Chapter 1: Awakening Ceremony
As the day of awakening approached, Genesis started to feel nervous yet expectant. It was the day that every young individuals anticipated in their lives.
The day of Soul Awakening Ceremony.
Today is the ceremony of awakening, the high schools will open the Soul Awakening Chamber, where the students will start to awaken their Soul Talent and find their fated Innate Soul Pet.
Being soul awakened means you'll officially be entering the world of Soul Awakened. You can start to contract soul pets, acquire magical abilities, enter the mysterious dimensions, raid dungeons and defend humanity from the monster invaders.
Soul Warrior or Soul Professors are the two paths of Soul Awakened that one can choose to develop. They can be described as warriors and scholars in the ancient times.
Soul Warriors are soul awakened who possess combat related ability and skills. While Soul Professors are more complicated. Soul Professors are divided into three branch; The Soul Pet Doctor, Researcher and Alchemist.
As the Dimensions and Dungeons descended years ago, it brought both disaster and opportunity that changed the entirety of Earth.
Earthlings awakened and monsters invaded. Treasures popped up and death is constant.
The phenomenon of awakening develops a path for humanity, the Soul Warrior who fights and defends the human settlements that made many humans survive the calamity and Soul Professors that explored, invented and discovered to strengthen the knowledge of Earthlings about the Dimensions and the Soul Pets that allowed everyone to develop in this chaotic era.
The new energy was called Soul Star Energy. It was said that the planet earth has this energy but it was almost non-existent. The dimension descent revived this magical energy.
Now, humanity defended the claimed territories and developed the uses of Soul Talents in many aspects of society. Every human longed to be awakened and stepped into that path.
Soul pets became human trusted companions and partners.
Now, human demographics of awakened reached as high as 55% and the remaining are normal humans.
Genesis already knew what she wanted early on as she watched her father and brothers work hard for the family. They're once an aristocratic family in the country but a disaster strikes their family that leads to their decline.
Her father and older brother are busy reviving the family business and industries all this time while she and her younger brother can only wait to grow up to be able to help.
Her father is injured and she didn't know his current status, her older brother Leviticus doesn't have a strong combat class soul talent and is busy inheriting the business.
No one in her family is strong enough to protect everyone.
And she wanted to be that person.
Genesis put down her spoon as she finished her food. Her younger brother Dionysus raised a brow at her after noticing that she stopped eating her movement and glanced at her plate, only nodding in satisfaction when he saw her plate empty.
Genesis always wonders if her younger brother has a grudge against her as he always stares at her every move like he is looking for any mistake she'll make and has a reason to critic her.
He always does that and she can't bother to argue with him so she just did everything she does perfectly so that he doesn't have a chance.
Her every move is flawless like a trained princess, her actions are elegant and her face doesn't show any unnecessary emotions.
Genesis Quinn is the perfect daughter and sister.
Genesis turned to look at her Father who is sitting in the middle and her Older Brother who is seated in front of her which is her father's right side.
Her Older Brother smiled at her as he noticed her gaze and resumed eating. His movements doesn't lose to her at all, he resembles a real life prince charming.
Her Older Brother, Leviticus Princeton, is the opposite of her younger brother. Levi is a gentleman and loving brother. He is what you call a perfect brother especially when compared to my grumpy younger brother Dionysus Duke.
Father finished his food shortly, he took the napkin and wiped his lips unhurriedly. You can see the nobility in his bones at his casual gesture.
Leviticus and Dionysus finished theirs too and everyone sat quietly on their own seat as they waited for father's words.
Today is a big day for the family, especially for Genesis, as she'll be going to awaken her Soul Talent and Innate Soul Pet later.
The High Schools are supported by the Earth Union as they train and nurture the seeds of prospective Soul Awakened. They are the ones who mostly have access to the Soul Awakening Chamber where Soul Awakening happens.
She didn't understand how it happened but she knew from the books that the Soul Awakening in the Dimension Descent Era (DDEC) is an automatic process without those rituals needed.
