Chapter 4: Shameless Bunny.

" Oh~ What do we have here?"
Seeing as there wasn't any other supernatural ability in the power section of the system Adam pressed on the yes option. Immediately after, a screen showing a textual description of his new power appeared before him.
[Spatial Jump (SSS-Rank):]
[A mysterious space-type ability that allows the user to teleport anywhere the latter has been to before. It also allows for fast travel as far as the user can see. This ability is pseudo-passive, so no energy is required for its use nor is it possible to restrain it. To activate it, the user should give a mental command.]
"That's a bit... broken? Not like I'm complaining though."
Adam smiled from ear to ear just from thinking of this ability's usefulness. He also felt a bit of relief too since so far, he had no clue about how his system was supposed to work.
Given the name it had, Adam believed that the system would give him powers at random. But this power in specific did not seem to be related to the system.
'I never got a notification message; it's as if this power had always been with me, even before the system's arrival.'
For now, he would roll with this.
For his awakener ID, he needed a supernatural ability anyways, so this ability would come handful.
As the son of two heroes and the foster son of the leaders of one of the greatest Guilds in star city, it was an easy task to get a back door ID. So, he was planning to do just that until he got an ability from the system later on.
' This saves me the trouble of convincing pops. That would've been tough.'
Thinking back to Rumi's father, Adam couldn't help but smile warmly. The man was considered a monster in the eyes of the world. A deserving title given how crazily strong he is. But when it came to his children, he was a big softie.
He was never against Adam becoming a hunter, since the latter had never shown any interest in the job, but Adam was pretty sure that at the very least he wouldn't like the idea, especially since he was 'normal'.
" No point thinking about it now. I should get going, I need Rumi to help me out with this thing now."
He was planning to take Rumi out somewhere to kill some time and then get lunch at 12, something that is very usual for the duo. But now that he found out about this power, he would appreciate some help from an actual hunter.
Is not as if he was trying to show off his powers to Rumi or anything like that. It was all for the sake of learning and improving.
Anyways...
'Hehe~ I can't wait to see her face.'
Adam was not an awakener so she would surely be surprised. Not only her but his parents as well, who had already lost hope of him ever awakening.
Even if he never became a hunter, a supernatural ability would always be helpful. Most jobs preferred their candidate employees to be an awakener rather than not. In this society, the majority of people had powers, and although not all of them were fit for hunter jobs they could still be useful in other working fields, like medicine or engineering.
His foster parents always worried that Adam would be outcasted by others for being a normal human for this same reason.
Adam never cared though.
He was filthy rich. If no one wanted him in their company he would just make one of his own, as easy as that.
Back to his new power, there was a small problem.
"Now that I think about it, wouldn't it be better if I try the ability by myself? Rumi's powers are exactly like Mirko's from MHA, so I fail to see how she would be of any help. Same for Pops and Mom."
Who was he trying to fool? He just wanted to show off! Learning from Rumi was never his main priority.
" Alright, based on the description it sounds like a pretty straightforward ability, so let's give it a try."
Coming out of the car after he made up his mind, Adam took a deep breath and thought about his room. Then, he wished to appear in front of his giant TV, with his back facing his bed.
Without closing his eyes, Adam could see as space fluctuated and in less than a second, he was back in his room, in the exact position he had imagined in his mind.
"This is... unexpectedly easy."
Then, to further test his newfound power, Adam wished to teleport again, but this time instead of going somewhere he couldn't see, he opted to "blink" toward a random spot in his room that was a few steps away from him.
And so, he did.
" Damn, this thing is surprisingly easy to use, and I don't feel any dizziness or other side effects either."
As he came to this realization a mischievous smile creped out of him.
" Let's test it then~."
....
*Usagiyama's Residence. *
In a room where the pink color was ever-present, a young woman lay in bed as a towel tightly hugged her torso.
Her white bunny ears twitched cutely behind her equally wet white hair which spread unevenly across the bedsheet.
Her muscular thighs moved anxiously as she scrutinized her phone. Her face had a murderous frown, highlighting the already wild nature of her beauty. A big contrast in appearances considering how girly and colorful her room was.
"Why is this bastard not replying?!"
When she came back home yesterday from a "hunt", the girl had texted someone to chat for a bit. She had heard from a certain someone that this individual attended a party that same day. A party held by someone she was wary of.
VERY wary...
"I can't believe he went to that bitch's party! She can't be any more obvious about him, yet this fool doesn't get it! If only I didn't have to work at that time... Fucking gate monsters!!"
The bunny girl was very competitive in every aspect of life, especially when it came to fights. It has always been like this, and she never truly care about anything else. But lately, she can't help but feel conscious. After all, the guy she was in love with for more than a decade had not made a move on her even once. Even when they lived under the same roof for ten years.
So, knowing he went to her 'rival's house' to attend her party didn't sit well with the bunny girl. Especially when she knew how troublesome this rival was.
"D-does he like cute girls? No! He prefers tomboys, right? Those +18 magazines I found under his bed were full of tanned tomboy girls... Yosh! I still have a chance!"
Before she could get lost in her delusions any more than she already was, a notification sound from her phone which she was still holding, caught her attention.
Adam- "Hey, was asleep at that time. I'll pick you up in a few so get ready."
"Eh~? What's with that attitude, I'll have to teach him a lesson once he arrives."
Even though she said what she said a beautiful smile was displayed on her face after she read his text.
She hurriedly stood up and immediately started looking for something to put on.
Rumi never cared about dressing girly, not even when she was a kid. A characteristic she carried over to her adult life as well. And knowing a certain guy's preferences she didn't feel like she needed to either.
As she put some lingering on and started looking around for a black sports bra and leggings set, her bunny ears twitched slightly. She swiftly turned around out of instinct after catching the small abnormal sound and adopted a martial arts stance, ready to kick the ass of whoever broke into her room.
Before she could pounce on the intruder though, she froze in place after having a look at the latter.
"Adam?"
On her bed, Adam lay sideways as he comfortably rested his head on one of his hands. He looked too naturally settled for someone who appeared out of nowhere.
" Hey, Rumi~ Looking good as always."
His gaze fell on her body shamelessly, making her feel exposed under his green depredatory eyes. A feeling she did not dislike, after all, she has been trying to get his attention for a long time.
With no traces of shyness, Rumi approached the bed, allowing Adam to have a better look over her body even though that wasn't her true intention.
Seeing as he kept staring all over her semi-naked body put a smile on her face, but she quickly ignored these thoughts and put her hands on her hips, looking down at Adam suspiciously.
' I know it's him from a mile away because of his scent, but how the hell did he appear out of nowhere without me noticing.'
With a characteristic frown, she demanded firmly:
"Explain."
Adam smiled at how straightforward this bunny girl was. He couldn't see a trace of shame in her body language, on the contrary, she seemed to enjoy that he was checking her out.
" You want the long version or the short one?"
Adam playfully asked as he stood up from the bed, stopping right in front of Rumi.
Since he was quite taller than the 159 cm tall girl, towering over her at 190 cm, Rumi had to look up. She took it as a challenge and grinned wildly, her competitive side getting the best out of her.
"Keep it short."
But...
"Well, I awakened this morning, I can teleport now."
Her grin broke into a confusion-filled smile, not expecting this revelation.
"Eh?"
