Chapter 3: The brilliance hidden behind indifference
No, Aoki! I told you I wouldn't do anything with Ayumi, I don't like her.
Well, your loss. Besides, a lot of guys have already been with her.
That's right... (He's won an argument he didn't even have a chance of winning. He always gets his way).
Now I have to go talk to her and explain the conditions. It must be before the end of school hours. It could be during recess, but I'm not sure. If I'm seen with her... it's not like rumors are circulating. I've never talked to her, so they might suspect something. But people don't care much about what people outside their close circle do. If I can approach her in a place where there are no people I know, it might be the best option. But here's the problem: the few times I saw her, she was always with her friends. I rarely saw her alone.
Popular people really make me nervous. They're always surrounded by people and it's really hard for them not to see me. Damn, then it will be at the end of classes. Approximately 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I'll have to be patient. Class is about to start anyway.
"Sora, you're lost in your thoughts again. Class has already started," the teacher scolded me.
Damn it! This teacher again, why did I have to touch myself with her again? They say I'm her favorite in the class, and I actually agree. I shouldn't have been so good in literature last year. Now she's really worried about me.
"It's no good, teacher. Sorry, I was thinking about homework," I quickly replied, feeling all the stares of the class on me at the mention of the word "homework."
"Yes, guys, I forgot to give you homework. And thanks to Sora, I remembered. There will be extra homework for this week," the teacher announced.
I always forget these things. For students in my grade, the word "homework" is the worst word a teacher can say. It's as if you are declaring your sentence. At that moment, they all looked at me, but I just ignored them. I hope they don't scold me.
During recess, the whole class scolded me.
"Sora, did you get a spanking again?" asked Sakura.
Why do I always mess up, why does this happen to me?
"Don't worry, Sora. That's your funny, making everyone laugh," said Sakura trying to cheer me up.
Sakura is a girl I have known since childhood. She is a very good friend who has always helped me. Lately we have been talking a lot. She passes me homework and I, like a genius, pass her the class exams. Truth be told, it's easier than I expected. The professors don't really bother to change the answers. I noticed that they follow a pattern of years and repeat the exams every so often. I'm not criticizing anything, but it works for me. Sometimes there are slight modifications, but for the most part, everything is pretty much the same.
What I like most about Sakura is that she is quiet. We've become close friends because of our chats while doing homework. We talk about boys and girls in general. She tells me certain rumors and I keep them to myself, since I've always thought that I'll use them at some point. But Sakura is one of the few girls I talk to. In total, there are about 5 of us that I have confidence with. The others don't even come close to me unless they need help with homework.
"Again with that, Sakura. You know I don't like being the center of attention," I replied.
But her response got me thinking. It's true, I've hardly ever been seen angry or upset. I don't care though, I enjoy it in the end. Laughing all together.
"Truth be told, Sakura, you might be right," I admitted.
"See, I told you," she replied with a smile. It amazes me how well we get along and how we have different views on things that happen.