Genesis then found out that the Soul Awakening Chamber is made specially to awaken earthlings Soul Talent at the right time because natural awakening is something uncertain for humans.
Humans may wait forever to awaken not knowing that they don't have a talent while some powerful Soul Talent may not awaken early because there is no sufficient energy for the natural awakening.
The Soul Awakening Chamber was invented by earthlings to solve this problem, and it is gradually perfected for many years. Now the numbers of Earthlings Soul Awakened slowly rose compared to the past.
The Earthlings slowly gained control of most land regions in the Earth after the Dimension Descent where monsters slaughtered countless creatures and occupied the majority of territories in land and sea. Although the land is now almost claimed, the sea region is still a danger zone.
The Earthlings in the Dimensional Descent Era have experienced hell as they fought monsters that they never saw, mutated animals and plants. That Era, Earthlings can only hide to survive.
Not until a group of powerful Soul Awakened led the humans and fought with all their might to claim human territories that allowed Earthlings to have some breathing space.
The claimed lands was called Country named by the landmark Dungeons, then divided into Regions where Cities, Towns and Villages are established and guarded by powerful soul awakened.
Now after many years of struggle and hard work, Earthlings slowly gained upper hand and started to explore the Dimensions more vigorously in hope to find answers to the truth behind the catastrophe that changed Earth.
The Dimensions became an exploration land.
The Dungeons are raided and controlled for treasures and resources.
Genesis wishes to awaken a powerful Combat Class Soul Talent so that she can be a Soul Warrior that can fight in the dimension, then protect her family— not wanting the tragedy to happen again.
Soul Talents that are awakened are classified into Race, Attribute and Class.
[Race]: Beasts (Sky, Aquatic, Land), Plant (Tree, Flower, Vine...), Material (Mechanical, Sword, Infrastractures, Antiques...), Spirit (Humanoid)...
[Attribute]: Elements (Water, Fire, Earth, Metal, Wood, Wind, Ice, Time, Space, Psychic, Dark, Light, Poison, Ghost, Shadow, Blood, ... ), Mystery (Luck, Divination, Curse...)
[Class]: Combat (close-range, long-range, AoE), Defense, Control, Support, Healing, and Auxiliary (something not included in the earlier class thus placed in Auxiliary)
In the CLASS category, the Combat class is the most acquired ability. While the healing class is the rarest even from the past.
Auxiliary classes are the most vague class.
Defensive classes are also on demand because every team needs them.
Support classes are also mostly in the military as they possess all the buffs you can imagine, but some powerful healers can do it too.
Control type of Combat Class are actually the most troublesome, they can't kill you but you can be annoyed to death by them.
The Soul Talents are also given rank that measures the aptitude, but Genesis is confident that her Soul Talent will be at least 5-star rank because her Older brother and Father's Soul Talent have a high aptitude star rank.
They are as high as 8-star rank but she isn't really sure because they didn't say it clearly, she told them her guess that they answered with an amused smile.
Star Rank has many definitions, they are used for measuring potential and grade for soul talents, soul pets and resources.
The stars starts from 1-star to 10-star rank. 10-star rank is the highest rank for Earthlings.
But whether there are really people on that level is a mystery for the public but still...
She knows that the 5-star is just average and she unconsciously have a higher expectations in her heart.
"Genesis, your brothers will be aacompanying you for your awakening ceremony. We will talk at home about your future plan after the awakening."
Her father said unhurriedly as he looked at her eyes while talking. Genesis nodded obediently at her father's words.
Her father's moon white hair and deep blue eyes seem to hide many things. Just like the deep sea. She wanted those blue eyes too but she also loved her emerald eyes from her mother. Fortunately, she got her father's moon white hair. Now, she looks like the combination of her father and mother.
After breakfast, everyone went on to do their own business. Father and Older Brother Levi took the hovercar to the company while Genesis and Dionysus rode on a bicycle.
