Chapter 48: Chapter 48 - Sports Festival Arc VI
Shortly after Ikiru returned to the stands, Mina and Yuga's match began. Mina easily dodged Yuga's lasers and won the match. "Wish me luck, my love," Momo said before getting up and heading to the ring. "Only those who don't know what to do need luck. Don't take too long," Ikiru said as he watched Momo leave. The next match was between Momo and Fumikage. Fumikage was a strong member of the 1-A class. However, his weakness was very obvious. At the same time, the structure of the stadium and the ring put him at a disadvantage.
Fumikage and Momo were facing each other in the ring. "I apologise in advance, Tokoyami-san," Momo said, showing respect to her opponent. "Don't underestimate me, Yaoyorozu-san, or you'll regret it," said Fumikage. When Midnight saw that they were both ready, she cracked her whip and shouted, " Begin!" Fumikage immediately controlled the dark shadow to attack Momo. Momo looked at the dark shadow coming towards her. She activated her Quirk, creating a powerful flashlight from her right hand that mimicked sunlight. She immediately switched it on and pointed it at the dark shadow. At the same time, she created a flash grenade from her left hand and immediately threw it at the Fumikage. As soon as she threw the grenade, she created another pair of protective goggles in front of her eyes. When the flash grenade exploded, she created a cannonball in her left hand and took a throwing position. She continued to shine the flashlight in her right hand at the Fumikage. Dark Shadow was weakened by the light from the flashlight. But when the flash grenade exploded, it returned to the Fumikage before it could reach Momo.
As soon as the bomb wore off, Momo threw the cannonball she had created at the Fumikage. As Fumikage tried to stop the cannonball, Momo kicked him and sent him out of the ring. As Fumikage rose from the ground with the kick, he immediately instructed dark shadow to grab onto the edge of the ring. However, little did he know that Momo had already countered this. Just as Dark Shadow grabbed onto the ring, a flash grenade exploded in front of it. Dark Shadow, sensitive to light, immediately released his hold on the ring, causing the Fumikage to fall out of the ring and make contact with the ground. Midnight immediately declared Momo the winner.
The entire audience in the stadium was mesmerised by this match. They were excited and on the edge of their seats. Fumikage Tokoyami was at a disadvantage because of the environment. And his opponent did the right thing by turning this situation to her advantage and taking advantage of Fumikage's weakness," said Aizawa.
Momo, meanwhile, had returned to the stands. She immediately sat down next to Ikiru and looked at him expectantly. "Well done, you did well," said Ikiru as he kissed Momo's cheek. "Hn!" said Momo, shaking her head, red as a tomato. That whet Ikiru's appetite, but they were in public right now. The next match was between Kirishima and Tetsutetsu. Immediately, they both stepped into the ring and began to challenge each other. As soon as the sound of Midnight's whip was heard, the two began a fistfight. Kirishima's Quirk was to harden his skin, while Tetsutetsu's allowed him to turn his skin into whatever he touched. The duo put on more of an MMA match than a battle of super-powered humans.
The match ended with the two simultaneously punching each other until they passed out. Midnight announced that the match was a draw. Once the first round was over, the two would compete again with a different method of competition. "Even though it lacks technique, it's natural that this kind of fight will impress people more easily. If the fight was bloodier, it would be more fun," Ikiru said while eating popcorn. Momo took a handful of popcorn from Ikiru's bucket, "This style is only suitable for show. Neither of them would last more than a few seconds against someone with real technique," Momo said as she ate the popcorn.
The next match was between Ochaco and Bakugo. The two entered the ring. Ochaco was nervous, and Bakugo was smiling. On Midnight's signal, the match began. Bakugo immediately charged forward, using his Quirk to close the distance. Instead of dodging Bakugo, Ochaco used his Quirk on the concrete slabs that made up the floor of the ring and lifted them up. After lifting the slabs, she began throwing them at Bakugo. Bakugo exploded all the plates thrown at him and continued to narrow his distance from Ochaco.
When Ochaco lifted the last plate and threw it, Bakugo was right in front of her. Bakugo dodged the plate and sent a blast into Ochaco's right rib cage. Ochaco rolled on the ground. Clutching her ribs, she got to her feet. Meanwhile, the crowd booed Bakugo. Aizawa commented on this. "The audience seems to think that because Ochaco is a woman, Bakugo should go easy on her. By not holding back, Bakugo shows his respect and faith in his opponent. The fact that most adults can't be as smart as a fifteen-year-old boy reflects what our country has become," Aizawa said solemnly.

Advertising, catching the same villains over and over again? Next time you talk to me, watch your language. Mezo Shoji and Koji Koda were the most surprised by Ikiru's words. They were used to everyone ignoring the issue, despite having witnessed mutant racism on more than one occasion. Hearing someone say it out loud touched them. Kirishima was angry at Ikiru's words, but before he could speak, there was a huge explosion in the ring. Bakugo clasped his hands together, pointing at the concrete falling from the sky towards him, creating the most powerful explosion he could. The explosion was so violent that the vibration was felt throughout the entire stadium. Seeing that her attack had not worked, Ochaco, instead of giving up, attacked Bakugo. Bakugo beat her until she lost consciousness. Midnight, seeing that Ochaco had fainted, immediately declared Bakugo the winner. Before the next round of the fighting tournament, Kirishima and Tetsutetsu had an arm-wrestling contest. Because of this, Kirishima angrily left the stands.
