Chapter 2: Nightmare

Chapter 01, "Nightmare".

In the middle of the silent night, filled with cries and screams of pain, like a never-ending nightmare, the little girl witnessed the mental killing and sadism of others behind the great wall, she witnessed one after another of the cruelest tortures, not even daring to show herself. and hid in silence as if he had never existed.

The woman outside screamed in pain, as her stomach was violently kicked, another man grabbed her hair so hard that her toes couldn't touch the floor, he could lift her and throw her down easily even if it was a pregnant woman.

In a state of stomach pain, the woman was panting while clutching her skin, trying to feel the warmth of her baby who was still in her womb through her trembling fingers and wet with cold sweat.

The man looked like he was not satisfied with venting his anger, he actually kicked her hard like a wild beast, making the woman suffer more, and suffer more. Pain and sorrow welled up in her chest, until finally she couldn't take it anymore.

The little girl behind the wall was still hiding in the same fear, her tears couldn't stop flowing, her eyelashes were wet, so were her cheeks, she tried to hold back her sobs and covered her ears with all her might, pretending she didn't hear anything, but the screams of pain could still be heard by her, even her name was called in a terrible tone.

"MORRIN! HELP ME-!"

A pair of wet eyes opened quickly, still with reddened eyes, while forgetting the nightmare she tried to calm down, her breath hitched, her chest heaved up and down, cold sweat flooded almost all over her body. She looked at her reflection in the mirror, seeing her current state, how pitiful.

If it really was a nightmare, then that was good, she would just take it as an illusion and just ignore it, but reality said otherwise, she kept feeling guilty that bits and pieces of the memory came to her, like a nightmare haunting her.

The girl brushed her bangs drenched in sweat, exposing her entire forehead, she glared at the mirror, looked at herself coldly, then pondered for a few moments before a familiar voice came through the door, snapping her out of reality.

"Morrin, are you awake? I prepared breakfast for you, come out and eat."

Without any intention of answering, the 17 year old teenage girl stood up calmly and unhurriedly, without any curiosity as to why it was 'Lord' who prepared her breakfast and not the maid.

She cleaned herself first which was sticky with sweat. A few minutes later, she came out with only a towel covering her body, after drying everything, she changed into her school uniform, remaining cautious until she came out of her room, went downstairs to see if there was anything she could eat, she saw some meat sandwiches on the table.

At first she was going to leave after getting one, but someone just arrived with the homemade sauce he made to add to the sandwich.

Seeing that his daughter was already carrying her backpack, he hurriedly said. "Are you leaving already?"

"En. I'll be late, I'll eat this on the way." Morin said soberly.

She showed a piece of sandwich she was holding, trying to convince. In reality, she was just making excuses, she wanted to leave immediately.

"Ah ... then add a few more pieces, let me prepare the lunchbox-"

Before he could finish his sentence, Morrin quickly cut him off.

"No need, Father, this is enough."

She was calm and stable, which made her father, Aqious Cain, 44 years old man, helpless and finally gave up on deciding not to argue any further with her.

Morrin finally left with a sandwich in hand, after walking for a while down the long aisle, she stared at the cold meat sandwich, frozen by the cold morning air. She took a bite, chewed it slowly, her expression unchanged, then swallowed it.

She said indifferently. "Taste bad."

Actually the taste wasn't that bad, she was just spouting the words carelessly, the fact that the meat was tender and the few pieces of fresh vegetables were very appetizing, but she just found it bland. Then she saw a large dog tied with a strong leash to one of the city's lampposts, she approached it but kept her distance, in case the dog was aggressive.

The dog growled as he noticed a human presence as he sniffed the scent, becoming wary, looks like his eyesight isn't as good as it used to be, old dog -thought Morrin.

"Don't look at me like that. I'm here to feed you. You're hungry, right?" Morin smiled thinly.

He threw down the sandwich, landed near the furry animal, the dog stared at it for a few moments, then sniffed the bits of meat scattered on the ground, after hesitating for a few moments, he started eating it slowly. The smile lines on Morrin's face split, the smile very gentle, but the look in his eyes was serene and deep.

"Looks like I'll be coming here more often from now on."

She studied him for a while, noticing that there was a dried up scar around the neck which had been carelessly tied up, it seemed like he had been confined by this worn out rope for a long time, did the owner throw it away? Or this creature is too often given 'little lessons'.

"That looks painful."

She held out his hand, trying to feel the skin that had peeled off many times with the rotting outer flesh, but unfortunately the dog was a little fierce, he bit it so hard that fresh blood flowed through her long fingers.

At first she didn't expect this, she was slightly surprised, but then she smiled, it was a little ridiculous she thought, the beast injured her roughly, but its back and black pupils were trembling with fear.

Then somehow she laughed.

"How long have you been tied up like this?"

There weren't many people around here, at least not this early in the morning.

"Ten years?" Morrin continued, then paused.

In the last sentence, there was a furrow around her brow, it suddenly reminded her of an incident in the past. The moment where the nightmare came back, terrorizing her.

That person came, just in time for the new year, when her mother wasn't home, someone barged in when the door was unlocked. Her breath stopped for a few seconds, she couldn't think of anything at the moment, it felt like lightning from the sky had come to strike her.

She had foreseen this beforehand, thought about it over and over again, but the moment that person actually appeared before her, the defenses she had put up all along collapsed instantly.

She wanted so badly to say 'why did you come back now?' or 'fuck you, get lost'.

But she couldn't say it, her feeling of fear was bigger than anything right now, she was too scared.

Morrin tried to contact her mother, but in the end she just decided to send a short text message.

[Father is came home today.]

After sending it, she stared at her phone for a long time, making sure the person had read it. And sure enough, incoming call after that.

She picked up the phone.

Tut.

Call connected.

As she answered the phone, Morrin heard the other voice tremble slightly.

"What should I do?" Said the woman a little hoarse and shaking behind the phone.

Henrietta Deurodh, a woman who had always been tough and sturdy like a tree trunk, became weak and cowardly just after reading that message. At first, Morrin didn't know what to say at this point, but in the end she just gave a ridiculous answer.

"Just try talking to him." Morrin said, hesitating slightly.

"And get beaten again? I don't want to, Morrin."

Morrin. "...."

She knew this wouldn't work, her mother had a great fear of that person, but no bigger than the hatred that was ingrained in her heart, she would never want to go near that torture pit again.

And then, a hoarse voice rang out, the woman couldn't hold it in any longer, her iron armor had cracked again, taking all of her grief and trauma out to the only person who witnessed those ten years of tribulation with her. Because of that, she was able to survive in that hell hole, because someone listened to all her pain, and was willing to cry for her.

"I don't want to sink into that mud again." Henrietta's voice grew hoarse.

"I don't want to see him again, I'm done with him." She continued with an uncontrolled intonation.

"...." Morrin didn't say anything.

"Tell me, what should I do?" She was crying again.

Trying to think of an answer that might cheer him up, but all he could say was this.

"... I don't know."

"If you were in my position, then what would you do? Do you want to spend the rest of your life with that deranged psychopath?"

Morrin was silent for a moment before answering. "... No."

"So am I."

"...."

"...."

After that, Morrin didn't say anything else, neither did Henrietta, they were silent for a while, silence struck until Henrietta finally opened her mouth again. But this time, her voice sounded more stable but still a bit hoarse, she said very quietly.

"I also don't want you to see that for the rest of your life, I'm sorry, I want to take care of you both, without the presence of that man."

She was calm, Morrin had always been calm, but hearing those words, she couldn't help but the corners of her eyes started to redden.

She cried after hanging up the phone.
