{Garden of Eden}

[Adam POV]

Well, this is going well. Here I am, awkwardly standing in front of this girl, who was staring at me like I just called myself God. Which is very fair to her, someone who was the progenitor of your species would be like a god and claiming to be that person would look pretty sketchy in, pretty much, any situation. It's not possible to make it sound not sketchy, like a dark alley at 12am with empty syringes on the floor.

"Adam~, who are you talking to?" Whilst I was thinking of how to sort this situation, Eve came out of the woods and seeing someone new, wanted to know who she was. As people don't tend to just appear, Eve was suspicious of how this woman got here. Which is perfectly reasonable, as this has never happened in the entirety of our time in the Garden of Eden, and we've been here for a long time.

"No clue. I was just about to ask for her name. So miss, what's your name?" Hearing this the woman turns to look at us, seemingly contemplating her options until she releases she has no choice but to trust us.

"My name is Agnes. Where am I?" Well, at least I know her name now. Anyway, considering that she managed to get onto the island, that means she must be a good person, as she most certainly wasn't a god. Gods have an aura to them that tells you that they're a god, and Agnes most certainly didn't have that.

"Well Agnes, you are currently in the Garden of Eden. A paradise composed of all of Earth's animals and where everyone lives in tune with the nature around them. Working together in a symbiotic relationship." To say Agnes didn't believe me would be generous, as from the face she was making, it was pretty obvious that she thought that such a place was impossible.

Being the upstanding person I was, I walked up to Agnes and helped her up out of the sand, as throughout this entire conversation, she just kinda sat in it and didn't get up for some reason. And once she was up, I offered to guide her to our home as she was kinda stuck here at the minute, to which she reluctantly agreed.

And throughout the entire walk, I answered any questions she may have had about the island, like why it was called a garden when it was a little bigger than a normal garden (sarcasm), and to say she was taken aback by how beautiful the place was would be an understatement and when we got to our home she was shell-shocked as she had never seen anything like our home, with how advanced it was and how well it was woven into the nature around us. (if you have any pics you want to use be my guess as I want to leave this up to interpretation)

After just standing there for a bit, Agnes finally came out of her stupor and started to bombard me with questions about the house and what sorcery I used to make such a thing. It was quite funny really, to be honest, watching her freak about something that I know in the very far future will be pretty normal.

After satisfying her curiosity I showed her a spare room that she could use, it was built in case something like this ever happened as we knew it would happen at some point, so it's better to be ready before you need it and don't have it.

And after she was settled into her room, after many minutes of inspecting everything and fawning over the comfort of the bed, we showed her how to use the appliances in the house, like the coffee machine, sink, oven and so much more. We eventually introduced her to Cain and Abel, and the way she looked at Cain when she saw him told me that I may have grandkids if I'm lucky.

After that, which lasted a few minutes, Abel left stating that he had research to get back to. You know I worry about him sometimes, as all he does is research and I fear that he won't find a lover that shares his love for science before he dies as humanity is a long way from discovering science.

Anyway back to Agnes, she chatted with Cain for a bit and Cain seemed to enjoy being able to talk to someone else after all this, which is fair as although we love talking with each other and hanging out every now and again as a family, it can get a bit old only talking to the same people for over 400 years. So I don't blame him for wanting to talk with her some more when she decided to go to bed, as she had her whole worldview shattered in the span of 1-2 hours, but he held himself back and wished her a pleasant night's sleep. It was very cute watching them interact.

"What she would do with her? We could send her away if we wanted to, or we could offer her a space on the island. What do you want to do Adam?" When I heard Eve's question, I had to take a few minutes to think of my response. Although we could make her something like a boat to help her off the island, I don't think that would be the best idea as if she spread the word of a paradise out in the ocean that housed god-like people and things they hadn't even dreamt of having, people would search out Eden in the pursuit of greed and that would just lead to a lot of unnecessary death as they wouldn't be able to get on the island due to not being good-natured.

After contemplating all my options, I thought it best to let things play out on their own. As from the way Agnes was reacting to the island and her pretty obvious affection towards Cain, that if given enough time could become something greater, it wasn't likely she would want to leave and all I had to do was sit back and let everything develop.

Even if she did decide to leave, all it would do would push people to search the seas, leading them to discover more places and advance quicker than they originally would have. So if she decided to leave it wouldn't be too big of a deal, as they wouldn't be able to find Eden anyway if they weren't good people.

Relaying my thoughts to Eve, she seemed to agree with my conclusion, although she didn't like that people would needlessly die in search of Eden. To which I reminded her that sadly innovation usually requires sacrifices and that they that the people who would die in search of Eden would either, pave the way for the future by leading the charge into the innovation of oceanic travel, find their way to the island in search of a better home and safety or die due to their insatiable greed.

