Chapter 2: DARK EERIE FIGURE II

Back up in the sky, the pursuit jet made a turn around, Doubling back down to Myles' location. It opened up a small section below it's wing sides to reveal a set gatling guns mounted perfectly parallel to each other on the streamlined wing of the craft.

Myles, with His parachute now open, Was only a couple of metres off the ground. The craft locked on to Myles and proceeded to firing several rounds down at him. With His suit being mostly metal plated and over all bullet proof, Myles managed to deflect some of the shots fired at him, suffering only the stinging pain of bullet collision on the dented parts of his armor.

The shots had caused his parachute to lose its integrity as it now had several bullet lacerations at the top. The speed of descent caused the material to give away, sending Myles and plummetting to the ground, crashing the remaining distance down in the lower parts of the mountain range near a river.

Just after touching down, Myles got up from the area he had fallen over and hastily ran for cover towards the edge of a precipice nearby. He tried yet again to reach out and contact HQ. "HQ do you copy??" He yelled over his comm as he caught his breath.

Before Myles could fully recover, He heard a whistling sound gaining on Him. It was the sound of a jet gaining closer and closer like a crescendo.

Just then, he realized that there was still someone on to Him. It was another missile inbound.

Quickly He ran, looking forward he noticed a waterfall up ahead. Without wasting a second, He picked up the pace and ran, heading towards the water fall as fast as He could. His abilities was a great advantage to him as he could run faster than regular humans.

Running with all his might, he tried to outrun the projectile aimed at him. Almost at the edge, just at the last moment, Myles took a mighty leap and almost immediately the missile hit the ground and releasing an explosion which quaked the mountain sides and sent rocks falling off the edge of the walls.

The shockwave blew Myles away over the waterfall, resulting in him violently impacting on the long boulders up ahead and then ricocheting off it's side falling over down into the river below.

Just as the quake was over and the rocks had settled, The craft took a turn round the mountain range and flew back down to the impact site slowly descending on the land near the river and then docking along a grassy clearing beside the river. The pilot's hatch open and a man in a black fitting overalls with kevlar paddings alighted.

He was equipped with a mini backpack like equipment mounted at his back connecting over his shoulders to his neck and under his arm to his chest region while wearing a dark segmented helmet which covered his face, In his hands, He held a gun which had an unusual structure and several unique attachments at the side and at the upper end.

Walking down over to the edge of the waterfall, The man took a long sighting of the area and then peered down at the landscape below, keenly searching for a sign of movement from the body of his victim.

Tapping the communicator on His ear with his forefinger, He whispered loudly turning his head over to the other side "It's done", and then proceeded to returning back to His carrier before taking off in the direction he came from.

Myles who had been knocked unconscious was now been carried downstream along with the fast current of the flowing water, He was approaching a large set rapids down the stream fast.

Slowly his eyes opened, He paused and lightly shook His head as a high pitch sound rang still in his ear. He scuffled lightly across the surface of the water to in a brief moment of realization. Suddenly! He realized he was being carried down stream by the turbulent current caused by the inclined river floor.

Looking around in a state of urgency, Myles searched for possible ways out as he was being accelerated like a pinball in a random motion down the water body uncontrollably. Within a graceful moment, He sighted a withering tree having branches sprouted in several directions and a large stem which had tilted overtime towards the river a little distance down the stream.

It was a risk, Attempting to zip to safety by a tree he wasn't sure could hold up. He would be risking the chance of being hit by the heavy uncut log of wood if it was unable to support his weight or alternatively missing the shot and being battered by the large rock in the rapids down below if he failed.

The options were however not enough, Myles had limited choices and thus proceeded to carry out the best plan he had.

Hopefully, just as he approached under the tree, He fired the grappler head and luckily it latched a tight grip onto one of the stronger branches a bit higher up the tree.

Immediately Myles activated the zipline retraction and was instantly pulled out of the water zipping toward the tree. Just before an imminent collision with the tree, He detached his zipline from the grappler head and fell down to the muddy ground close near the tree.

Now laying and facing the cloudy sky, He exhaled gently and then released a soft sigh of relief.

He proceeded to taking His helmet off slowly in a painstaking manner and then softly touched his head.

He had suffered concussive forces to the head and was now bleeding, He took his hand off his head and tried to take a short look at the image of blood on his dark leather gloves. His face was now partly covered with blood that dripped from a wound up the side of his head and a few skin cut wounds from his right chin and also at His left eye brow due to the impact collisions on His head.

"Stiles... Are you there...?" He asked as he dropped his hand down to the muddy ground. All that could be heard was a static crackling through the comms. His communicator seemed to have been damaged. He patiently waited for a reply, with his sight fixed upwards towards the sky. Slowly the image of the sky fade out, becoming more and more vague until He eventually passed out at the muddy shore he laid.

Myles had now been out for a couple of hours since the incident at the mountain range. Just as he lay still on the ground were he fell, He sensed some distortions in his surroundings.

"Myles..!"

"Myles... Wait up!"

A female voice cried out in the distance..

He tighten his eyelids against each other as he felt a dazzling sensation from an increment in the light coming from above.

Slowly he opened his eyes and his vision unblurred to reveal a bright blue sky. "Where am I?", Myles asked as he stood up from the ground, He was no longer with his mission gear and the wounds he had on his face were absent.

He was now in a red and black hooded sweat suit, An exact copy of the one he wore the day he got his powers.

"What is this place?" Myles wondered as he checked his clothing to see if any devices were attached to him.
