Chapter 44: 44. Crushing And Defeating, What The Hell Do You Call This A Little Understanding?

Natalia was currently in a good mood, as she contemplated the unique relationship between Momousagi and the tea dolphins. She believed that this bond could bring a great beauty to her father, who would surely appreciate it. Natalia proposed a challenge to Momousagi, suggesting a swordfight where the winner would claim the loser's sword as a prize.

This proposition was a common bet among swordsmen, where the defeated party would surrender their weapon to the victor. However, Natalia later reconsidered her offer, realizing that it would be more fitting for her to offer her own knife as the prize if she lost. If she emerged victorious, she proposed that Momousagi accompany her, stating that she had no other choice. Momousagi accepted the challenge, but expressed her inability to delay the impending battle for the top.

Although Natalia agreed to Momousagi's condition, she had her own plans. She believed that even if they hurried back to the Island of Gods, it would be impossible for her to stay there for an entire year. She speculated that a year later, when Momousagi returned, there might even be a new addition to the Portgas family—a baby sibling for Natalia. This thought brought a wider smile to her face, as she felt that she was contributing to the strength of her family.

Chu Xia, who was observing Natalia's thoughts from afar, wondered how she would spend her time at sea. Chu Xia mused that it would be interesting to see Natalia hang onto the memory of their encounter for 365 days. Natalia, wearing a mysterious smile, considered the possibilities. She pondered the idea of returning to the Island of Gods later, envisioning a scenario where a year had passed and a baby had been born. She believed that she was playing her part in strengthening the Portgas family.

To proceed with their swordfight, Natalia and Momousagi decided to relocate to another island that was more suitable for their battle. They chose Banaro Island, which had been ravaged by fire, leaving extensive burn marks across the landscape. Natalia and Momousagi stood at the coast of the island, facing each other. The tea dolphin, filled with anguish, reminded Natalia that her Devil Fruit abilities were not permitted in the fight. Natalia, however, dismissed the reminder with a smile, acknowledging that she would only rely on her skills in kendo.

Momousagi, wielding her Kimpira sword tightly, launched her attack with determination. Natalia, holding her knife, observed Momousagi's approach calmly and skillfully evaded her strikes. The battle continued for about thirty exchanges, with Natalia primarily on the defensive and Momousagi launching fierce attacks. Natalia's movements remained flawless, her defense impenetrable.

The onlookers were in awe of Natalia's extraordinary skill, including the tea dolphin, who was initially skeptical. The tea dolphin realized that Natalia's understanding of kendo was far from lacking, as she effortlessly defended herself against Momousagi's relentless assault. It became evident that Natalia possessed a formidable strength, rivaling even the likes of Hawkeye, the world's greatest swordsman.

Momousagi, worn out from her intense efforts, eventually admitted defeat. She acknowledged Natalia's superiority and expressed regret for her own inability to force Natalia into an offensive stance. Momousagi accepted Natalia's invitation to accompany her, eager to challenge other sword masters and further hone her skills.

Yamato, who had been observing the battle, was captivated by Natalia's abilities. Gion, feeling disheartened by her defeat, was consoled by Natalia, who reassured her that she could win next time. The tea dolphin, displaying his

subservient nature, tried to comfort Gion as well, but his attempts were met with indifference.

Natalia, with her hands in her windbreaker pockets, invited Yamato onto the warship. She then gestured to Momousagi and the other female Marines to join them. Natalia had accomplished her mission of capturing Blackbeard, and she intended to take him back for her father to deal with. With more than ten days remaining until the battle for the top, Natalia planned to return to the Island of Gods to further enhance her skills.

As Natalia prepared to board the warship, she cast a lethal gaze at the tea dolphin. She held deep animosity towards the Marines, having been dragged into this mission without any personal gain. The tea dolphin, feeling Natalia's killing intent, hesitated before eventually begrudgingly leaving.

Meanwhile, the tea dolphin's colleagues inquired about their next course of action, uncertain of what to do next. A request for help was sent to nearby Marines, prompting Aokiji to arrive on his bicycle. Aokiji was taken aback by the devastation on Banaro Island and the incredible display of power by Natalia. The events that had transpired seemed almost unfathomable.
