Chapter 18: Before Entering the Cave

When I got home, my mom was in the kitchen cooking. Clem was most likely upstairs in her room. As I walked into the kitchen, my mom turned around and greeted me.
"Oh Roman, there you are! It was already getting late, I was wondering if you were still at work or not."
"Hi mom, sorry about that. I just stopped by to get something to eat."
My mom gave me a pouty face.
"Urgh! After all the effort I put into cooking! No one will eat again?"
'Oh man. She's far to old to be doing that.'
"I'll eat it later alright? I just really needed a meal right now. I'm going to head upstairs and work on homework, please don't interrupt me alright?"
"Fine! I guess I'll just eat with your father again tonight. Make sure to come back downstairs after and eat okay?"
I reassured her that I would and went upstairs.

'Welcome back Romeo!'
After I went to my room, I logged on and immediately pulled up my quest tab.
~One of One~
Quest Details: Ark Van has been living alone on the human continent for a century without a purpose. You have now given him a purpose. As a sign of thanks, he wants you to bring him the best ore possible. Unfortunately, bandits have stolen all the ores getting transported into the town. Retrieve the ores from the bandits hideout!
Time Limit: 24 hours
Reward: The skill "Smithing" is unlocked
(Note! To use the smithing skill you must train with Ark for at least 6 hours before the skill is available to you. You will also require level 5 in these following skills before you can use smithing: Strength & Magic)
'Good, I still have time.'
Since I was already near the bandit cave, I sat down and wanted to look through my skills and spells. I should formulate a plan so that this could go smoothly. I pulled up my character attributes first and then pulled up my skills. My character attributes look something like this:
Character Name: Romeo
Registered Name: Roman
Character Level: 6 (+1)
* 1500 xp until the next level
HP: 266 (+10)
MP: 500 (+390)
Attack: 188 (+20)
Stamina: 230 (+30)
Defense: 125 (+5)
Agility: 160 (+10)
Boosts: +100 to all attributes (Ring of Deus). Double XP (Ring of Deus)
My skills look like this:

<Magic Level 2> A/N: He gained this after reading the book on magic.

While looking at my stats, I noticed that there was a small arrow next to 'Magic Level', I press it and it suddenly opens up. I see three things under the magic level.
Beelzebub (Advanced Rank)
Lighting Manipulation (Beginner Rank)
Gravity Manipulation (Unranked)
"Holy shit!?? What is my luck?!"
When you first read the magic book, you will unlock the magic skill as well as receive three free skills/spells related to magic. They are all suppose to be Unranked with a small chance of them being a higher ranked. Luckily, two of my three skills are starting out above Unranked, with one being Advanced Ranked already!
These skills/spells will rank up when your character ranks up. Meaning once I reach Beginner Rank, gravity manipulation will also increase its rank to Beginner as well. Sadly, that means Beelzebub won't rank up until I become a Saint.
I use my Vision Skill on the Beelzebub ability. After a few seconds, a shirt description comes up.
"Steal your enemies' life force. It turns into XP that will nourish your growth. Only works if they are still alive."
Short and simple. I must be the protagonist of my own story if I somehow got my hands on such an OP skill.
Now… I need to get to Magic Level 5 to use the Smithing skill. I guess I will have to use my magic abilities during the attack but…
Gravity manipulation and lighting manipulation aren't that great for battle. You can only manipulate the area around you. Unranked skills can only reach up to 4 feet and Beginner could only reach up to 5 feet. If an enemy is beyond that point, my manipulation abilities won't affect any of them. That means, I would need to fight in close combat for these skills to be actually useful. Hopefully, the Beelzebub ability will give me some magic xp when I use it.
While I try to formulate an attack strategy, I hear the footsteps of many people running towards me. I quickly got up and hid in the bushes, just off the path that led to the bandit cave. Not a moment later, I saw a group of men appear around the path.

