Chapter 2: Onlooker

I'm going to try acting here... For one thing and one fact that I was asleep for a long time in the coffin, and this could also be my chance to find out about where I am, so...

Teresa turned away, her eyes sharp like a predator ready to pounce on its prey. And there, she said. "Tell me."

Her voice paused for a moment, before finally continuing. "Anything that happened while I was asleep."

The maid replied in a soft voice: "My apologies... my Lady."

The remorseful voice resounded in her ears, like a child's sincere apology. Because of this, she wondered.

Now why, why was she apologising? Just remembered something?

Teresa furrowed her brow, then in a harsh tone, she asked. "Say, what's wrong?"

"Actually, I too recently woke up from my old sleep. It was quite short, about 10 years ago before you woke up, my Lady." A pair of smiles spread across the 'maid's' face.

... I think calling 10 years ago a relatively short time is not normal. Why do you say it as if 10 years is 10 days, O beautiful maid?!

The maid closed her eyes, "So I'm quite happy to know that you woke up from a 200-year long sleep, my Lady."

Teresa shivered. It was as if she couldn't help being amused by her servant's words. Quite the dramatic scene. And what the hell does that mean? Does it mean that there is a big event happening out there, or that this body has been asleep for too long like a coma for 200 years?

At this moment, the maid's gaze, as well as her voice sharpened. "In that period of time, there were many things that happened, such as the development of steam engines,

"That is, factory production engines, steam trains and so on; as for the sudden awakening of 'Divinity' in humans who believe in Gods, I don't know exactly, but rumour has it that it happened in the past right after you fell asleep, my Lady; and the most recent was the awakening of 'Cornelius Mar', one of the five ancestors who was still alive and sound asleep."

Her pair of sea-blue eyes closed, and her mouth opened slightly, before finally saying. "Interesting. There seems to be a lot going on without my knowledge."

She looked away, then continued. "You may leave."

"Alright." The maid replied. At the same time, both hands lifted the hem of her skirt, then bowed politely. "Good night, Mrs Nella."

"Good night." Teresa didn't look away, nor did she smile, only the words were faintly audible.

The sound of footsteps became blurred after ten seconds passed. At this moment, Teresa muttered loudly in her head:

Nella? Huh... who is that? I don't even know her!

Ancestor? since when do I have an ancestor... Ugh, a lot of information is coming into my head right now. I wouldn't be surprised if my head suddenly exploded! Boom!

***

The door banged softly, as a woman dressed as a 'maid' displayed a beautiful smile on her face.

It had been a long time. The Lady seemed to be someone else, looking beautiful with her cold personality. If it was her in the past, she didn't hesitate to ignore me like a pebble being trampled.

The maid turned away in doubt. "I'm glad she has changed."

***

Ah, damn... I need to sort out this information now.

Nella flopped down on the chair and shook her head, then sighed.

'Melmehia', a random piece of words... obviously impossible, right? Then what is it? The right hand that had just been holding on to the chin dropped gently.

I can't guess due to lack of information at the moment. If there was a library here, I would borrow some books to research on this.

Actually, she was already convinced that there was a library in this place. In a gloomy but grand place like this, with maids coming to visit, and 'Nella's' identity as 'Lady', it was certain that this place was the manor of a nobleman.

At first, she didn't really believe it. But after reviewing all the information, she believed it was only a matter of time until her hypothesis was correct.

Then the warning...

It was definitely a warning to me, no, to Nella who had just woken up. And the warning was like telling me to be careful.

But... does it mean to be careful with a person, a place, or even an item? I'll find out about this too later.

Despite repeated dives into memory, the warning remains a blur. Only two disconnected words were left, accompanied by a loud noise. 'Corn… Ma…' sounds like a name. Either a person or a place.

In the library later on, checking that was the main goal when sorting through books - and 'Melmehia' was no exception, he would endeavour to find it. In particular, her main focus was on the history of the past two centuries, which had been told to her for free by the maid.

Teresa sighed. The look on her face changed with great satisfaction, but unfortunately it was only a momentary sight.

It may be important to seek information about transmigration down to its roots. My desire to go home. Even though I don't want to go back it's definitely not a bad thing to understand this. I don't know, it could be a provision for someday.

As a first step I need to get used to this identity. Nella. I have to play a 'Lady'. Heh, I'm not an experienced actor and I've never even worked in that field so it's quite difficult because I have no real experience. So this is probably my first lesson in adjusting.

Nella imagines a future where she is always hiding behind a mask, and then assumes that it is normal in everyday life. The more masks behind her face, the better she is at lying.

After that, she was about to leave the room then opened the door, her eyes flickering. Nella froze, listening to the soft yet icy voice. "Good evening, Lady Nella."

Nella turned towards the direction the voice came from, then a maid appeared elegantly while bowing politely. A pair of blood-red eyes were set on her face.

Nella stiffened, but she maintained her normal-looking face. Since being called 'Nella' was not a habit, she was confused. It reminded her of when she was called by a nickname and the first reaction was quite similar.

Hmmm... Another maid? Nella opened and closed her mouth.

"I apologise for interrupting your time, my Lady, I'm here to deliver a message from Lady Myra Labey." Feeling rude, the maid closed her sharp eyes.

Nella looked at her silently, then nodded. "Speak up."

"First of all, I'm happy for you to wake up from your long sleep, Lady Nella." She paused here, as if preparing herself to move on to a more serious topic.

"Lady Myra Labey was also delighted to hear this good news. Therefore, she spontaneously invited you to her residence for a party to welcome your awakening."

