Maleficent's POV
It is finally the resumption of the third year. I decided to sleep in seeing as It isn't decided yet whether I would take job from Dumbledore or not, and even if I wanted the job, I could just apparate right outside Hogwarts grounds. I'm not going to let my beauty sleep go to waste. Then I dozed off. I woke up around 8:00 am and got ready for the day. I apparated out of the house by 8:30 am and appeared in front of the Hogwarts gates. I suddenly felt hands grip my arms behind me and someone blindfolded me and lead me somewhere. When the blindfold was removed it took me sometime to adjust to the light and my eyes widened when I realized that I was in the Great Hall and everyone was staring at me. I looked behind me and realized that the person that was physically restraining me was none other than Severus Snape. I hated that git. Snape and I went to Hogwarts the same year and he was an absolutely insufferable git. He annoyed me from time to time because he saw as a target to take his anger out on either occasion where James Potter would bully him or when he came to accept the fact that he and Lilly Evans weren't meant to be. He always seemed to lash out on me and it infuriated me. Since I haven't been her for him to annoy, I'm sure he's been terrorizing the students here from first year.
I looked forward and saw Dumbledore sitting on the Headmaster chair on the teacher's table. I decided to embarrass Snape a bit and inform people about the little revelation between me and Dumbledore where I would be protecting the school. I had also looked into the school and the students from different families that resided here.
"Snape, We meet again. First of all let me go, you greasy haired git!" I said annoyed and angry.
"Why? It's your fault you got caught in the first place. People aren't supposed to wander around Hogwarts grounds at this time. What business do you have here either way?" Snape said in his usual monotoned voice.
"First let me go you nosy sod then I'll tell why I'm here." I said, still trying to wiggle away from his grip. If only I had my wand.
"If you came here to steal or kidnap, just say..."
Snape said said in his monotoned voice but I cut him off.
"Dumbledore, Just tell him why you called me here because he's calling me a criminal and I'm starting to get annoyed." I said in obvious annoyance.
Everyone then turned to Dumbledore with curiosity including the students that were watching the scene and Snape that was still holding me captive.Dumbledoure stood up from his seat and proceeded to explain.
"I decided that it was not necessarily safe with Sirius Black roaming free even if dementors are surrounding the school. So I decided to appoint Maleficent to protect because she's the most skilled witch I know.
I would also like her to teach Harry Potter and his friends how to defend themselves against the dementors but the defense training also applies to people who want to defend themselves from the dementors." Dumbledore explained to the school.
"Where will I be staying exactly?" I asked curiously as Snape let me go and went back to the teacher's table while the whole school looked from me to Dumbledore.
"You will be sleeping in the boys dorm room since there is no space in the girls dorm and you will be switching between houses to ensure everyone in is treated equally and is equally safe." Dumbledore said.
"So, I don't have a specific place I'm staying exactly?" l asked confused.
"Yes." Dumbledore answered.
"Though Dumbledore, there's a problem with the lodging. You know how I am with men and I know that I'm not looking for a boyfriend or a potential husband even though I'm 18 years old. But you should warn them in advance. They're teenagers after all. And Merlin knows that if any of them should act weird, so help me, I'll break their limbs and have their head."
I said with a dissatisfied and threatening tone. All the boys in the Great Hall shuddered.
"Don't worry nothing will happen. For tonight, you will be sleeping in the Gryffindor dorm room with Dean Thomas, Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnagan, Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter. You can bring your luggage in the morning. Enjoy your stay, Maleficent. Good night everyone." Dumbledore said. Everyone started leaving the Great Hall and I followed the boy Dumbledore described to me as Harry Potter. I watched as everyone entered the Gryffindor common room and Harry sat on the common room couch in between three redheads, two taller than the other and a bushy brown haired girl. I walked over to make conversation.
"Harry Potter?" I asked.
"Yes. Oh... You must be Maleficent. Nice to meet you." Harry said.
"I'm indeed Maleficent VonQuill. I just came to make small talk and get to know you better or answer any questions you probably have about this whole ordeal, so do you mind introducing yourselves."
"Those are the Weasley twins, the pranksters of Hogwarts, This is Ronald Weasley, one of the members of our trio, That is Hermione Granger, she is the smartest one of us and a Muggle born." Harry said indicating them.
"Can I ask what the defensive training against the dementors are about?" Harry asked.
"You'll get to know soon enough. Meet me after classes tomorrow by the Black lake." I said.
"Well, we'll be going to bed now. Good night." Harry said.
"Good night." I said. They left. After a few minutes, I removed my black cloak and remained in my crop top and shorts. I plopped down to the couch and covered myself with my cloak. Within minutes, I fell asleep.
