Chapter 16: Grin

"Shit, I messed up. Why is it always me. Why do I always mess up."Rose muttered, then to her driver, she said,"Quick, please. She might be there already."

"Mam, we are almost there. I would recommend that if you walk from here or run quickly because I won't be able to get away before Ashley spots me. Your dad will also be waiting for me. Don't worry, I will handle the situation there." The driver, Ace said reassuringly while opening the door. to get out and open the door to Rose's seat.

"Thank you." Rose said while quickly getting out and running towards the door of her father's house. She looked back while running forward and saw that Ace was already almost out of sight and was driving at almost 120 kilometres per hour. She was relieved to be able to get to the gate and catch her breath before Ash arrived. Ash got there a minute after Rose reached the gate.

"You are just on time." Rose said.

"You waited outside?" Ash asked.

"No, just got here," Rose said.

"Oh.. Okay." Ash said,"What happened? Why were you not coming to the academy today?"

"I was... I was, no , I am not well."

"Why, I mean how?" Ash too was now stuttering.

"It's just a slight headache. Yeah. I hope you, no, I get better. I don't know. I am really dizzy and stuttering, too. you can guess how bad it is, right?"

"YEAH, you should have stayed at home. BTW, why are you sweating in AC. Did you run all the way." Ash said jokingly.

"Oh yeah, that. I was just walking to get some fresh air, but i was not well, and I was hot, no, weather was hot, so i got sweaty." Rose said, trying to sound reasonable.

"But wasn't I just on time?"

"You were? no, I must be getting deèjà vu. idk. Can I rest on your shoulder. it seems like you are interrogating me. You don't have your phone in your bag. Right?" Rose joked.

"No! no, no, no recordings. you can see for yourself."

"You do sound sus. Let me see." Rose said with a smile but a raised eyebrow.

"Here." Ash said while actually handing Rose the bag. This was a sign, a sign Rose under stood really well. She shoved the bag beside her and looked around. Ash had now realised her mistake. She gave a fake laugh.

" You really suspected me." Ash said, amist her laugh. Rose looked at her and then asked, " Since when did you get a new driver?"

"Just hired him today." Ash said.

"I was oblivious on purpose for a reason, or you just forgot a tiny little detail of your awesome life where you change driver every year and each time complain to me about it. About how you hate driver changing. You went along with it. I would have suspected him and only him. That he got this job purposely to spy on you, that's why he is recording, but because you forgot to tell ME, now you dont have the right to stop me from assuming you both were in on it. Ash, tell him to stop the car and delete the recording. It's nothing valuable there, and i prefer my privacy. " Rose yelled and said in a calm tone af the same time. It was shocking, the tone, but it was really dangerous.

"Dazai, stop the car." Ash muttered.

"I will file an invasion of privacy case against you two. better delete that recording." Rose said from outside the car and slammed its door shut. She was walking towards the house again. A grin on her face.