As soon as Nella heard that, she froze and railed:

Oh come on, what and who else now? I just woke up and you invited me right away! Where did you get the information about me waking up anyway! Was it from the maid?

If the news spread from maid's mouth to maid's mouth then that was the most acceptable reason. However, she felt that the tempo for the news to spread was too fast.

Didn't the maid leave not long ago? That's why she was confused.

But certainly, I must refuse! Not because I don't have any memories of this body, but because I have no information about who Myra Labey is!

Let's say the world is a zoo, so what if I end up in the lion's den and die?

Before getting much information, Nella thought that it was much better to stay in this place. After all, before accepting the invitation, Nella needed to prepare questions and answers. Therefore, the right time to accept the invitation was right when she had already researched some things in the library.

If I go there right away, I might be discovered as a fake and killed immediately!

Suspicion sometimes causes a lot of trouble too!

After thinking about it, Nella replied, "I just woke up and I'm not in a good state to travel either. So just tell Myra Labey that I plan to come visit when I'm better."

"Of course, Lady Nella. She has also taken this into consideration, and she hopes that at the very least, you can come to her manor within the next week when you have recovered." Said the maid, still speaking in a cold tone.

Uh, what does that mean? What happens if I don't come?

Instantly, the scenario played out vividly in his head. At the same time, her soft lips formed a grin and were about to speak. "Alright, thank you. Give my regards to her."

The maid bowed and left.

Seeing the maid suddenly walk away, Nella remembered something, and frowned. F*ck, what's the meaning of this? Firstly, the strange voice. Secondly, the maids who came suddenly because they were ordered to invite me...

But the second question could be because Myra Labey was worried about her, right? After all, Nella had slept for two hundred years. Yes, any normal person would visit her friend after she's been asleep for so long.

But according to Teresa who has now become Nella, sleeping for two hundred years is also not normal...

Forget it, the important thing now is to find information first.

Shaking her head, Nella continued her walk. She circled a long hallway with many large doors on the right that led to different rooms.

The ceilings were so high with various luxurious decorations and looked elegant. Even Nella, who lives in modern times as an office worker, was amazed by its splendour.

By the time Nella reached the spacious room, her eyes took in the ornate roses, some quirky old paintings, and the three maids who were cleaning everything.

The three maids stopped what they were doing when they saw Nella, and bowed while saying in unison. "Good evening, Lady Nella."

Maybe it was because they were in a big room, so their voices echoed and sounded like a professional choir to Nella's ears.

Nella only nodded slightly at that, her face looking calm but still maintaining a cold face.

There are so many maids here, Nella seems to be very rich. At least if she has a lot of wealth, this transmigration won't be so bad. This will make it easier to find information.

Nella smiled in thought, at least she didn't have to work like before!

But then suddenly now she remembered: She had just been nice and polite by showing a sweet smile to the expressionless maid, when she had just promised to always play the role of 'Nella' the cold Lady! Would the maid be suspicious of her behaviour?

As Nella muttered this, she felt a cold stare directed at her back. Her body and soul even seemed to shiver to the point of making her look back. But she found no one. The gaze disappeared as if blown away by the wind.

What a strange feeling... I should have been more careful. Nella frowned, but the feeling that cooled down just now still lingered.

At times her mind wanders in various places. Nella met other maids on the way, their activities were different but their behaviour was the same when they came face to face with Nella. But this time, Nella replied by simply giving a nod and a cold stare.

When they were behind her, Nella couldn't help but think.

I could feel them continuing to stare at me when I wasn't looking, but when I fixed my gaze on them, they immediately averted their eyes and pretended nothing had happened.

Heh... scared? Just like the maid I first met. This is great news for me so I don't have to bother talking so much!

Pleased with that, Nella then noticed many windows on the left side of the corridor. How amazing, I've walked for quite a while, yet I still haven't found the end of this manor. It's so big...

The windows had such a strange glow, it was like the lights were designed to be red. Honestly, it was a little scary, but on the other hand, it gave me peace of mind.

Without thinking about anything else Nella suppressed all her thoughts and went back to exploring, she should at least memorise all the rooms in this house.

After a few minutes of wandering around, and occasionally entering the room. Nella finally confirmed that she had explored everything and found that there were many things here. Such as the music room, library, tea room, painting room, etc.

Dan akhirnya di sinilah Nella, berdiri tepat di depan pintu utama keluar yang besar, dengan masing-masing jendela yang sama besarnya di samping.

On the window glass, the strange red light from outside reflected slightly.

Nella steadied herself, let out a breath, and then her soft, beautiful fingers gently pushed the door open.

The cracks then opened, and they all brought colder winds in, if she was in Teresa's body she would probably be annoyed at them, yet now she was Nella. A strange person who had slept for two hundred years, such wind somehow seemed to suit her.

As she walked out and gradually descended the white stone stairs that had only a few steps. Nella smiled lightly, yet she did not expose her face.

Finally...

The wind blew strongly, brushing her face and ringing the leaves. Not even a pair of birds could make an appearance and chose to laugh at the woman on the moonlit stage.

Unfortunately, even the bird's contemptible laughter was mere dust to her.

Nella is like a blue-eyed fairy. Even when bathed in reddish light, her beauty does not fade easily.

She was also like a princess walking on a stage full of flowers. Even though a long time has passed, she dances gracefully and is even as beautiful as the Crimson moon looking down from the sea of stars.

"The crimson moon, a different world, also..." Her body stopped. Nella looked at the Crimson moon attentively. Then her lips trembled, continuing the previous sentence:

"Nella, new identity."

Ah, how beautiful, this crimson moon that symbolises the blood moon.