Their estate is located not far from the high school so they took the bike everyday. The GreenLand City is very safe, so they didn't have to worry about danger. Even if a dungeon suddenly opened in the City, the Earth Union has people to detect it in advance.
They don't have money to waste calling for flying transportation so the bike is their mode of transportation.
They're near bankruptcy, Genesis can see the world difference from their previous luxurious lifestyle where money is not something they have worry about, to the current state where they have to be careful with their spending and expenses.
The large mansion that was once full of people, the flourishing mutated and soul star trees and plants that once surrounds the mansion and many more are gone. Their mansion is now dilapidated and the once lively scene is like a passing dream.
Genesis didn't take her bike this time but asked for a free ride from her younger brother Dionysus, who then glared at his older sister who smiled cheekily at him, her emerald eyes glinting in slyly, before grudgingly allowing her to sit behind him.
She happily smiled then sat sideways because she wore the standard girl uniform which is a skirt. She seldom wears this because it's not mandatory anyway and many things are inconvenient to do when wearing a skirt.
Genesis can't train properly with this skirt, especially in school.
After a few minutes, the large gate was seen from her sight. It was magnificent and huge.
Central GreenLands High School.
The country she lives in is called the Labyrinth Maze Country where different dimensions and dungeons like a labyrinth and mazes descended.
There's nothing very special but the fact that they have many varieties of dimensions and dungeons is the country's landmark. It meant that they have no lack of different resources, though it's not very abundant either.
The only problem is that every dimension or dungeon is full of puzzles and mazes that makes it troublesome.
Labyrians, the citizens of Labyrinth Maze Country, are known mostly for their intellect as their local dimensions need to rely on ones brain as much as strength.
Genesis was dropped off by Dionysus Duke a street away from the GreenLand High School gate. Many types of hovercars and Flying-race Soul Pets come and go and it was especially noticeable today, because many families are entering the high school for the much awaited Soul Awakening Ceremony.
A huge sparrow-race soul pet hovered past above them. Genesis mostly saw the common Wide Winged Sparrow, a Soul Pet that have a 3-stars aptitude. The said soul pet is commonly found in the wilderness of Labyrinth Maze Country.
The soul pet is known for their innate ability in flying. It's Rank-1 ability Flight Love, can let the Wide Winged Sparrow fly steadily for days without a rest.
Most awakened who don't have much financial capability and can contract a bird-race soul pet chose the Wide Winged Sparrow soul pet. It can be a mount and has average aptitude, which is already satisying for the majority.
It was also because it doesn't violate the city rules that have restrictions on soul pet's size. Huge, destructive, and other kinds of soul pets aren't allowed inside the city as they are prone to cause damage to city's public property.
Dionysus doesn't like to be in the middle of traffic on his bike. So he folded his bike into a rod. It was a convenient tool thanks to the advanced technology from Reminisce Relic Country, the country who pioneered most of the current technology in the Earth Union. The rod was then placed in his bag.
He also somtimes used it to bash some people's head who tried to provoke him.
Genesis didn't wait for Dionysus as she saw her best friend waiting for her at the gate.
Stormie is from a family of Soul Warriors that is known for their thunder-element Soul Talent. The highest star-rank talent in the Locsin Family is their ancestor who has 9-stars rank mutated [Dark Purple Thunder].
Her father is also a Soul Warrior that has a thunder-element + combat class Soul Talent called [Killing Thunder], 7-stars rank Soul Talent. Her father is already at the peak of 6-Stars Master Rank.
The Locsin Family also owns a dojo that teaches thunder-element skills to interested Soul Warriors and sell thunder-element scroll skills.
They are rich and powerful.
Genesis has the same status in the society to Stormie or even higher before, but after what happened to their family, base on status, she wasn't worthy to be called Stormie's friend.
Fortunately, Stormie is a good friend that didn't turn her back to her.
There are rumors that say our family and hers are connected in some ways but Genesis didn't know the truth about this matter. Either way, she didn't care much but is thankful for having Stormie as her friend.
