Chapter 14: Chapter 14- When The Stars Align (Part 3)

Chapter 14- When The Stars Align (Part 3)

The mysterious person's voice sounded feminine and seductive, clearly belonging to a woman. Her tone was playful, not befitting the clear threat Sali thought this woman posed.

"Stay away." Sali replied coldly as she tightened her grip on the great sword.

At this point, people started noticing the abnormal behavior of these two and were slowly retreating away as whispers ensued.

"Oi, are these two gonna fight?! In the middle of the road?!"

"Shhh, you moron! Do you want to get us killed? Look at that woman's sword. It can hack you in two like a piece of paper."

"Where are the guards?"

As for Edward, he was barley able to capture the sound of their enemy. However, it was still unclear what or why she was following them.

"Hm, hm~ It's getting noisy here. How about we discuss this matter of a cup of tea?~ You can invite your family members too."

Immediately, Sali's expression darkened as she pulled out her sword and dashed toward the hooded woman. The moment she reached her, she swung the great sword horizontally, intending to cut the enemy in half.

Her speed and strength were impressive. However, that completely was outshined by what happened next.

'She disappeared.'

The sword moved in the air, hitting nothing in it's way.

"Kyaaa~ What a warm welcome!! I never thought you missed me that much in one single year, princess." The woman said as she reappeared behind her.

"I had so much fun messing around with your parents a year ago and I'm glad I get the opportunity to mess around with their daughter too~"

"Shut up!" Glaring back at the woman, Sali clenched her teeth as her eyes turned colder and colder.

"Those eyes~ The exact same eyes your mother showed me before she bit the dust~ I love them~~~ Ah, so intoxicating~" The woman hugged her covered body and moved around sensually as if she was having a great time.

"What the hell is happening outside?! Is this the person that killed the Frostbloom family?" Edward murmured in shock as he listened quietly.

"You two really gave us a hard time, you know. I had to go from one place to another, searching everywhere. It's not fun. But, it's all good as long as we get the kid."

"Hahahaha!!" Suddenly, Sali started laughing loudly.

"Hm? Why are you laughing, princess."

"No, nothing. It's just funny how stupid you are. Look behind you, bitch." She then pointed at the main gate behind them.

There, 5 or 6 trucks have already left the settlement, heading who knows where.

"My little brother is one of those trucks and each truck is heading in a different direction. I wonder where he went. Hmm, it might take you another year to find him."

'Sali...' Although her words may sound convincing, the truth is, Edward was still there, merely a few meters away from the whole mess.

"...."

"Yaaa, don't worry though. I'm sure you are going to find him. Fighting or whatever!" Sali mocked her again.

"What is happening here?"

At that time, a guard approached the two women from the main gate. He most likely noticed their weird behavior.

"No fighting is allowed here." As he was about to touch the hooded woman, the latter moved quickly and grabbed his face.

Then, in less than a second, the man's body was turned into ashes. No screams of pain, no extravagant magic use or skillful mana application. It ended and started quietly.

However, that simplicity is what made Sali feel the threat of the woman. She had turned a full human being into nothing in an instant. That power is beyond destructive.

Seeing what happened, all the citizens immediately shrieked before starting to run away as fear took over their senses. The whole Settlement was submerged in chaos.

"This is no good, princess. Do you understand what you just did?" The woman said, ignoring the screams of people around them.

"Yes, I made my little brother run away to safety."

"No, you let the hope of humanity to find a cure for Zombies run away. After all these years of pain and death, a miracle child was born that had special blood in his veins. No matter how much he get bitten, scratched or even injected with the infection, he never turns into a Zombie."

'Huh?! Such a person exists?' Edward couldn't believe his ears at all.

"However, even though he would be a valuable lab rat to create a cure, the clan he was born in refused to hand him over for these tests."

Sali frowned even harder as the woman kept speaking.

"On the other hand, because of his weird blood, he didn't possess any mana or element affinity since he was basically a Zombie that didn't turn into a Zombie. A useless, weak and talentless kid. The shame of the Frostbloom clan, Asher Frostbloom." The woman announced the name with a grin.

"I still don't get why you morons are protecting that kid. His only purpose in life is to be the guinea pig so that humanity could return to normal. Everything about him indicated that he was meant to be used this way. But, you and your parents defended him ferociously. Why is that?"

'I hope Asher didn't hear any of this.' Sali thought as she glared at the woman.

"He isn't useless, nor a lab rat or a guinea pig. Asher is a human, a kind and caring human with big dreams. You greedy lot merely wanted the money and fame that comes from creating the cure. You never cared whether humanity heals from the apocalypse or not."

"But that would still save millions of lives~."

"No! There is no guarantee it would. The chances of finding a cure are close to zero if not zero. I would never allow for my brother to be killed because of greed!!"

Shocking revelations, one after the other, Edward found himself in a chaotic mess.

'The cure... me? So, this is why Sali didn't reside in one place and opted to make us travel for over a year. She didn't want these people to locate us.'

"Tsk, tsk, so dissapointing. Well, it is what it is. Killing you was one of the objectives, anyway. Then, I will take my time locating that little kid."

'No, no, no... This is really turning out to be bad. Wait a second...' Suddenly, Edward realized something.

'In the original story, the Frostbloom was completely eradicated. No, this can't be...' The moment he reached that conclusion, his heart stopped as he quickly tried to push the lid of the box.

'Fuck! I can't get out!!'

'I need to hold her until the actual truck moves.' Tightening her fists on the sword, Sali focused completely on the woman.

'I will avenge you tonight, Mother... Father!!'
