Chapter 2: New Beginning

Ding Dong.

"Oh, finally! The package is here!"

The girl scrambled over to the front door, unlocking it.

Suddenly, a shadow fell on top of her as the package came crashing down on her.

"Sh**!"

For a few seconds, she laid there on the hallway floor, feeling absolutely jumbled.

Slowly but surely, the girl pushed the box towards her right onto the floor.

"Why... Did they have to lean the package against the door?!"

She threw her hands in the air, and shot up to sit.

Seeing the package, all of her previous anger seemed to disappear.

"Hehe... A virtual reality body! And it's all mine!"

Now in her room, she'd already read the instruction manual on how to set it up.

The girl pulled on the stretchy material of the black suit she wore. It was—well, to say the least— kind of unusual.

Glowing blue lines ran through the suit. Also, there was an intricate mask the user needed to wear as well.

She picked it up, examining it.

"This is..."

Bringing the mask closer to her face, she was shocked to see that it was

"Kinda ugly."

The girl sighed for a moment before putting it on and saying, "Well, whatever!"

Suddenly, her whole vision was obstructed by a blue color.

There was a menu in front of her and well, since Live Line was already downloaded on the VRB, she pressed the "Games" category.

One of the "qualities" of Live Line its advertisement failed to mention was that it was the first VRB game ever created, and the company which created Live Line also made the VRB.

Reason why they didn't mention this was to conceal the general stigma surrounding virtual reality bodies that the technology was a pyramid scheme from unsuspecting or unknowing viewers. Afterall, should one take note that Live Line and the stigmatized VRBs were created by the same company, well, people would feel less inclined to play Live Line.

This girl was one of those unsuspecting viewers who rashly bought a VRB without researching into the creator of Live Line—let alone the dangerous aspects of the VRB.

Regardless, there it was: Live Line.

The game that might be able to alter her experience of life into something more bright and worthwhile.

She reached out and pressed "Play".

It was a new beginning.
