Chapter 29: Saved by her

"Krish, should we get this one or this one. A couple rings are the best. I wish we could buy engagement rings too. But no worries, we can buy this today and later that one too." Sia excitedly said.

Looking around for more exciting stuff, she didn't wait for his reply and moved forward.

Neither did Krish pay any attention to Sia. His attention was more on his phone work. For him, the only reason he came here was to slide his card. Rest doesn't matter.

Hearing those useless questions he felt little loss for himself. But knowing that all women like shopping or spending money he ignored that factor too.

After an hour Sia was still excited and wanted to shop more. However, Krish's patience has reached his level. Rubbing his brows with irritation he said.

"This is my card. Take it and shop for whatever you want. I'll have to take a call and it might take some time. Once you are done, call me."

"Where are you going? You promised that you would spend your day with me today." Sia hurriedly spoke and held Krish's arm with a worrisome look.

Right away removing her hand from his arm, Krish replied. "I never promised. Moreover you might have forgotten that someone close to you just disappeared, but I can't ignore that part. We have to attend his funeral too."

Sia felt embarrassed hearing such a reply. She realised how insensitive she must have sounded when she forgot such close relative death for her. She didn't regret her words, but felt mad that she said it in front of Krish.

Smiling awkwardly, she said. "I didn't forget that Krish. It's just we aren't attending it today anyway. And dad already arranged everything. Later he informed me that we don't need to have much to do because it's already late."

"Still we have some duty and responsibility to follow." Saying that he passed his limited expenditure card before going out of the showroom.

"But Krish-"

"Yes, bring my car to the entrance. I am coming out." Krish said on the phone.

Yes, he planned to leave Sia behind. For him, he wasn't being rude to her. It's a given fact that no man would like to follow a girl from shop to shop.

Sia was being unreasonable for asking him out and then shop for herself the whole day.

It wasn't just irritating but time-wasting too. As he had already wasted lots of his time, he didn't want to do more.

And that's why he decided to leave her behind with a card and car. Once she calls him to go back, he would just send the car to pick her up.

....

It was a busy day in the mall. Many people came, as it was a weekend. The crowd wasn't small either.

Making his time worth it, Krish wanted to check files on his phone, but unfortunately he bumped his shoulder to too many people and got annoyed too as he wasn't able to use his phone peacefully.

When he took the escalator to go down, with peace in mind he didn't notice but his shoelace got stuck in the escalator. He was busy with his work. His attention was neither forward nor backward, only on his phone.

Once he got down and was about to exit only then he realised something tugged to his right foot. When he looked down he saw his shoelace stuck to an escalator rail.

His eyes squinted. He instantly tried to pull it out but the more he tried to pull it, the tighter it got. His shoes got tighter and tighter. His attempt has no avail. He got anxious instantly.

As it was just a shoelace, things might not get serious so soon. But, the crowd on his back can make things worse for him immediately.

He hastened his moves to get himself out but the space he got between the front people and himself was too small.

When he tried again he tripped over and fell on his knees. Hurriedly turning back to get the lace out he saw the never ending waves of people coming on him.

"Excu- Shit. Wait! Hello!"

He moved sideways to protect him but no matter what, more people crashed to him, tumbling over him. Few people stepped on his fingers. Whereas other few one mercilessly walked over him. Their knees bumped his side shoulder and head but no one cared.

His eyes widened when he saw one person crashing into another because of him.

The other person was coming down while carrying a coffee with a zarf around it, which shows that it's a hot coffee. That person was about to fall on him directly.

Krish got nowhere to run. He closed his eyes in horror. This was the first time in his life that he was experiencing such brutal force against him. He never thought he would stand on the suffering side too. The first thing he hid was his bare face.

"...."

He waited and waited but the pain he expected didn't come. Instead he felt like that the crowd around him suddenly got quiet and lenient to him.

No pain, no tumbling. As if everything stopped with magic.

And the next second he knew, he finally felt the hot coffee on his hand but that was also only a few drops. He didn't want to open his eyes until he heard someone...

"You good?" A sweet but plain voice heard by his side.

Krish instantly opened his eyes and looked up in bewilderment. But to his surprise all he could see was someone's stomach. Before he could get away, the girl herself got away from him and stood up in front of him like a pillar.

Krish was a little stupefied. He looked around and noticed that the girl who just asked how well doing had stopped the escalator by pressing the button.

Moreover she covered him from the crowd with her body so that the bumps would come to her not to him.
