Chapter 14: 14 - Challenge of Firey Riae & RUN!
Michael moved over to get a closer look at their new companion, crouching down he looked at the Skeleton Wolf from all angles while his eyes were full of stars.
"Hey, how strong is this little guy?" Michael asked as he looked up at Victor with a face full of expectation.
"It's not that bad, It won't have the ability to fight a human at the same level but it should be fine against most monsters." Victor replied while giving Michael a weird look.
"Now back off I want to test something before we start moving." Victor said as he moved some distance from the Skeleton Wolf.
"Yep" Michael nodded and followed leaving the Skeleton Wolf.
"Ok, Now Sit." Victor ordered the Skeleton Wolf but it didn't respond or move.
"Come here."
"Roll over." And nothing happened causing Victor to stop and think for a few seconds about this while Michael stood to the side confused.
"Can't you control it? I've heard of summons being to powerful for the summoner and getting out of control or summons rebelling but this..." Pointing to the Wolf made of bones Michael continued.
"It's too weak and stupid to rebel." Michael explained.
"Yes it is.. but I was testing it's intelligence not my ability to control it." Victor replied with why the Skeleton Wolf didn't follow his orders.
"It seems that they only have instincts and don't even have the intelligence of a simple animal. So in the future they will require fine control outside of combat but hopefully this will improve when there's more of them." Victor spoke as he started to arrange the team.
Four Skeletons in the front with the Skeleton Wolf, two Skeletons on each side and the rest are at the back covering them from behind.
"Ok so we don't know what is in this challenge or what we will have to do but I bet it has something to do with that large mountain in the distance." Victor spoke as they moved forward while paying attention to their surroundings.
However they didn't move forward for long before the earth began to shake as a massive earthquake overtook the land.
Cracks started to appear all over the ground before growing into fissures as the ground shook.
All of the normal Skeletons fell apart because of the larger amount of vibrations, Victor and Michael weren't able to stand up right either with the Skeleton Wolf being mostly fine as it had four supports instead of two.
"What the hell!" Michael yelled as he tried to find a stable stance so as not to fall over.
Victor nearly fell over as he did his best to catch himself and stand up with the help of His Skeleton Wolf being his support.
However right before he could sigh in relief the ground under his right foot gave way into a underground fissure.
"Oh Sh*t!" Victor spoke as he tried to find something to grab as he ordered his Skeleton Wolf to bit and grab his sleeve.
However that only caused the Wolf to be pulled with him as move ground gave way from his weight.
"I got you!" Michael screamed as he grabbed Victor's other arm and began to pull him up.
Looking down into the ever growing fissure Victor saw an even more terrifying sight as Lava began to rise slowly at the bottom.
Michael pulled Victor up alongside the Skeleton Wolf as the Earthquake stopped.
"What the hell!" Michael yelled as he looked down into the large fissure in front of them.
"That was too close!" Victor laid on his backpack as he covered his eyes with his arm as cold sweat ran down his face, he could fell that his entire back was covered in sweat at the close call.
Opening his eyes Victor eye's slightly widened as he shot up to his feet and grabbed Michael arm pulling him to his feet, as all but the Skeleton Wolf was unsummoned.
"W-what?" Michael asked as he followed Victor who had started to run towards the mountain in front of them.
"Freaking run! We don't have time! I now know why it's called Firey Riae!" Victor yelled as he followed his Skeleton Wolf, running as fast as possible.
"Then why are we running?" Michael asked as he easily caught up to Victor.
"Look behind us and RUN!" Victor answered as he continued to run forward.
"Huh? Why are we running..... from." Michael looked behind him before running forward even quicker as he easily overtook Victor and the Skeleton Wolf.
"YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME IT WAS A FREAKING VOLCANO ERUPTING!" Michael Yelled with clear fear on his face.
Far behind them in the distance was a super large volcano that was starting to erupt with ash and burning hot dust coming out of the top as Lava began to pour out.
That wasn't the only thing that was worrying to them both as Lava started to rise from the fissures and cracks.
So their only hope of survival was to climb the mountain in front of them so as to not be burn to death from the lava.
"If my observations are correct then lava will continue to rise up from the ground and the only way for us to survive is to climb that mountain!" Victor yelled at Michael who was gaining ground from him.
Gritting his teeth Victor came to the obvious conclusion that he was just too slow, so he grit his teeth as his backpack disappeared into thin air as his speed increased.
Michael slowed down to allow Victor to catch up to him.
"Hey I thought you said that we weren't going to use.." Michael was cut off by Victor before he could finish.
"Yeah I know what I said but that was before I had to run for my goddamn life!" Victor yelled as he jumped over holes and rocks in his way.
The ground began to shake once more as the Volcano began to fully erupt with balls made of rock and fire beginning to rain from the sky.
A super large cloud of Ash, rock and flames started to be released into the air and a long the ground.
They both grit their teeth and pushed themselves to not fall over.
Leaning on eachother to not fall over they continued to move forward making it to the base of the mountain.
From the bottom they could see other people climbing or running up the mountain trying to find a safe place to survive the coming death.
Climbing up the small ledge with difficulty, because of the shaking, them pushed themselves in order to climb up the mountain, Michael and Victor used the Skeleton Wolf as a push up to jump up.
Resummoning the Skeleton Wolf they both run and climbed over rocks to get higher as they used the normal Skeletons to stabilize themselves.
Their strategy of using Skeletons and the Skeleton Wolf as stepping stones to climb proved to be highly affective as they started to catch up with to the other groups ahead of them.
It got to the point of other teams and groups noticing them and their quick climbing method of using Skeletons to create laders or step ups.
Not having to worry about the Skeletons life's Victor and Michael quickly advance up the mountain.
Seeing some teams getting stuck or falling behind Victor sent some Skeletons to help them as more people joined the duos group.
It wasn't long before they made it a one of the many caves at the top but unfortunately for them also all of the caves were already full.
So they had to climb further up to find a cave.
"Over Here!" One of the people Victor helped yelled over to them as they quickly entered the cave.
Looking back over to the Volcano, Victor saw that the giant cloud of death was quickly approaching.
Knowing they wouldn't be able to survive this Victor ordered all of his Skeletons to run forwards and blocked the small entry with their bodies effectively sealing the entrance before running further in.
The ground of about 20 people pushed further into the cave to hopefully survive the coming disaster.
Outside they all could hear the approaching Ash as the temperature in the cave quickly increased as they braced themselves for the impact.
"BBBOOOOOOMMMM!!!" The mountain slightly shook as dust and pebbles fell from the ceiling.
