Xiao Ye realized that he was lying on a wooden bed in a shabby hut. He looked around and saw a few pieces of furniture and some ragged clothes. He smelled smoke and dust in the air.
Xiao Ye tried to move his limbs, but he felt weak and sluggish. He couldn't remember what happened to this body, and all he remembered is that he pressed the reincarnate button.
He felt a surge of panic and confusion. He wanted to ask the system for answers, but he was interrupted by a sound.
He heard a knock on the door, followed by a cheerful voice.
"Brother Feng, are you awake? It's me, Little Lan. I brought you some porridge and medicine."
Xiao Ye frowned and tried to recall who Little Lan was. He didn't remember anyone with that name.
He decided to play along for now and see what he could learn. He cleared his throat and said weakly, "Come in."
The door opened and a young girl entered the hut. She had long black hair and bright eyes. She wore a simple white dress and carried a tray with a bowl of porridge and a bottle of medicine.
Little Lan lifted the cloth from the window and let some sunlight in. She said, "It's a beautiful day today. The sun is shining and the birds are singing."
She smiled warmly and walked towards Xiao Ye. She said, "Brother Feng, you've been asleep for a week. How do you feel?"
Xiao Ye's eyes scanned her. The girl was barely fifteen, with a delicate and lovely face that contrasted with her ragged clothes. Her smile revealed a set of pearly white teeth that sparkled in the dim light.
She was his sister in this world, but Xiao Ye felt nothing towards her.
He forced himself to act polite and said, "I'm fine Little Lan. Thank you for taking care for me."
Little Lan nodded and placed the tray on the table next to the bed. She said, "You're welcome, Brother Feng. You're my only family left after our parents died. I don't want to lose you too."
He asked, "Little Lan, where are we? What is this place?"
Little Lan looked surprised and said, "Brother Feng, don't you remember? We live in Qingfeng Village, in the Cloudy Peak Kingdom. We're farmers who grow rice and vegetables for a living."
Xiao Ye felt a trace of annoyance. He couldn't believe that he reincarnated into such a lowly person.
