Chapter 238: Chapter: 238

"Thank you, Captain." Baymax felt deeply moved at this moment, and it now understood why Mark attached so much importance to its emotional perception engine within the core intelligence.

Mark had fervently stated that it would be the key for Baymax to evolve from a powerful artificial intelligence to an intelligent lifeform.

At the moment when Star-Lord made his comforting promise, Baymax felt as if a heart inside it was beating vigorously. This was a magical sensation it had never experienced since its creation and two years of wandering in space.

Although this feeling was merely an illusion, the fact that it occurred was already a miracle. Machines do not possess false emotions; all their actions are executed according to programmed instructions.

The emergence of this illusion indicated that Baymax had undergone some unexplainable evolution, transcending its mechanized programming.

As for whether it had evolved into an intelligent lifeform, Baymax was uncertain. Without a reference, it couldn't accurately assess and define its own existence.

However, what was certain was that Mark's initial judgment was correct. Now, Baymax was gradually developing its emotions, making it evolve into a true living being.

In the end, Berly was disappointed and reluctantly agreed to Baymax's request for a body examination. This wasn't what she had hoped for. "I wonder what it feels like to be with an inflatable robot?"

With such thoughts, Berly looked at Baymax's four sturdy inflatable fingers, and her face turned red with embarrassment. Nevertheless, she cooperated with Baymax during the physical examination.

Regardless, Baymax successfully obtained Berly's body data. It was just following the habit it developed while with Mark - always attempting to collect relevant data about mysterious and unknown objects. As for Berly's fantasies, it was beyond Baymax's current level of evolution to comprehend such complex emotions.

Beep-beep-beep!

At that moment, the ship's communication device emitted a sound, indicating an incoming call to the Milano.

"Peter, there's a call for you." Berly informed Star-Lord and, without a second thought, connected the communication.

"Wait, don't answer!" Upon Berly's reminder, Star-Lord quickly spoke up, fear and trepidation visible in his eyes.

But his action was too slow, and it was too late to stop it; Berly had already answered the call for him. Seeing Star-Lord's panicked expression, Berly knew she might have caused trouble.

"Quill!" As the communication connected, a majestic voice loudly called out Star-Lord's surname, causing him to shiver. He stiffly turned around, facing the holographic screen on the Milano.

The person displayed on the screen was the one who initiated the call, the space rogue who adopted and trained Star-Lord to become an intergalactic Ravager- Yondu.

"Hey, Yondu!" Star-Lord tried to act calm while greeting Yondu, but his facial expression and body posture revealed his inner unease.

Yondu had blue skin and a rugged appearance, exuding a wild cowboy charm, with a shiny red, peculiar head fin complementing his bald head, giving him a cyberpunk-style look.

No wonder Star-Lord appeared cautious around him. Even if they were strangers who had never met before, encountering Yondu's appearance would likely make anyone feel uneasy.

"Met a new friend, Quill? Not bad at all. While I was freezing my butt off on Morag, I couldn't even catch a glimpse of you or the Cosmic Orb. And here you are, enjoying good times?"

"I just happened to be in the vicinity and wanted to help you out a bit," Star-Lord quickly responded, providing his explanation to Yondu's questioning.

Yondu: "Then tell me, where are you now? Hand over the Cosmic Orb to me, and I'll give you a little extra reward as a favor."

Star-Lord shook his head, indicating he wouldn't disclose his location, "The Cosmic Orb is not in my possession right now, so I have no intention of telling you where I am. When I arrived on Morag, there was nothing left. Moreover, I ran into the Kree soldiers, and you should know they're the underlings of the Accuser Ronan. I have no idea what kind of pursuit I'll face after that!"

The more Star-Lord tried to convince Yondu, the more Yondu believed that he had the Cosmic Orb but was unwilling to hand it over. "Quill, you can't do this. I set up this deal through a lot of effort..."

Before Yondu could finish his words, Star-Lord interrupted, "A lot of effort? Come on, Yondu. You made a few phone calls, that's all——"

"But you can't mess with the rules of our business! The Ravagers have their rules!" Yondu said passionately.

"That's right, and you've taught me that. But the truth is, there's really nothing on Morag, and I don't have the Cosmic Orb."

"Quill, I know you too well! I watched you grow up. When I came to Earth to pick you up, my crew wanted to eat you, as they hadn't tasted a human before. It was me who stopped them, so you could keep your life. And now, are you lying to your savior?"

"You just wait, Quill. I'll find you for sure. Do you want to keep all the money for yourself?"

After saying this, Yondu angrily terminated the communication, while Star-Lord rubbed his forehead in frustration. He had indeed stirred up a big mess this time.

Not only did he fail to get the Cosmic Orb and keep the money for himself, but he also got himself caught between Yondu and Ronan's forces, both chasing after him, believing he possessed the Cosmic Orb.

Star-Lord could already imagine the miserable life he would lead after today, being pursued by both sides.

Looking at their captain's distressed expression, Baymax felt a bit sorry. After all, it was Baymax's lie that got him into trouble.

The Cosmic Orb was now in Baymax's possession. As long as Baymax willingly handed it over, the other parties wouldn't trouble them anymore, and the danger would be resolved.

But Baymax knew the dangers of the Cosmic Orb. Once it fell into the hands of ambitious or evil individuals, it would surely cause catastrophic consequences.

Even if handing over the Cosmic Orb could temporarily save them, it would undoubtedly lead to even greater consequences in the future.

As Baymax hesitated about whether to tell the truth to Star-Lord, the captain made a decision.

"Let's head to Xandar. The Nova Corps guards it, and the space rogues won't dare to act recklessly there. Plus, the Kree Empire just signed a peace treaty with the Nova Prime.

I believe Ronan won't openly break the agreement. We'll lay low on Xandar for a while until things cool down or they become complacent, and then we'll continue our adventure!"