This helped her deal with the guilt their deaths may cause, and after talking for a bit longer we retired to our room and had a peaceful sleep in each other's grasp. Which was very nice and cosy.

The next day, we all had breakfast and then went to do our own things, Abel researching, Eve gardening, me lazing around with the animals and Cain either mining to help Abel or doing some carpentry with the wood he got from chopping down some trees. Agnes choose to follow Cain as she was interested in carpentry, and Cain guided her in the basics, and by the end of the day she had made a decent wooden statue, that could most certainly be improved but for her first time it was most certainly.

As the days went on, Agnes would accompany Cain and learn carpentry from him after breakfast, then have dinner with him and later return with Cain for tea then go to bed. As these days turned to weeks, then those weeks to months.

Agnes had finally integrated with our life and her relationship with Cain had progressed, they were best friends that both obviously liked each other but both were too scared to bring it up. I had even created perfect situations for them to speak their emotions but each time they would find a way to change the conservation in such a natural way even I wouldn't notice until after the conversation.

It got to the point where I just gave up and let them stew in their fear of letting the other one find they liked them. It was vastly amusing to watch them squirm when the topic was brought up.

Anyway, Agnes had improved in carpentry and was even better than Cain now, it seemed she had a natural talent for it. Now most of the wooden ornaments were being made by her, as even though Cain could make them quicker, Agnes' work was more detailed and more creative with what she designed as well, leading to some pretty cool sculptures.

But enough about Agnes and Cain, right now I was with Abel, discussing all the ways to advance the technology we had, and one of his ideas was very familiar to me. One of Abel's new clean energy sources he was working on was basically just an arc reactor, and the crazy part wasn't even his main idea for clean energy, which was making use of antimatter's reaction with normal matter in a controlled environment to make pretty much infinite energy.

I'm pretty sure that this idea would be near the top in efficiency, even by the universe's standards. Sometimes it's terrifying seeing how smart Abel was, but his plan would take him 500 years by his estimations, as he wants to fully explore the property of antimatter before even beginning to experiment with it due to how volatile of a substance it is, which I wholeheartedly agreed to as I don't want to wake up to half the island gone due to a tiny amount of antimatter getting loose.

With the matter of clean energy discussed, he started telling me about his plans for a craft suitable to help us travel and survive space, which we would probably barely use due to having all we need here, but it was still nice to have in case we ever needed anything like that, he plans to power it with the help of the antimatter reactor after its completion, and then after that make ships like it that would be used to mine any minerals in our solar systems via mining asteroids.

But that's all in the distant future. After discussing some more science with Abel, which I barely understood, I made my back home to be greeted by Eve waiting for me at the front door of the house, with her serious talk face on and staring me straight in the eyes. Wondering what she wanted to talk about, I made my way over to her and asked what was up.

"Adam, I'm pregnant" For a minute, her words just kinda rolled around in my head, not being fully processed, until after a minute of just dumbly staring at her the words registered in my brain.

I would like to say I'm surprised, but when I think about all the fun nights we've been having recently, it kinda makes sense. So I did the only thing a father would do I picked up my wife and cheered. After I had calmed down I got everyone together to have a celebration and to break the news to them, Abel already seemed to know, so he must have confirmed the pregnancy for Eve. To put a long story short the party had lots of drinking, with me and Cain getting drunk and starting to sing and dance on top of the table to the amusement of everyone else.

Many memories were made that night, and when I woke up the next morning I could barely remember any of the ones I made. Oh well, nothing I can do about it, but the one thing I do remember is Cain confessing to Agnes in his drunken state, drivin' by the confidence only getting drunk gives you and to no one's surprise she said yes. So they're dating now, oh I can't wait to see Cain's face, it's going to be priceless.

----------

Ye so know how I said there'd be 2 chapters, well I lied. I underestimated how soul-destroying college can be and writing this after that is like putting my brain through a little workout that he enjoys after already working out for 7 hours. It may be fun, but you are not going to be walking any time soon afterwards.

That's how my brain feels right now so the uploads will probably move to like 1 every other day as writing 2 thousand words every day after college is a pain like no other, so I'm saving myself the pain by no longer going for daily chapters.

Hope you can understand, because unless I get mega-motivated or reach an epiphany with my story the releases are going to stick to 1 every other day or more. As if I try and rush this stuff it just ends up sucking and no one wants to read a terrible story. So I'm taking my time to make sure the story is good, to the best of my ability that is, and not going for a speedrun for an aneurysm.

Oh and here's what Agnes looks like because I forgot to include that, you can imagine something different if you want, I just thought this looked good

And if you want to put your interpretations of Cain and Abel here that's fine too, 'cause I can't find any good pics for them.
