Someone pounded on the front door, "Mary! Mary! I heard you screaming. Are you okay?".
Mary looked at the man in front of her. His eyes told her not to run but her legs were ready to take her anywhere. Before she could run, he got hold of her and lifted her on his shoulder.
"Help! Somebody help me", Mary screamed.
He snapped his fingers and she went mute. Mary screamed but there were no sounds.
"What's going on? I can't hear my voice? What is going on?", She panicked.
Still carrying her on his shoulder, the young man approached the door and opened it. There was an old couple.
"Oh", The old woman gasped.
"Who are you?", The old man beside her asked.
"Oh, I'm Heath, Mary's boyfriend", He smiled.
"Boyfriend?", The man asked. Looking at Heath from head to toe. Wait! Someone was on his shoulder, "Mary?".
"You know how Mary is", Heath chuckled and slapped her butt.
"Oh", The old woman was startled.
"Mary, are you okay?", The old man asked.
There was no answer from her.
"You don't expect anyone to answer with their butt facing the other person", The old man spoke dryly.
"Oops I forgot", Heath put Mary down.
Mary rushed to hug the old man, "Mr Gregor".
"Oh, Mary. We heard you scream and came as fast as we could", Mr Gregor pulled away from the embrace shortly.
"Oh, don't mind me. I was just kidding around. You know how I am", Mary smiled.
"You didn't tell me you finally got a new boyfriend", The old woman asks.
"I met him recently. I'll tell you folks all about him later", Mary smiled nervously, wishing that the couple could leave.
"Be careful, young man. I don't want anything to happen to our Mary", Mr Gregor said.
Heath smiled, "Noted".
Both of them watch the old couple return to their home not far from Mary's.
Shutting the door behind her, Mary bolted upstairs. Heath went after her. She shut the door of her room, "You're one crazy bastard, Heath. You're a lunatic, I get it , but why me of all the people on this damn planet. If you want money, i can't give it to you. I just sold the most expensive thing I own", Mary yelled.
Heath chuckled, "Unfortunately, darling, I'm not a bastard neither am I a lunatic. For your information, I'm not after your money. Its not like you're loaded or anything".
"What?", Mary slammed the door open.
Taking her wrist, he leads her downstairs.
"Let me go or I'll scream again. Try me and I'll alert the entire neighborhood", Mary chuckled, "The cops will come running any second".
"Do it", Heath said.
"What?", Mary was confused.
"Scream", He smiled.
"You think I'm not gonna do it? I'll scream at the top of my voice", Mary replied. This guy's nuts.
"I know you'll do it", Heath let go off her wrist and folded his hands over his chest.
Mary screamed at the top of her voice. Nothing happened. She was confused. What's going on?
Heath laughed, "Where are the cops?".
"You! What did you do?", Mary pointed her finger at him.
"Nothing", He shrugged nonchalantly.
Running to the window, Mary screamed. There were passerby's on the street but no one turned their attention to her. It was as though they didn't hear her at all. As though she was mute. She gasped. He had done it before. When he carried her over his shoulder, her screams were soundless. Was he an alien? A witch? because that would make sense, his beauty was out of this world.
"Mary Ortega, born 25th August 2001 to Mr and Mrs Edwin Ortega. You are to die 100 days from now and I'll stick around to prevent you from killing yourself before then", Heath smiled.
Mary felt her eyes widened. What was he saying?
Heath ran his hand through his hair and closed his eyes. When his eyes fluttered open again, they were pitch black, "My name is Heath but you can call me Death".
