor Snape.

Alas, Professor Snape did not accept this reason.

"If you mess up, give me 10 bottles of Pepperup Potion as compensation."

"Damn!" Arthur cursed silently. Pepperup Potion was sold for 15 galleons a bottle in the market, and the raw materials were not expensive, purely skillful labor.

Arthur knew he couldn't resist anymore and could only walk up to the experimental table and start making the potion.

He crushed what needed to be crushed and chopped what needed to be chopped. Arthur's hands were as steady as a rock, with each ingredients being handled to perfection.

Then, in order, he mixed and stirred a part of the materials, added them to the cauldron, and began brewing. He then used magic to stir it properly, constantly testing the critical point, and then adding the next part of the material.

Just like that, three hours passed in the blink of an eye.

...

Severus Snape's face remained cold, but his heart was racing. 'How did this kid become so skilled again?'

Dumbledore had asked Professor Snape to go easy on Arthur today, though he always gave him extra work during class anyway.

He respected Arthur's talent in potion-making, so he would always increase the difficulty to see how far Arthur could go.

He didn't expect Arthur to grow so fast. Now he could even brew the Memory Potion, which wasn't taught until after graduation.

Professor Snape had intended to give Arthur a bit of a hard time and put him in his place, but instead, he had been proven wrong.

Now Professor Snape was worried. If Arthur could brew a Memory Potion, what else could he possibly teach him in potion-making? Would he have to bring out his secret recipes?

After a while, Arthur was sweating a lot. He carefully poured the golden liquid he had brewed into a bottle and looked at Professor Snape excitedly.

Professor Snape walked over to the workbench and picked up the bottle containing the potion. He examined it carefully and noted that the color was golden with a hint of red, showing that it was a good potion of its level.

"If you add more eel eyes and stir it counterclockwise three times before adding the Stewed Mandrake, the potion will increase by one level."

"But "Advanced Potion-Making" says that adding it directly will make the ingredients fuse faster."

Arthur subconsciously refuted Professor Snape, but as soon as he finished speaking, he realized he was in trouble.

"Sneaking into the Forbidden Section of the library, Ravenclaw loses two points. Don't let me catch you sneaking into the Forbidden Section again, or I'll take 50 points."

Professor Snape's voice had a slightly hostile tone to it.

Arthur knew it was just as he suspected.

The book was a banned book in the Forbidden Section. If he didn't mention the name, he could still pretend that he got the recipe from somewhere else.

But mentioning the name was basically accepting the bait.

Professor Snape saw that Arthur lowered his head and didn't speak, and his mood became even more satisfied, with a hint of warmth in his words.

"That book was published before I went to school. It's outdated now. As a wizard, you should have a spirit of continuous exploration. Don't believe everything in books."

"Remember, even books in the Forbidden Section were written by wizards."

After listening to Professor Snape's words, Arthur tried to maintain a calm expression, but he actually agreed with Professor Snape's words in his heart.

Although Arthur was very talented, his research on potions was still limited to following textbooks. In difference, Professor Snape had long ago found his own path and reached a state of not blindly following books.

As Arthur was lost in thought, Professor Snape walked over to the side door, opened it and placed a vial of Memory Potion into a small compartment inside.

After thinking for a moment, he walked back to his desk and grabbed a book from a drawer, handing it to Arthur. Arthur snapped out of his thoughts and took the notebook. Although it looked a bit old, it was well-maintained.

When opening it and flipping through the pages, Arthur realized it was the Half-Blood Prince's notebook, which Harry had used to learn many potions and spells.

Harry also began to distance himself from wizards since then.

Arthur looked through it as if he didn't know what it was and asked. "The Half-Blood Prince's book? Professor, whose book is this? How arrogant, calling yourself a prince?"

When hearing this, Professor Snape's face darkened.

He roared, "Get out of my office, Mr. Gaunt!"

Arthur secretly smiled, knowing that his vengeance was successful. He didn't continue to push his luck and decided to leave.

However, just as he opened the door and was about to walk out, he heard Professor Snape's words in his ear.
