Chapter 3: Atlanta is for the dead
Ianthe: I knock on the door of the house that used to be the Drakes after knocking I look back to dad to see him still coming to terms on if what he learned is true or not when I hear a woman voice ask "who is it"?
Ianthe: I say "it's me...Ianthe" as I look back at the door and hear them unbarricading the door.
Jenny: Upon opening the door, I immediately hugged Ianthe tightly as I say "I'm glad you're ok I got worried about you when we hadn't heard anything from you".
Is your dad ok? I asked as I move away.
Ianthe: Smiling I say "hey Jenny, I'm glad that you're safe as well and this is my dad as I look to my left."
Rick: Stepping forward I take my hat off as I greet them "hello my name is Rick Grimes it's my pleasure to meet you".
Morgan: It's nice to meet you as well I'm Morgan and this is my wife Jenny how about you and your daughter come in.
Ianthe: Smiling I walk past Jenny as dad is behind me as we enter the house while Morgan and his wife does the same.
After closing the door we baracade it again and we go to the living room as soon as I enter Duane hugs me.
Duane: Ianthe I'm glad your safe!
Ianthe: Smiling I hug Duane back, as I put my head on top of his as I say "didn't i tell you that I would come back ".
Duane: "You did but it was a long time since we heard anything from you or seen you I was scared you..."
Ianthe: Letting him go as I croach down to his level as he has his head lowered I look at him while I say "I'm sorry I worried you but we're together now and from now on we won't be separated again we are a family now.
Once we go and find my mom and my little brother with my uncle Shane we will find somewhere where we all can be safe."
Duane: Raising my head, to look at her I ask "can we really find somewhere safe, for us so that we won't have run anymore and we will be happy".
Ianthe: I nod, at him as I smile and pull him in for another hug when I feel a hand is placed on my shoulder.
Morgan: Giving an thank you smile, as I nod but you can see in my eyes that there is slight pessimistic in them.
(1 hour later)
Ianthe: Me,dad,Morgan, and Jenny are at the table after having dinner and having Duane go to bed for the night so he won't hear what we talk about to prepare for our trip to atlanta.
Morgan took out a map showing all of georgia and says "I figure it will take up to 2-3 hours for us to get to atlanta from here using the side streets and the back roads to get there being that we don't want to attract unwanted attention from anyone or the walkers to have the safest time traveling there " he said while looking over the map.
Rick: But wouldn't we want to, take the main roads leading in to the city because we could run in to a military patrol or an outpost being that we are going their to be taken to the refugee camp that they have made in atlanta so why not take I-90 which will take us directly to the city.
Morgan: We don't know what the highway looks likes if on the way we have to make detours due to cars being abandoned on the way we could end up in an bad situation.
Ianthe: Before the argument can become to heated I interject "before we leave to go to atlanta we will need to stock up on gas,food, water, weapons, clothes and ammunition before we leave".
So i subjest we go to the police station and get the weapons that are left behind and also siphon any gas from the car's that are there as well as take the radio's from there.
Because in truth we don't even know what to truly expect being that we have no sure way of even knowing that the military was truly even able to secure it.
Before it got too bad there so we should also check the outside of alanta to see if there are other people that made camp outside the city that we can group up with.
Looking at them, I see that their considering that it's possible that an scenario like that could be true when Jenny speaks up.
Jenny: Ianthe is right, we don't know what to expect it could be that the military has been able to get everything under control or the city could be over runned right? we need to be prepared for those possibilities.
Ianthe: Seeing them nod, in agreement we made the plan to go to the police station first to get the resources we need and then be on our way.
But we will stop just outside of the city, and break up into two groups and see if people have set up camp outside of atlanta if we don't run into any military patrols as we take the scenic route there.
Having our plan we pack our things, for the morning and go lay down to rest for our trip to atlanta tomorrow.
(8 hours later)
Ianthe: Waking up we eat breakfast, and get dressed to get ready to leave we walk to the door and I stop Duane and kneel so we can be at the same height.
"Duane once we leave this house listen to everything we say we should be ok on our way to the police station but I want you to make sure you stay close to your mom or me once we reach atlanta and listen to whatever me or you mom says."
Because once we're out in the open it will be dangerous every step we take will determine how we handle any situation ok?
Duane: Looking at mom then dad as I look at Ianthe and her dad I nod when I bring my attention back to her understanding that we will be facing dangerous situations outside.
Ianthe: Smiling as he nod, I say "it will be ok, we will protect you and once this is done we will have a place to rest before we move to an place where we can be safe."
Seeing him nod again I stand up an look at dad and Morgan giving a nod to them they unbarracaded the door.