As Roman hid, he used his Vision Skill and focused on the group, making sure he didn't miss anything. As the group got closer, he could kind of make out what they were saying.
"HAHA! Easy money! We can sell all the men and have fun with all the women!"
"The boss needs to hurry up!! I can't wait any longer!!"
Just from their rough look and arrogant behavior, Roman could deduce that they were bandits. There were 12 of them. One of them suddenly looked back.
"Hurry the hell up!! Or we will make you watch us play with your wives and daughters!!"
The group laughed together at the thought of the doing that. While they laughed, Roman saw four other men dragging what seemed to be a cage. Roman looked at the cage and what he saw disgusted him. Some fat bastard was humping a lifeless body while the four men were dragging the cage. In the cage were 6 women, all were crying and looking away from the horror that was happening in the cage.
Roman lost control of his emotions for a moment but that was all it took for the bandits to suddenly be on alert. A wave of killing intent came from Roman and it was directed at all the bandits. The bandits took out there weapons and faced in his direction. The fat bastard rushed out with his pants still hanging down.
"Who is it?! Who dares attack the Jewel Bandits!??"
The fat man seemed to be the leader as he stood in front of the others. Roman couldn't help but smile. They were making it too easy for him.
"Boss! Be careful! Who knows what's out there."
The group wanted to circle around their boss and protect him but as they moved, Roman made his move. He swiftly jumped out from his hiding spot and rushed at the group. He pulled out his sword and charged it up using his lighting manipulation. He throws it at the group and it stabs into the ground.
The bandits were wary of the sword so they tried moving away. Unfortunately, the lighting running through the sword shot out of it and went into the closes living thing. The men screamed in pain as it shocked them.
Roman ran as fast as he could. He knew that the lighting would only last a few seconds since it left his effective manipulation zone. The men saw Roman and began shouting in fear, the fat man being the most vocal.
"Don't let him near us!! Kill him before he reaches us!!!"
The ones that were able to move, prepared a few spells and shot it at Roman. The others were getting ready to join in as well since they could feel the effects of the lighting begin to weaken.
Roman had to think quick on his feet. Three different spells were heading towards him.
'Beelzebub is my only option!'
Even though he wasn't sure that he could absorb the spells, he had to take the chance. The Vision Skill didn't show everything that it could do. Roman reached out with his hands and yelled out,
"Beelzebub!"
Roman could feel the mana in his body move around. As the spells got closer and made physical contact with Roman's hand, the spells suddenly disappeared into his hand. Roman could feel the mana return to him. His body begins to warm up.
'This must be a side effect from the ability.'
"What the fuck…"
The bandits were shocked. They were at a lost for words. Those spells that were meant to kill Roman had suddenly vanished. Before they could process everything, they felt as if their bodies had gotten 10 times heavier. All of them fell to the floor, unable to move.
Roman had moved close enough that his abilities could work properly. He activated his gravity manipulation and made it so that the area around them got 10 times heavier.
When the men saw Roman, they began to unconsciously shake and cower. The killing intent coming from him frightened these murderous bandits. Roman's eyes gaze upon the men and stopped when he saw the fat man.
Roman dragged him out and laid him out on his back.
"What… what are you going to do to me!?"
The fat man had already pissed himself in fear and now that Roman dragged him out, he felt that his end was near.
Roman takes his sword back and stabs the man's shin. A loud crack could be heard.
"AHHHH! Stop!!! I'll do whatever you want!!!"
Roman didn't stop. He sent a wave of lighting through the sword and into his body. The fat man began shaking violently as the electric currents traveled through him. The other bandits looked away, scared that they would be next but Roman wouldn't allow it.
"You fucks better not look away!"
Out of fear, the other bandits listened to him and looked back up at their pitiful boss.
After a few minutes, Roman had enough. He pulled out the sword and then started to mutilate the fat man's genitals. The man screamed in pain, shouting and pleading for Roman to stop. When Roman kept going, the fat man had passed out from the pain and blood loss.
The other bandits flinched and unconsciously covered their own manhood. As the men looked on, Roman could be heard saying a few things to himself.
"This is what you get. This is what you deserve for forcing yourself upon another person."
As Roman finished he saw many red warning signs pop up in the corner of his vision. He quickly opens up the character activity to see what was going on.
