Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - Returning to the Past

A person can never return to the past; if one can, avoid repeating the same mistake because there might not be another chance.

...

Colond City, Sorrel Kingdom

A boy with bright golden hair and clear azure eyes was staring out the window inside a mansion. The boy had a delicate appearance contrasting the room he was staying in.

The room was full of dust, as if it had been unclean for a long time, and the furniture was mostly left crumbling without being repaired.

'It had been a month since I returned to when I was a child.' The boy, Theodore Hale, thought to himself.

He was not the old child he was a month ago; he recalled himself living another complete life. He saw himself growing up, cultivating, traveling, and dying.

The life he saw also belonged to Theodore Hale himself. He witnessed the destruction of the cities, kingdoms, empires, and the continent.

Living to the end was a blessing for him and a curse. Seeing the bustling people in this city again was like a dream. He remembered returning and seeing the remnants of the collapsed city with no survivors; his heart ached. He would never let the future repeat itself.

Over the past week, he tried finding ways to escape; however, there were none. His uncle was not a careless person who would leave a loophole behind.

Maids and butlers were outside the room, and guards patrolled the mansion. Most of whom were brought in by his uncle, replacing those loyal to his parents.

Thinking of his uncle, Theodore could not help but gnash his teeth. The current poor situation of the city and the future destruction was directly related to him.

His uncle was Dante Hale, a quiet person who had never competed for power. Who would have thought he would change into another person after the disappearance of his father and mother?

There was also no one to stop him. The Hale family had already withered; people from the family started disappearing and dying in the past decade.

There was no one to intercede with his uncle in the current situation. The family's main focus was to find the culprit, and the uncle was also the only remaining direct descendant beside him.

If his uncle could kill him, he might have done so already. However, the consequence of doing so would be pretty big. At least his mother's family, a great noble family, would not just let it go.

Therefore, his uncle left him alone and restricted his freedom while focusing on seizing the power of the family.

Theodore looked at his situation and could not help signing. He was already seven years old, yet he had never received any primary education.

Most aristocratic children received the chance to measure their talent and start their education at five. He was already late by two years.

The early years of training were critical as they could lay a foundation for the body while growing up, but he missed these crucial years. The early year was also the golden year for cultivating mana.

He would not feel this anxious if he had not recalled his future life and knew the value of the years he wasted.

'Now, I can only wait. That person should arrive soon.' Theodore cheered himself up. He had many plans to improve his situation, but they could only start after leaving this place.

He still remembered meeting his teacher, his father's friend, for the first time. According to his future memory, he would follow this person to train and study under him.

It was the change of his destiny. He would have rotted here without his future teacher's help, being left alone and killed when his value was gone.

Theodore could only continue to wait. He could not recognize the current date, but he was sure he had met his teacher in the season of Earth this year.

Theodore resumed his life of staring outside the window in a daze when a middle-aged maid came in.

"Young master, a guest comes to visit. You should get dressed." The woman said without the slightest respect; she was one of the people brought in by his uncle, Dante.

'Is it finally this day.' Theodore thought to himself excitedly while following the maid for further cleaning and dressing.

After the maid finished clothing him, Theodore could not help looking at himself in the mirror. It had been a long time since he could dress like this. Before the disappearance of his parents, when had he suffered?

'Everything is going to change now.' Theodore anticipated his future before taking the last look at himself in the mirror. He walked to the maid, showing he was ready, and left the room with her.

As Theodore followed, his heart could not help beating hard. Although he knew that only his teacher would come to meet him at this time, he could not help but feel afraid that something might go wrong.

He was frightened by the idea that the future he saw was just his dream, his imagination, and his uncle would restrict him for the rest of his life.

Theodore continued walking to the reception hall; his heart could not help but let go when he saw that feature of Nathan Ashford, his teacher and the person who would change his life.
